My device stopped working after about three weeks. It wouldn't take a charge. It no longer had voice communication. I have asked for my money back. We'll see how that goes

I would not recommend Medical Guardian for fall detection. My mom fell 3 times and the pendant didn't alert Medical Guardian any of the 3 times. When calling to cancel service given the most critical need we had was to ensure her falls were detected and assistance sent, the gentleman said maybe the fall wasn't hard enough.?. I'm not sure what that means as my mom's falls were from standing to hitting the floor without anything breaking her falls. He said then it might have been that she moved after she fell which signaled that she was OK. I asked if the detection only triggered if she was knocked out and he said, "or if she's unable to move at all". I said, "so she could be moaning on the floor unable to get up because she broke a bone and the pendant wouldn't go off?". He said, "that's the way the fall detection works... you need to be immobile and unable to move in order for the pendant to alert someone".

We have had this for a year for my mom. She fell and broke her cheek bone in September-no alert. With troubleshooting , I dropped it from several heights, even onto concrete-never went off. She has driven, but GPS tracker shows nothing. Today it showed she was 45 miles away while I was sitting at home with her. Customer service demonstrates no care for their well-being, but will send you a new device (which takes two weeks.) Cancelled today. If you are concerned about an aging parent, find a different company.

Do NOT buy Medical Guardian. In an emergency, you might get a Bot on the other end. That will give you a heart attack right then as you try to connect to a real person! My machine was beeping. It plugs into the wall and there was NO place to find out why it was beeping. I disconnected everything but it still kept speaking about being disconnected. I could not get to a real person until I sat down at my computer and looked up some numbers and got a dispatch. She couldn't tell me why it was beeping. When I hit the emergency button, I got a bot at 8:30 pm on a Wednesday! I tried to get to a real person but the bot disconnected the call. Welcome to AI. I don't think I can get any money back!

We used Medical Guardian several years ago when mom had surgery and we wanted some extra security for her. She fell again in the winter, and so we signed up again with their new MG Move device. Sadly, the device never worked, out of the box it just showed error codes. But also it was very slow to arrive, and showed up with no instructions. You needed to dive into their website to learn that you supposedly just needed to push the test button and everything would be set up. Saly, that just showed error, so we needed to spend hours on the phone getting through their device support team, who were supposedly trying different fixes. It never worked. So we called to cancel the service and return the device for a refud. They said they would send a box. Two weeks later... not box, and only a refund for the service and not the device. After another call to customer service we ere told they NEVER give a refund for the purchased device. I have currently bee shuffled to their billing department, and have been asked to call back in a few days. So, I have opened a claim with my credit card company. I would steer clear of Medical Guardian right now. They are not what they used to be.

Let’s start with the fact that my father fell and the unit never notified anyone. Follow it up with the fact that they don’t have any replacements in stock but hope to have them by the end of the month. Then add the fact that a customer service agent hung up on us despite their claims of excellent customer service. Bottom line - this is NOT a trustworthy service. The fact that my father fell and the unit failed to detect it and notify anyone is all that is needed to disqualify this as a life saving service. All the other noise adds to the negative review. On top of everything else, they insist that you MUST sign some document when canceling. It is not enough to say “cancel my service because it does not work”. Funny thing is, i am still waiting for the e-doc to be delivered to my email. Are they going to make canceling hard? What a BS company and service. DON’T WASTE YOU TIME OR MONEY!

I picked up this service for my 80 yo mother who lives alone, as she wanted something like this to feel more secure, in case something happens. The device was fine, the setup was easy. I have no complains about that part. Disclaimer - my mom actually never had to use the device for real emergency (thanks god). But when we did tests, it worked. I paid for the service for about 2 years. But then my mom confessed to me, that she wasn't actually wearing device for a long time anymore. She didn't want to waste the money, so she asked me to cancel. That's where the problems started. There is no way to cancel the service online, you have to call for that. I called on January 31st of 2026, they told they were canceling the service, I received the email stating "We have received your request to cancel your services with us. We understand that each individual's situation is unique, and your safety is our top priority.". Cancelled, right? but, wait for it. First in the same email down there was another sell pitch: they offered to keep the membership for the price which was 60% lower. After the price was mentioned, there was this: "If you feel this aligns with your needs and decide to stay with us under this new monthly pricing, simply reply with "Keep my account active with my new monthly price." I didn't reply, didn't click on anything, as I didn't need lower price, I needed to cancel. On February 27th I received their regular email "This is your invoice XXX from Medical Guardian", and my credit card was charged again - for the full amount I was paying before, not even with discounted price. I called them again, and the guy on the phone kind of yelled at me, told me that I was supposed to receive an email with some paper I was supposed to sign and return to them that I do want to cancel (?) I told him that I received the confirmation that my cancellation request was received. But I have received nothing else. He told me in an irritated manner that I should receive it this time. I asked him to stay with me on the phone till I receive the email - normal practice with other companies customer service. He stated he had no time for that, that he told me I should receive it, I should check my spam folder, and hang up on me. I waited for couple hours, checked my spam folder couple times - nothing. So I just contacted Chase (the bank of the credit card I was using), and asked them to dispute the transaction. Which they did immediately. And this tells you something too. I had to do dispute only twice in my life before, and I was asked to provide receipts, describe the situation etc. Here I just provided the date I received the cancellation confirmation and the phone number I called. This probably means that I am not the only one, and Chase already dealt with the company before. So judge to yourself, if you want to deal with the, or not. To add to that, I got a call from them about a week after the guy yelled at me on the phone. I thought it was about cancellation and me disputing the charge, so I called them back. Wrong guess: they just wanted to sell me some extra service for extra charge, like I never cancelled.... Update of 03/27/2026: I just changed my 2-star review to 1-star. Since my review I received couple more calls from Medical Guardian - I assume trying to sell me something. I called them back, talked to a reasonable sounding woman who told me again that I needed to sign some paperwork that I wanted to cancel there services (even though I already requested it and received the confirmation about it on January 31st of 2026). She told me it's their procedure as the equipment needed to be returned. I told her the equipment didn't need to be returned in my situation. She agreed - "yes, I see, you purchased it, so you don't need to return it, but it's our procedure". I said O'k, email it to me right now. And she claimed she did it. We both waited for about 5 minutes - nothing came through - not even to a spam folder. Then she said she would send the papers to me by mail. It's was about 2 weeks ago. Nothing like that came in the mail. But instead my 80 yo mom (even though I was the one paying her bills and buying her device) received a paper by mail dated of March 17th of 2026, that she has an unpaid balance. And guess what - I received an email today with the bill (this one miraculously came through). And another one of my credit cards got charged: I must have switched credit cards at some point. And Medical Guardian made sure they kept all the info on file - must be for the situation like this. I have to dispute this new charge now - two months after I cancelled the service. This place is a total scam.
