Steer Clear buy Elsewhere. Open Box in their made up dictionary means Used, Reconditioned or Refurbished. Instead of being honest with customers and stating this on the product display page they choose to hide it and pass off Herman Miller products as new open box. Once you receive your reconditioned used merchandise and realize you've been shammed they refuse to cover return costs and enforce their 50.00 restocking fee. All this while threatening to send the matter to their attorneys should I choose to dispute it who I am sure keep very busy defending these crooks. I will be contacting NYS consumer affairs, BBB and NYS attorney general.

This company sells second hand/used materials as new. Ordered new chair and it was dinged up and leaked fluid all over the floor - they refuse to fix the problem and now I am stuck with defective chair, ruined carpeting and no resolution. Would NEVER do business with this company - there is a very good reason their prices are what they are - its because they sell knockoff products that are defective - buyer beware. Updated Sept 30: Yes - its true - After half a day's use - their chair leaked Hydraulic fluid all over the carpeting and they refused to address the issue. The product is faulty and caused this damage - faulty seals from this product leaked and is heavy grease - does not appear this product is authentic as advertised - looks to be Chinese knockoff.

This customer's review is false and is only in retaliation to his request that our company pay for his carpet cleaning. Apparently, his carpet got dirty when assembling the chair and he demanded we pay $1200+ for the cleaning or he will write a slanderous review against our company.

I usually do not take the time to write reviews but my experience with Maddison Seating and the product I purchased from them was the most disappointing online purchase I have had in my life. After doing a bunch of reading I decided on the Leap v 2 chair and saw the prices at Maddison and I was super excited. A couple of weeks later my chair arrived and I was still super excited. After assembling the chair the pneumatic lift did not operate and I called Maddison Seating and sent an e-mail from Maddison Seating and they refereed me to a video on you tube I tride to post it so you could watch it but terms and conditions would not allow me to. The e-may reply and I quote "The pneumatic lift may not work if the cylinder was not assembled correctly" Are you serious! I purchased the pipe wrench and broke my plastic mallet in the process of taking the chair apart and putting it back together again. Super disappointed I packed up my chair in all the original packing material and took it to FedEX only to find out return shipping would cost me over $300.000 due to to the "oversize" box that it is shipped in. The details are in the fine print and buyers beware. Don't buy the Leap v 2 chair and in my experience you are taking a big risk placing an order from Maddison Seating.

If you're lucky enough to make a purchase from Madison Seating that is problem-free, you won't encounter my experience or the experience of all the other naive people who believe they are dealing with reputable people who stand by their products and tell the truth about them. Like so many others, my Aeron chair arrived with a crucial part broken. I went through the whole "use the original box" routine, was told to spend hundreds of dollars to return the chair - which we did not do, only to find out from an authorized Aeron chair service center that it was complicated but not impossible to fix the chair. The chair came with no official Aeron/Henry Miller label or documentation. As with the many other complaints to be read on review websites, I had no idea I would be receiving anything other than a discounted, authentic, and new Aeron chair. This review is the first I've ever felt compelled to write. CAVEAT EMPTOR! Wow! Madison Seating must employ someone to watch all the review sites because within minutes of my writing the above complaint, I received an email from "the Management" defending its handling of my problematic chair, insisting that the company had extended every courtesy to address a problem that was magically described - someone must have ESP - as follows: "As it happens, the product incurred damage during transit to you." How would they know that?!?!?!? Transit from a warehouse to a truck? From a delivery truck to my house? Since the company has an address in New Jersey and we live in California, that's a lot of ground to be able to state with certainty how and where the damage occurred. From a Madison Seating printed page stating a "30-day money back guarantee," now I'm told the company is rescinding "the courtesy option of returning the chair outside the 30 day return period." My correspondence with the company ended more than three weeks ago which was 2 1/2 weeks after the broken chair arrived at my house. No option of any sort was offered in any email sent to me - only the demand that the chair be returned in the box it was delivered in.... or I would incur the cost of shipping it back without a shipping label from the company - a cost that would have amounted to hundreds of dollars. If the company backs its products 100%, what prevents it from providing a means that ensures customer satisfaction and loyalty? And what if the box was shredded beyond safe mailing? And how long must a customer keep a box before a problem is determined? So many contingencies the company completely ignores, as noted in numerous complaints at other review sites. Enough said. Luckily, the authorized Herman Miller/Aeron service center closest to where we live can supply the parts and labors to make the chair useable for a pittance of what sending a chair back and never knowing what we might get next would cost us.

Terrible all around. Took 8 weeks to get 12 Aeron chairs. I ended up having to rent a truck and get the chairs myself at one of the shippers 2 hours away. -- When receiving the chairs 3 of 12 were broken with seat or mesh damage -- 12 out of 12 were the wrong size of chair, not what i ordered. -- They WILL NOT allow for return unless in the original box, which i didn't keep, since i didn't notice the size, as they looked correctly -- They are not making restitution. I've called customer service who just tells you to send emails to their service email, which gets no response. I would of rather paid double the price to get the real thing. As I'm pretty much out 8k for 12 Aeron chairs that don't work for us.

Buyer Beware! This company has a very unscrupulous business model, whereby they ship a defective chair, try to extort a false positive review in exchange for shipping a "free" replacement which turns out to be a different model. Then they want the customer to pay for return shipping and a restocking fee for their discrepant shipment. Madison Seating clearly does not stand behind their "100% Customer Satisfaction" claim. Thankfully, my credit card company agreed with the facts and credited me for the entire purchase. It was an exhaustive experience that I don't wish upon anyone.

I would give 0 stars if possible. We purchased an Aeron Chair by Herman Miller from Madison Seating for $449.11. In less than 6 months the cylinder broke rending the chair unusable. Madison wants both $75 and return shipping to honor their warranty. Return shipping would easily cost us at least $100, but I can't justify that cost when there's a chance we would get another lemon. Extremely disappointed. Avoid this chair and this company. If your chair breaks after 30 days you're screwed.

This reviewer received merchandise in perfect working condition. The customer broke the chair and asked for warranty service. Our warranty does require the product to be sent back for the repair. We are happy to fix the item at no cost. We are sorry if Mr. Beyer is not happy with the repair service we offer.
