I was interested in getting a device for my recently widowed 79 year old mother. I requested more information online I received a call and I told the representative i was shopping for a device for my mother and just wanted a website so I could do some comparisons. She then started in on high pressure sales tactics, and got very rude when I made it clear I wasn't committing to anything that moment. As I was trying to ask questions she hung up on me. It's an emotional experience getting a device like this for a loved one. Her callous, money grabbing attitude and lack of compassion and professionalism was appalling! Even if they had the perfect product, which it sounds like they don't, the rep was very evasive when I was trying to ask questions, at one point she even laughed at me; I wouldn't buy this product due to the ridiculous customer service. I would not put my mother's life in the hands of this horrible company!! If I could give them zero stars, I would! I can't imagine an older person trying to get help from this heartless company!!

If I could go negative I would. I’ve paid for this thing for a year plus. It is a “ what if” device. Well what if happened and my mother fell and went to the hospital. All I got for a response was sorry, here’s a credit for a month and you can cancel if you want. We did several drop tests the day she came home. The DEVCE does not work reliably and their response was did you read your agreement? We don’t promise 100% reliability. The customer service person then literally told me if you want to really keep your mother safe out her in a care home! THE WORST company ever. Especially considering what they promote responsibility for. STAY away from this company period!

This seems to be the only place that allows customers to write reviews which makes me think the other 4+ star reviews are fake. I wanted to like this service but I just ran into a few problems with the performance of the device. I received many alerts from it but it was never accurate and had dozens of false positives. I also think the put all the nice customer service people in sales and all the angry ones in the existing customer call center.

My mother has the MiniGuardian, and recently fell (first incident with the unit). The system did in fact summon an ambulance crew (my mother pressed the button). But the crew could not get into the house for 15 minutes -- until I noticed flashing red lights from the window and opened the front door (I was actually home, but was pre-occupied in a different part of the house). What about the lockbox code? The crew was told by the dispatcher there was no such code. But after the incident, I called customer service and inquired about the lockbox code and the rep immediately told it to me! But the dispatcher (called the next day by pressing the button on the device) stated there was no lockbox code. What about calling emergency contacts? None were called (including myself who is first in the list to be called). The customer service rep said that there were none in the system and that's why no one was called. I told him to pull up the scanned signed doc of the system agreement which he did, and he admitted that yes there were four emergency contacts listed. He could not explain why the info was not in the system. A few days ago, it occurred to me to give Medical Guardian the garage keypad entry code (much easier entry than backdoor where lockbox is located). I was assured by a senior rep that the data would be transferred to the dispatch side within minutes. Four days later, alas the dispatcher (contacted via test button push) stated that the garage code was not in their system. Calling back to Medical Guardian in this regard was useless since they told me this code was in fact in the system (exactly same issue with lockbox code above). I finally got problem fixed by calling special Medical Guardian number on BBB website; this phone number is provided prior to someone writing a review about Medical Guardian, requesting that the number be called first. The problem was fixed within the hour! Moral of the story: Do not assume that dispatcher has any data such as lockbox code, garage code, emergency contacts -- unless you can verify it yourself by doing a test button push.

I wish I could give this company a NEGATIVE 5 star review! We read all the reviews 3 years ago when we signed up for medical guardian for my mother. When we contracted their service, we agreed to pay $10/month for "fall detection. This feature would automatically alert the emergency medical system if my mother fell. The feature worked okay for the first couple of weeks. But soon afterward, my mother fell a couple of times and the system failed to respond. My poor mother fell multiple times and the device never registered the falls. It appears that Medical Guardian was turning this feature off but continued to charge us for it. I called to complain each time, and MG promptly turned the feature back on again only to shut it off again a few days later. This happened numerous times, and each time the reps explained that the device had to "jiggle" more in order to register a fall. So we intentionally dropped the device on her bed several times and it never registered a fall. We requested replacement equipment and the same scenario occurred with the "new" equipment. The fall feature mysteriously stopped working within days after it was turned on each time. Eventually, we lost all confidence in the company and cancelled service in October 2020. We were given an address to return the equipment and we promptly returned the necklace, charger and lockbox as instructed. A couple of weeks later our credit card was charged for the one-year renewal again! We phoned the company to inquire and the rep explained that we never returned the equipment. We had the UPS tracking information but the rep said that was not proof that MG actually received the equipment. The rep further stated that they didn't receive the defective equipment we returned one year prior either. I asked why the company would allow an entire year to pass without alerting us that they did not receive the returned equipment. She apologized for the "oversight". After reviewing complaints by other MG consumers, it appears this is a recurring theme in complaints - MG claims they did not receive equipment that was returned. Fortunately for us, we paid for "lost equipment" insurance, so we will not be held liable for the "lost" equipment. I filed a dispute through my credit card company for the annual charge that was billed after I canceled the account in Oct 2020. My credit card company reversed the charge pending investigation. Soon afterward, MG billed a second one-year renewal charge to my credit card. I contacted my credit card company and disputed the 2nd charge also. I plan to request an investigation to determine whether the additional charge reflects fraudulent activity, since this was an unauthorized charge. I am requesting refund of the $10/month "fall detection" charges that were billed for 36 months and asking for investigation of the charges MG applied to my account after we canceled service. This appears to be a scam with the company preying on helpless elderly people! Consumers, please please beware!

WARNING: do not let these people have you information, they are operating a predatory scam! Medical Guardian is a predatory agency, they are very expensive and even after canceling several years ago, an account we set up for my grandma they continue to try and charge us. I can only imagine that they are operating the same way with the old adult community they serve. It is also super difficult to reach anyone within Medical Guardian to cancel or dispute charges.

I would give zero stars if I could. Watch I bought for my mother never worked. I returned it during the trial period to BestBuy and notified them. My credit card renewed in the interim and I noticed two months later they suddenly were trying to bill my old card. They never billed it before because we returned the watch. I contacted them and they said it was because I had not sent a cease and desist letter, but they said they saw the return and would stop if I sent the letter. I sent the letter and then a month later somehow they got my new card number and billed me. More than unethical, down right criminal.

When comes to the billing I agree they NEVER notify u when a payment is due. I'm pleased with the service but the billing pretty much a thorn in my BUTT. Was pay in 45.94 a month rate went$2.00that didn't bother me. Until the following month just outa the blue without notice they upped it to$49.94 per month. Looks like they pretty much do as they please. And us Veterans and seniors are the ones suffering for it.
