I am 93 years old legally blind in one eye with deteriorating vision in the other eye, living alone and a rural area. Guardian knows that they are dealing with the elderly and I am feeling they are taking advantage of us elderly, as I called three years ago and cancelled my medical guardian subscriptions as I could no longer afford it and they still automatically charged my account each year until I had a helper go over my bank accounts statements and noticed they were still charging my account and I called this year and only got one year's worth of a refund back not for the other two years. I was charged with $539.28 even though they had record of me calling three years ago stating I cancelled. I plan to pursue your taking outrageous advantage of your elderly population, which is the bulk of your customer base. With the aid of my helpers, I intend to warn others via the internet, so they don't become victims of this fraud.

Mini clip failed . . .
Had the mini for a month. I am a very active 65 year old and got this device use to my husband’s inability to discern an emergency. So I feel like I have someone who can react immediately to an emergency, if necessary. Clipped the device INSIDE my pocket while working my acreage. An hour later - it was missing. Assume the clip failed. Called MedicalGuardian to replace. I was going to be charged full price for a replacement, i.e., not the 75% off for new customers. So I advised that I would be closing the account. Three agents and 26 minutes later after having been put on hold forever, I finally got a human being to close the account. I have the funds to purchase a new one at full price, but after the customer service experience - I decided to give my funds and loyalty to another company.

medical guardian failed in an emergency
My 86-year-old mother is 5 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds. She worked as a registered nurse for forty years and is still sharp as a tack.
On September 10, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., she was alone when she fell while stepping out of our home onto the porch. She struck her head on the cement, causing a serious cut above her eye that bled heavily.
She was wearing her fully charged Medical Guardian necklace. Three times she pressed the button for help, but there was absolutely no response. She tried to get up on her own and failed. She then pressed the button three more times, holding it down for up to five seconds each time—again with no response at all.
Knowing she had no other choice, she problem solved and rallied enough strength to stand. By 8:10 a.m., she was at the bathroom sink tending to her wound. At 8:30, my niece arrived and took her to a walk-in clinic. The nurses there immediately recommended the emergency room.
At the ER, her wound was closed with medical glue and she underwent a CAT scan. Thankfully, she had no broken bones and no internal bleeding.
The next day, we called Medical Guardian to report the incident. The agent reviewed my mom’s charging history and confirmed that her necklace was fully charged at the time of the fall. The agent then ran a test while staying on the line with us. My mom pressed the button—exactly as she had done six times the day before—and this time, the button worked.
The agent concluded that my mom did not press the button properly after her fall. She also informed us that our plan did not include “fall protection.”
What is fall protection? It’s a feature that automatically detects when a user falls and immediately responds with verbal assistance—without the user needing to press a button.
Our plan did not include fall protection? WHAT? That is exactly why we purchased this necklace 15 months ago, why we continued to pay for it, why my mom charged it daily, and why she wore it whenever it wasn’t on the charger.
Why would any company sell this kind of product without fall protection automatically included? The story gets worse. The agent explained that when we purchased the necklace in February 2024, there was a promotion that included free fall protection. Then why didn't we have it? The agent asked us to hold while she checked with a manager about adding that feature to our plan, for free.
After placing us on hold, she informed us that the manager said we could not add this feature for free 18 months after we originally signed with the company. Instead, we would have to pay an extra $10 per month for fall protection.
So fall protection is a hidden cost? I explained that when I bought the plan in February 2024 no one ever mentioned anything about needing a separate fall protection plan. Furthermore, if I had been asked whether I wanted the fall protection added for free, why on earth would I have said no?
This company claims to care about protecting the elderly, but nothing in our experience supports that claim. After this ordeal, we canceled our Medical Guardian service and purchased a SMART watch instead.
I highly recommend you do the same.

Customer Service is Aweful
Emergency response is OK, but if you are calling Customer Service, lets say for a device problem, good luck. My GM Mini is not working and I have called this company several times and I have been put on hold forever. Two hours is passed and I still do not have a response.

Do not expect to get a return
Do not expect to get a return. I have been calling on a bi weekly basis since March. Every time I call it is a different story. "10 business days and it will be deposited". "Let me escalate this". "A manager will reach out by end of business". No refund, no call backs. It is very frustrating.

Intentionally obstructive or just incompetent?
My 85 year old mother had trouble with this organization from day 1. They sent the wrong device and a faulty lock box. Trying to get return / exchange assistance on the phone was so painful that we lost confidence in their ability to respond in an emergency. Once they agreed to refund the initial $400+ it took another 7 weeks of upsetting phone calls. This company should be ashamed to treat elderly clients this way.

Medical Guardian has been nothing but…
Medical Guardian has been nothing but trouble.
We purchased a watch for my mother and a medallion for my father. Over time, we've had many false alarms, the medallion failed to work when tested, and went off several times as the medallion was headed back for replacement. The service knows where my parents are because of the GPS feature, but when they call, they don't take the location into account (e.g. Calling their home when they are clearly not there).

I do not recommend this company at…
I do not recommend this company at all!! I have had the service for over 10 years and I never had to call for help until this past December when I fell and broke my hip. The previous year I had upgraded to the fall detection option as the rep said it would call for help if I fell. So when I did fall I was in seriously excruciating pain and was screaming for help! My Son-In-Law finally heard me and came to help and called an ambulance. The Guardian did NOT detect my fall and when I pressed the button nothing happened. Luckily I live in a state that offers assistance to elderly people having an alert button that’s free, so I signed up with them and called Medical Guardian to terminate service. They gave me an address to mail it back to them - at my expense!! I am a shut in and my kids work 2 jobs so are unable to get it to the post office before closing. So meanwhile they are still charging me every month! If they would send me a pre paid label to mail it back my kids could just drop it off to be mailed. I asked but was told they will not send me postage paid label. So not only didn’t their equipment work when I desperately needed it, but now they are happily charging me every month for nothing. I guess I should have opted for a bigger more well known company. Definitely do not recommend them. I couldn’t find an option to let me pick a date of incident back 10 years so I entered January of this year. Sorry - I’m not real tech savvy so don’t know how to get it to go back
