Saves me 50% compared to my previous policy
I don’t get insurance companies— and I felt trapped when despite a claim free/ticket free record, my new car (same price point as my previous vehicle) caused my premium to double. Some insurers were quoting me more than quadruple (as much as $600/mo!?) I put 2-3k miles a year on my car, and I didn’t understand why that gave me no break with other insurers. Then I stumbled upon Mile Auto and couldn’t believe it. I generally pay $100ish a month for full coverage and standard deductibles. When I have had questions, it’s been easy to reach someone (although not always at a convenient time for me). The website is minimal, and I’m not sure how they calculate the premium quoted. The not-so-greats: There are some troublesome monthly “fees” tacked on (why I have to pay $6/mo or so to submit a mandatory odometer reading via cellphone is beyond comprehension. It’s a picture.). Other administration fees really add up. (I thought the cost of doing business meant the business charges accordingly for its goods/service to cover ordinary overhead and operating expenses. But not Mile. The customer is billed as a separate line item for each, every month, regardless.). Final thoughts: So far I’ve had zero problems but I’ve also had zero claims. I appreciate Mile, love the $$$ I save, and absolutely recommend it for low mileage drivers.
