The alert system was probably fine, we never used it and returned it when my mom passed away. They offered a mini guardian for my dad for 2 months free, never used it and returned. Still trying to get payments canceled! Both devices arrived quickly with clear instructions and a tech support line, with limited contact hours. The reason for the bad review is their horrible customer service. They never could get basic account info right, we got a different story from each person talked to about details, never could get a return phone call from or back in contact with our own personal 'rep.' Excellent lip service when you finally reach a 'rep.' They are seriously disorganized in many ways that we went elsewhere.

I called to make an inquiry. The rep kept pushing one product. I asked questions about other products and she turned nasty saying “This is the one you need!” without explaining any differences or answering my questions. I said thanks I’ll call back if I’m interested and did not give my number. Yet a different rep used caller ID to call me back. I asked him to please take me off their list & please stop calling. They kept calling — up to 4 more times, from a different number each time that matched my area code. They wouldn’t stop calling until I finally lost my temper and screamed at them. I’m ashamed of my behavior, but it was Very, very upsetting and feels predatory. What if my loved one had died? What if I was someone who had trouble with finances? They don’t seem to care, just want to pressure to make the sale. I don’t want to do business with a company whose sales tactics are so strong-armed. For now, we’ve decided to go with ”Hey Siri” on the iPhone for emergencies and an Apple Watch for fall detection. Hopefully we never need those features but at least it’s something to make us feel a little better just in case.

DO NOT ORDER FOR YOUR LOVED ONES. This is the 3rd pendant to have been sent. 2 so far have not worked correctly. I have fall protection. After my father fell and hit his head on the pendant, it did not call for help. He then pushed the button (luckily he was conscious). It took what seemed an eternity to my father for someone to answer (probably with in 60 seconds but I have no way to know). EMS dispatched. When i called to have the pendant checked, I was told that they cannot guarantee the pendant to detect falls. The rep just spouted numbers and percentages which meant absolutely nothing to me.The tone of representatives (all but 1, Stella) to whom I've spoken, has been of boredom and no sympathy. Sure they said "I am sorry" but no feeling nor remorse. Just wants customer off thier line. I want my father safe. In the end the information she left me before transfering as fast as possible, was that fall protection may only work about 10% of the time. (WOW, JUST WOW) Now a 3rd Pendant has been sent to try before I cancel the entire service. You ask why I keep hoping it works; my father paid for an entire year in advance and it will be a huge hassle to get a refund. New pendant processed Friday 3.11.22. Told would have Saturday 3.12.22. Wasn't ship til Monday 3.14.22. Will have finally Tuesday 3.15.22. Four days later than promised.

Fortunately, we never actually had an emergency so I can not review the actual service. However, returning the equipment is a nightmare, as one other reviewer has stated. This company preys on the elderly who have fixed incomes and need this service. My dad was in the hospital and moved to a nursing home. He did not need the service anymore. He had not even used the equipment in months. I am surprised and disappointed that the company did not notice the equipment was not being used. I was never alerted. But when the year was up, we were automatically charged $500. When we called to cancel the service, the day after we were charged, I was given a case number and I was instructed to return the equipment. I was told the account was canceled and that the charge would be prorated. I was also told that a portion of the money would be returned once we returned the equipment. We followed all the return instructions and tracked the package until it was scanned at the return address. Medical Guardian insists they did not receive the package and will not return any money and they have not canceled our account. We have called several times to follow up and every time we talk to someone we get a different answer. Unfortunately, the tracking number and receipt were discarded after we saw the package arrive. At this point, Medical Guardian is not canceling our account and they are not returning any money. This company is awful! Do not invest. ***I am not sure if it is a coincidence or not. But... soon after I wrote this review and after several more phone calls, we were finally refunded the majority of our money. Unfortunately, not all of the customer service representatives were polite or helpful. However, I am happy that there were a few honest, nice people that tried to help us. Thank you.

Trying to return this device who is extremely difficult and I continue to get billed after it was returned. After many calls to customer service I still was not satisfied. A $50 restocking fee is charged even after you’ve had a device for over two years. Not right

Medical Guardian started as a great concept for my father. Until we recognized the system wasn’t strong enough to register his falls, despite the extra features paid for. Within two months of use, my father fell several times, with no support calls from Medical Guardian, which in turn led to his brief hospitalization and move to a rehab center to gain strength, and then ultimately to a nursing home. Months later, in May 2020, we had to sell his home and pack up all his belongings. Of course, in all this time, I’d forgotten about Medical Guardian, as it wasn’t working for him initially, and thus it was out of my mind. Imagine my surprise when I received a subscription bill for another year, for a MONITORING service, that wasn’t even aware the unit wasn’t plugged in. Where was the monitoring? Why wasn’t I called or even sent an email that asked about the system not being plugged in? So I call to cancel the service, and get a refund, only to be told I need to send back the equipment we’re leasing, or be charge $350 for it. How about I get a refund for the 9 months you collected a $45 fee without actually monitoring ANYTHING? That equates to $405 for a monitoring service that couldn’t even be bothered to tell me the unit wasn’t plugged in and monitoring anything. Your cancellation customer service rep had the gall to tell me Medical Guardian isn’t spying on their clients, as they have thousands of clients and can’t do that. Spying?!? We paid you to monitor my father’s safety and you couldn't even monitor if your own equipment was turned on. I will take the time to go through my father’s boxes and find your equipment and send it back, so that you don’t charge us $350 for equipment that wasn’t even working. And I want you to refund me the 9 months I paid for monitoring where no monitoring was done. I’ve already contacted my credit card company disputing the $539 subscription charge for 2022. Instead of actually being a guardian of elderly people, your company has proven they are taking advantage of the elderly with a service that isn’t regulated (no actual monitoring going on) and is expensive/almost impossible to cancel without getting screwed over on fees. My review rating for your product is zero stars. I’d recommend your company to no one.

Buyer Beware: I am writing this for my cousin who is elderly and disabled, which is precisely why she subscribed to Medical Guardian. The wrist band fell off her arm (she is quite small). To remedy the problem MG sent her another band of the same size which obviously was no help at all. There were other equipment issues which caused her to unplug and cancel the service. She has not been able to get to FEDEX to return the equipment bc she is disabled and doesn't drive. Rather than figuring out another alternative to get the equipment back, Medical Guardian took another year's fee from her account and told her they would continue to do so without regard for the obstacles she faces which prevent her from doing so. I was surprised, appalled is perhaps a better word, that a company which markets a product to benefit the elderly would not have a better policy/plan for returns. This seems to be a case of profits before people.
