The Medical Guardian website is impossible to navigate. Once my mother passed away, they insisted that the device had to be returned even though it was purchased, not rented. They promised a refund upon cancellation, but did not issue the refund. My recommendation is not to use Medical Guardian.

Deceptive Company
Needed a portable device to detect falls. Called Medical Guardian, very nice man PROMISED the watch would work in my area and said if not, it could be returned. I received the watch, charged it and it DID NOT work! Tried to call multiple times with over 20 minute wait. Sent it back and they partially refunded my credit card. Fought it and unfortunately lost. So a senior on fixed income SCAMMED! They charged $60.45 to restock, senior friendly, right? I now have an Apple watch and feel safe!

Caveat Emptor!
We could not use the service due to having a tin roof and no landline. Fine, I promptly sent the cancellation letter back through the mail immediately. Then several weeks later I see a $36 charge in my checking account for service I never received. I called and was told they never received the cancellation letter, but when they did they would prorate the charge and refund me the remainder, keeping in mind that I never had one day of service! Ok, I thought, I will wait until they get the cancellation letter. This month, low and behold, another $36 charge, and so I called them again and was told, yes, you guessed it, they didn’t receive the letter. Red flags are popping up all over, because I honestly can’t remember any of my recent missives not reaching their destinations. So the agent, who I might add was a bit snippy, offers me the option of getting another cancellation letter by email that I can sign and return. Of course, I will need to wait 24 hours to receive it, so that is my current situation.
I noticed that the reviews are either love them or hate them, and many of the hate them reviews involve cancellations that somehow are as complicated as brain surgery. I am notifying my bank to put a stop to any more deductions and that may solve my issue. I might add that I never sent back the service agreement that I would assume finalized the account services. However that didn’t seem to matter since this greedy company has my account information. And of course, anything they do, i.e. cancelling an account, takes 30 days! So all I can say is “ caveat emptor” when dealing with this company.

Horrible customer service
I asked countless times to make sure the had coverage for my in-laws living in a remote area. I was assured they did each time. Once we got the watch we had to call for set up. We had a long wait. Once we got thru we were told it wouldn't connect and would be called back. We called back a week later and still could not get the device to work. They said they would check with their troubleshooting dept. I asked they call me back when it was fixed. They kept calling my in-laws who were totally confused by all the technical terms. Over the next week were told to reset the device, take out and re-insert the battery, leave it on a charger over night and finally they asked if they had wifi. They don't. I had to call and wait again and we were told they would try a different cell tower. I called back again since it still didn't work. After that they tried to get me to purchase different products. I told them we were done and were just going to return the device. I was told we would get a refund. It took a week for the device to arrive back. I didn't get a full refund. I called and was told that they can't control what cell tower was to be used and they would never have told me I would get a full refund. They said they only refund 15 days after we receive the device. After that it's prorated for their service. We never had service and were never told there was a time limit for a full refund from the date the device arrivef. They kept over $100 for a service that was never received. The customer service wait times to talk to someone were over an hour long many times. This was a total sham.

deceptive sales practices
We chose Medical Guardian for my mother because we were told by your company that we would be purchasing the equipment and that we could call and cancel the service at any time. That was in July of 2022, my mother died in November. I called to cancel the service in December and was told that if I wanted to send in the equipment for a refund that would be applied to my mother's bank account I could do so. By the time I had time to send in the equipment, my mother's account had been closed. Since I was under the impression that we owned the equipment, I saw no reason to send in the equipment for a refund since it could not be applied to her account. Imagine my surprise which quickly turned to anger when I was sent a bill for a service I had cancelled in December and was told that the equipment that we had been assured was our property, had only been leased to us and that I had to return the equipment your company had lied to us about purchasing. I was further angered when your company lied to me again by claiming it had been monitoring this equipment. Something I knew was impossible since it had not been plugged into an outlet since December of 2022. I was further angered when I was told that you would continue to monitor it, even after I had informed your company that it was not connected to a power source and, therefore, impossible. I was angered even more after your company sent me a bait and switch "cease and desist" letter that your company claimed was the only way to end your "service" and your harassing emails demanding payment for a service that was not in use. I call it bait and switch because buried in the legalese was a "lost equipment fee" that would make me legally liable for the equipment that your company had falsely stated had been purchased by my family. I was told by one of your customer service representatives that I had to print the paperwork and return it to your company in order to end your "service". She also assured me that she would put a note on the account to waive the lost equipment fee. Since I was already thoroughly acquainted with the relaibilty of your company's word, not to mention the complete and utter lack integrity your company possesses, I decided to return the equipment I supposedly own to your company. You recieved the equipment that I had supposedly bought on the August, 14, 2023 and today you sent me another harassing email demading payment for a service that has not been in use for ten months. I am supposed to make this critique constructive. So I guess I need to state the obvious: DO NOT LIE TO PEOPLE IN ORDER TO GET THEM TO SIGN UP WITH YOUR SERVICE THEN COMPOUND THOSE LIES WITH MORE FALSEHOODS AND HARASSMENT. DO NOT MAKE IT VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL SERVICES AFTER THE DEATH OF A RELATIVE. HAVE MORE THAN A NODDING AQUAINTENCE WITH THE BARE MINIMUM OF BUSINESS ETHICS.

All I did was call for information
All I did was call for information. I never received anything from them but a bill for $333.00 . I called but the people I talked to were of no assistance. I stayed with Medic Alert and never used Medical Guardian. I do not have any of their equipment so how can they say I have service with them. Just because I’m a senior citizen they think they can get money from me for something I never had.

This company is horrible and the sad…
This company is horrible and the sad thing is they deal mostly with elderly people. I tried the service out for a year a bought all the extras, watch and everything for my mother who is 85. She did not use it. They called me about renewing and i explained to them i was not and I have all the equipment and will contact them if I want to start up again. They have been hounding me and now they sent a collections letter to my 85 year old mother that had nothing to do with the order and almost gave her a stroke!! Her address was ONLY used to ship equipment to. I called to let them know and they keep hanging up on me or transferring me to VM. It's all a scam and the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. They are plenty of other companies that provide this service. Shop around. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I only gave them 1 star because i had to in order to get this post on to try to warn people. They do not care. It's all a SCAM. Look for other services. I will try to get to a news station next. I do not want anyone else mother to get a scare like this.

I am writing to express my utmost…
I am writing to express my utmost disappointment with the level of customer service I received during my recent interaction with your company. Unfortunately, the entire experience left a negative impression, and I feel compelled to share my concerns.
I requested a cancellation immediately, since my mother no longer needed the service. I saw a charge of over 300 dollars to my account for lost device. After almost a year I saw another $258 charge in my account. Reason for another charge is they haven’t received paperwork to cancel. Now last year I mailed the release form.
Today, I received voice mail from medical guardian which charges will be there & there is nothing we can do?? For one year we did not have an active account you charged me 300 dollars for your lost device & now this!
During the entire interaction, I did not feel valued as a customer. The dismissive attitude and lack of empathy from both the representative and supervisor were truly disheartening.
