I bought a chair in early august. its the end of november and I have gotten nothing.
I bought a chair in early august, still haven't gotten it yet. BEWARE OF THEIR EMAILS. They always keep delaying it however they want. One month turns into the next, and the next month turns into another. I have waited for 3-4 months and I have gotten nothing. They always say due to covid but it seems like they are just making an excuse out of it now. Stay away because you won't get your chair within the next two months.

Waited 4 months for my chair, eventually canceled.
I wish I could comment on the quality of product, but I did not receive my chair after nearly 4 months of waiting and sub-par customer service. I ordered a chair mid-July 2020. The website did have a banner mentioning that COVID19 would potentially delay orders, but when my confirmation came it said 10-15 days. That timeframe came and went, but understanding supply chain issues, I tried to call them. There phone support is shut down and the voicemail instructed me to email them for an update. I emailed them in early August and was told mid-August. Emailed again when that date came and went, they responded with a canned email exactly the same as the first delay, but with a new shipping estimate of late August. Date came and went, emailed them early September, new shipping estimate of mid/late September. Date came and went, emailed early October, new shipping estimate of mid-October. Date came and went, emailed late October, new shipping estimate of mid-November. Date came and went, I sent one last email telling them I'd like to cancel if they could not provide a concrete date, they sent another canned email with a new date, not acknowledging my request to cancel, and I asked them to cancel one more time and they did. I understand the supply chain has been interrupted during COVID, but there is a way to handle customer service, and this is not it. Very disappointed in the lack of communication and transparency. When I initially saw the prices I thought they were too good to be true, and it turned out that was the case.

I would give it zero stars if possible
I would give it zero stars if possible. Absolutely terrible customer service. Inconsistent explanation of their cancellation policy. I get we’re in the midst of a global pandemic but even 2 months after the order, no update on when the delivery could be. Hated my experience with them. NEVER AGAIN

Poor customer service and shady practices
Hi,
I ordered a chair on Aug 20th and was told it would take 10 to 14 business days to receive. A long time in today's world but I accepted it.
I sent a note to them about 20 business days later and got a response that pushed out the delivery another 14 days.
I sent another note, and they pushed the date out again.
Every time they are blaming delivery on their suppliers and Covid, and I have sympathy for that, but there have been many services that have had to deal with Covid and are much more responsive and forthcoming.
In total I've waited 75 days total, 45 working days and have now been delayed another 30 days.
Poor customer service, no one to actually speak with other than a boiler plate email.
Don't buy from here, there are way better places to get the same material.
UPDATE: they seem to scam the TrustPilot system with fraudulent reviews! There are a lot of different reviewers with the exact same story (and telltale bad english).

Filthy chairs, criminal threats, kept money after taking back merch
On March 21, 2020, I ordered two chairs from Madison Seating, one Herman Miller Aeron and a Humanscale Diffrient. They charged my credit card right away for both chairs. On April 3, I received an email that both chairs shipped, which was not true, as only the Aeron arrived on April 4. I was happy with the Aeron and upon emailing Madison about the second chair, they said it would ship “next week.”
On April 21, 2020, one month from the order date, I received the Humanscale chair, which was not in mere “open box” condition, but clearly heavily USED. The same day, I emailed Madison with photos, showing that it was a stained, scratched and snagged chair. Madison said it cannot open the files. I re-send in JPG format. Madison says “no attachments.” I email photos within Google drive with a link. I also send photos separately embedded in Gmail. I email again to confirm receipt of photos. No response. I follow up the next day. No response.
On April 28, 2020, not having a response, I emailed Madison to have the chair picked up and that I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company. On April 30, I received an email offering for me to keep the chair with a 50% discount. I was not interested in keeping a heavily used and dirty chair for $250.
On May 1, 2020, Madison sent me an email threatening to file a police report for “stolen merchandise.”
On May 5, 2020, Madison sends another threatening email, again claiming the chair is “stolen merchandise” and that I would have to defend said action in New York. (No legal basis).
On May 5, 2020, an unidentified person with the caller ID of Madison Seating calls my home number and leaves a message purporting to be an investigator looking into “stolen merchandise” and threatening to call my local police department. I have the MP file.
On May 6, 2020, after getting a letter from my attorney (which detailed all their illegal actions), Madison FINALLY sends a pre-paid shipping label for me to return the used chair. I accept Madison’s offer to resolve the matter with the return of the chair in exchange for the full refund for the chair. The chair has been boxed up with the label affixed. Photos of the same are included in the email to Madison.
On May 7, 2020, (as I would find out later from the documents received by my credit card company), Madison challenges the dispute. To support its challenge to my credit card dispute, it includes a letter dated 4/24/20 which is obviously fake since I did not file the dispute until 4/28/20! Also, they falsely claim that they already sent me the return label, but the label is clearly generated on 5/6/20.
On May 8, 2020, UPS picked up the chair. On May 19, 2020, the chair’s receipt by Madison is confirmed.
On May 24, 2020, after getting a letter from my credit card company, I call to find out that Madison has NOT indicated the matter resolved.
On May 27, 2020, I send an email demand that Madison either issue credit or inform the credit card company that the matter is resolved. Madison REFUSES to cooperate.
On May 28, 2020, another email is sent to Madison to confirm receipt of the chair and to reverse the charge. Madison never responds.
Subsequently, I found out from my credit card company that they have tried repeatedly to contact Madison to release the refund from their bank. The person who answers the phone at Madison indicates that “the person who handles that” is not in, just left, out for several days, etc. Not surprisingly, they do not return calls.
So, several months after Madison took my money for two chairs, they got one used chair back (to sell to another unsuspecting customer?) and kept the money for both.
AFTER MY INITIAL POST, Madison reported my review as violating Trustpilot's guidelines! The truth:
1. I have written detailed facts about my personal experience with Madison.
2. I have emails and photos to support my review.
3. I have an MP3 file of Madison's voicemail message pretending to be an investigator, coming after me for "being in possession of stolen goods."
4. I have documents from my credit card company showing how Madison wouldn't instruct their bank to issue the credit.
Madison continues to bully and intimidate, even after I wrote my truthful and provable review.
UPDATE 11/7/2020:
Madison Seating tried to keep my truthful review offline by claiming that it was untrue and defamatory. Trustpilot requested documentation that Madison Seating called me pretending to be an investigator, which I provided- video of the voicemail that shows "Madison Seating" in the caller ID. Now they have defamed me for lying to Trustpilot. And the fact that this review is live proves the veracity of my review and their continuing lies about their response. Notice that they NEVER say that they refunded my money.

This reviewer is clearly having issues with her credit card company and disputes she is initiating for purchases she is making and is letting out her frustration on the companies instead.

Madison Seating Steelcase products are NOT new
This product and all other Steelcase and Herman Miller chairs are NOT NEW, and Madison is not a authorized dealer for either. Look under the features at the very bottom and you will see all chairs for these brands are Open Box. Below is the response custom service giving about Open Box items. Some sites, like eBay list the products as New-Open box. New implies no changes have been made from the new authentic version that comes from Steelcase, and just the box is missing. This is not what they are selling!!!
In short you have no clue what you are getting. The chair I ordered was not the authentic fabric when compared to my other authentic Steelcase chair from an authorized dealer. So, based on the below description of Open Box I must have received a reupholstered in their brand-new commercial grade in- house fabric. The fabric was terrible compared to the authentic chair’s fabric, very rough and attracts everything.
Also, today the hydraulic lift started to fail, two and half months after ordering. The chair will not stay in the set position and you just slowly to the lowest setting.
Overall, if Madison were to clearly call out that they are gray market (is in the fine print) and clearly call out that ALL these chairs are not new, not just the "Open Box" as the last item on the page I would not be able to complain. However, they give the appearance that their products are new, and that is not acceptable to mislead the customer. Had this been my first Steelcase chair I would have been turned off from buying their products again based on this experience.
Emailed Response to Open Box:
"Open Box" simply means, the item is out of the original packaging. The chair was either, returned, refurbished, on display or has been in inventory for awhile and since been placed on a clearance. The fabric will be reupholstered in our brand new commercial grade in- house fabric.
Your purchase includes a 30 day return and 10 year warranty with Madisonseating.com.
The merchandise is in perfect working condition as you can see by our 99.9% positive feedback on platform like Ebay and Amazon where we sell our OPEN BOX items as well.
Best regards,

RUN!!!! Do not give this company your credit card!!!
I came here because I've had the exact same experience that other people are complaining about. I ordered a chair in July that was supposed to be sent in 10 to 14 days. I kept checking in, and each time was told it was coming in a little while. It's now October and still no chair. I called, but the message says they aren't answering their phones anymore (an ominous sign). I have to e-mail. Basically, I believe this is FRAUD and just want to cancel my order at this point, but no one will respond. Do not order a chair or anything else from this company! You will either waste your time or you will be cheated. It's not worth the possibility of saving a couple hundred bucks. RUN!!!!!!!!!
