Been a Marriott Card user and reward member for 20+ years. Watching the benefits of the program erode particularly over the past 5 years has been painful to watch. The last straw for me came today. I have a free night cert that expires in a month and want to use it next week for an overnight. No joy. The hotel I want to use it at is "sold out" of free nights. And calling both customer service and the local hotel provided conflicting info about ability to redeem. So that's that. Will look to keep my account so I TRY and spend my remaining points, but will be switching to a different card.

We stayed at Residence Inn by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Pompano Beach Central 2/21 -2/28. The staff was friendly and the hotel clean. Unfortunately I was unaware that refrigerator was unlevel and unsecured from rolling. I placed a bottle of wine on the fridge. When my husband closed the freezer(2 days before checkout) the fridge rolled backwards and rocked causing wine to fall onto stove shattering the burner. We notified front desk who said they would look into it. We explained what happened and condition of refrigerator. Nothing else was said by hotel. No glass was removed or covered over. No option of room change for safety reasons was offered. We remained in room cooking on small burner. We didn't complain, we figured why ask for another room and ha v e this one out of commission when we knew the risk. When our bill was posted a $250 charge was added. When I called Marriott to inquire the customer representative could not explain it. I don't feel it is fair to be charged $250 when we didn't know the fridge wasn't secured. Had I known I certainly would not have put wine above it. Further more I feel the hotel staff's handling of the situation was unprofessional. The lack of communication from the staff as well as failure to secure the stove repair it or render it a non safety hazard.(edited to shorten) Reply from Marriot:Thank you for having your husband contact us. We have escalated this matter to our colleagues within our Hotels Managerial Department. Our colleagues will contact you, via email, to offer resolution. Marriott:4/26/24 We see that the hotel called regarding this issue. 6/25/24 I inquired:Any updates please? We haven't heard from you since April. Wondering if your just going to blow us off on this. Marriott replied: We see that we messaged you back in April stating the hotel called on the issue.(I assume hotel called resolution department as I haven't received any calls or replies. ) 6/25/24 I responded :But nothing since, 2 months tomorrow since your last reply. Thank you for responding today. 6/26/24 Marriott replied; We see that we let you know about the call and then you said thank you.. this is why we prefer Staybridge by IHG

desperately need to leave bonvoy and move to their competitors. My bonvoy account was hacked 3 weeks ago and i lost all my points to fraudulent stays. The customer service staff would not take me seriously and i still have had no update nor my account reset or my points returned. One of the worst companies i have ever dealt with

So.. re Marriott Bonvoy. This app used to be fairly ok.. However, that has changed dramatically. They DO NOT HAVE HOTEL BILLS UPLOADED which is complete BS.. And.. have no valid reason as to why except that "they are working to make the user experience better". Are you fing kidding me. Uploading the bills is primary reason I use for business expense justification. Why would you do something so stupid as to eliminate this feature. Especially when the hotels all say a printed copy is not necessary because you have the bill in your Bonvoy app. Customer service people were clueless on topmof everything. BS!!! Fix this!!! Or Hilton is it!!! Plus add a flipping Customer Srv number in the app. It's as if you hide intentionally. I feel that Marriott is in decline for other reasons as well re the properties and how poorly they are run in FL.. Sad to see. They have turned into Disney type chaotic experiences. No longer for the business traveler.

I recently booked a room at the Bellagio through Marriot Bonvoy. 2 days before my stay, the reservation was canceled. However, I did not receive an email, phone call, text or notification. I found out the reservation was canceled the day I arrived in Las Vegas. I called Marriott immediately. The representative stated that the reservations was canceled by the property because the credit card on file was declined. I contacted my credit card company and was told that they hadn't declined any charges. Marriott offered to rebook at a much higher rate and was not accommodating. The agent told me that they don't notify you if reservations are canceled, which sucks when you have arrived in a city and don't know you have a canceled reservation. Also, the rep told me that it was the Bellagio that canceled the reservation because they [Bellagio] kept trying my card. Bellagio doesn't have my card on file only Marriott so I'm not clear how they would have tried or attempted to charge it. Their lack of concern or even attempt to resolve the situation was horrendous. Rebooking using the same card would have been no problem but not at double the rate when the mistake is on Marriott and their failure to communicate. I get more reliable service on Priceline in terms of bookings. Needless to say I am a Marriott Gold member and will be diverting all of my future trips to a Hilton property.

Marriot loyalty program policies, approach and lack of common sense are at an all-time low. I've been an Elite Marriott Member for 20 years (thousands of stays) but definitely looking at other options. Give me a call Hilton.

Once good program is now bust. Where to begin? For starters, best valuation I could find for points redemption is now only .54. Used to be 1.5-1.9. Even in recent years was still better than the .08 it dropped to. Now apparently there is not bottom to low for these grifters. Free night award? What a joke. They give you 35,000 free award night. Same award they have been giving for 29 years. Problem is everything has now gone up to at least double that number of points. So no real way to use award unless you are in the worst city in America at the worst Bonvoy property. Otherwise room will cost you way more than 35,000 points per night. Could keep going but bottom line is this: whoever is now running this awards program is greedy, does not care about customer experience or service and has devalued this program to being basically worthless. Suggestion: just get a 2% cash back card and use your savings to stay at a better hotel with a better rewards program that actually cares for and wants to retain its customers.

After a myriad of bad experiences with some of the customer service representatives dropping the calls after asking to change to change a reservation. Jeypsi heard us out and after an ordeal of searching for a hotel nearest to our location booked one for us. This was fantastic service on his end and we cannot commend him enough for his aptitude in these circumstances, I’d be remiss not to include that I mistakenly dropped the call unknowingly prior to the call rating which is reason as to why I am making this review.
