Madison Seating Fooled me Twice with Poor Quality Materials
This is my second purchase from Madison Seating. Both times I received defective merchandise.I would not recommend purchasing a chair from this company despite their very cheap prices. You get what you pay for apparently. I purchased a Humanscale Freedom Task Chair that arrived with a broken Upper Back Support, a load-bearing structural component. The chair was non-functional as delivered. This is not a cosmetic defect or assembly error. The Upper Back Support is pre-installed and requires no customer assembly. Their initial resolution was a 50% credit to keep the broken chair. I countered with a reasonable alternative: accept the 50% credit plus the replacement parts needed to restore the chair. They declined without explanation. When I mentioned I would me leaving a review of my experience, they immediately withdrew the credit and called my complaint "escalating unnecessarily." Their position changed solely because I exercised my consumer rights. They attributed the damage to carrier mishandling. I dispute this because the Upper Back Support is internal and would require significant external box damage to break in shipping, which was not present. This mirrors a pattern visible throughout their Bureau of Better Business reviews, where defects are consistently blamed on customers or carriers rather than product quality. I returned the chair and initiated a credit card dispute, as I no longer trust this company to process my refund in good faith.
