I ordered a new Herman Miller Aeron from Madison Seating and have to say it's the worst chair I've ever purchased. First of all it took months to receive the chair. MONTHS. I had to follow up 3 or 4 times before I finally cancelled the order. Their response to me cancelling my order was, 'Too bad because the chair was scheduled to ship tomorrow'. I was suspect to say the least at their response by this point but said, 'Fine, send it.' When I finally received the chair, right away I noticed the paint started rubbing off the tops of all the leg extensions down to the bare metal. I rarely if ever wear shoes in the house so clearly it wasn't my shoes that that caused the paint to rub off the chair. There is nothing that the chair base bumps into in my home office either so clearly it had been touched up with a Sharpie pen or something before they sent it to me. Then I found out that the armrests don't stay up, they're adjustable but don't stay up. You have to continually readjust them and then re-lock them into place. Most importantly, the chair is quite possibly the most uncomfortable chair I've ever had and I am not exaggerating. The seat of the chair can't be adjusted backward or forward so the top front edge of the seat digs into the back of your thighs so badly that your legs go numb. I can't be the only one who has had the issue because I noticed a flimsy removable 3M pad inserted under the front top of the seat mesh to ease the pressure. It doesn't help at all though. I have to stack 3 pillows on top of one another to get any sort of pressure relief. It's gotten so bad now that I can't sit in the chair for more than a couple minutes at a time. Literally. I contacted Madison Seating and they basically said 'Too bad, you're out of your 30 day return policy window.' And 'It's one of our most popular chairs.' Did I mention that the chair squeaks? Yep. I suspect the chair isn't an authentic Herman Miller but Madison Seating claims it is. I tried to verify with Herman Miller but I never heard back from them. I spent extra money thinking I'd get a more comfortable chair. Hardly the case. Thoroughly disappointed is an understatement. Don't waste your money with Madison Seating or this chair. Bad experience. Horribly uncomfortable chair. I would like to mention that I have written maybe 4 bad reviews in total. Ever. I don't like to bad mouth so typically don't. This was bad enough and pricey enough that I felt inclined to warn others though. Lastly, I am unable to post a review on their website. I can only imagine why that would be.

Update: They are doing everything possible to remove this review! I had to send Trust Pilot my receipt. Imagine how many people don't do that and have reviews taken down. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM....I ordered an "open box titanium fully loaded Herman Miller Aeron" with "deep carpet castors" for an additional charge totaling $734. After writing them multiple times, I finally received a used, dinged up barely passable Aeron with black armrests, cat hair all over it and no carpet castors! Definitely not "open box" by industry standards and definitely not "fully loaded" as several of the adjustments are missing or don't work. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility so not exactly "hassle free." They gave me a credit of $100. Not nearly enough.

It took them close to two months to deliver the chair. When it arrived it appeared to be in new condition. When I purchased it I was under the impression that it was a "open box" and it was as close to new as possible. A little after 30 day's the bolt in the seat busted. They said they would replace the chair but I would have to ship it, which is about $300! I had someone local fix it and they said the chair is over 20 years old and that the cylinder will go out in about a year. I CAUTION EVERYONE to understand when you buy from this company you are more than likely getting a refurbished chair. I recommend you go directly to Herman Miller and buy from them to ensure you are getting a new and solid chair. I did not mishandle the chair. It was clear after the chair broke that it was broken before and they tried to repair it and then sell it as an open box to me. I never demanded they send me a free chair or I would write a bad review. I let them know that no one could see that the chair was damaged when it arrived. The way they repaired it before it was sold to me could only withstand a few months before it broke. They offered to replace the chair but would not pay the shipping, which would cost me about $300 to ship it to them, which is half of what I paid them for the chair on the first place. All I’m saying in this review is that be aware that when you purchase a chair from them it is highly likely it is refurbished and if you are okay with that then go forward with your purchase. Also make sure that if you return the chair within the 30 day period that that pay the shipping of the returned chair.

Ordered a refurbished Herman Miller Aeron chair. Site claims all orders ship in 10-14 days. After 3 weeks when my order hadn't shipped, I contacted customer service. Got a response saying that COVID had delayed everything and order would ship in another 1-3 weeks. Snotty response saying all of our competitors are having trouble too. I would have been happier if they'd just said 'sorry, we're trying' but the tone was all wrong. Now 8 weeks after my initial order I ask again - same email but with new delivery dates pushing it another 2-4 weeks. Forget it - cancelled.

If you choose to do business with this company be advised they have demonstrated to me an astonishing lack of customer service, and at this point an almost 2 month delay filling my order. My inquiries about the status are met with an aggressive tone and a « if you don’t like the wait, go ahead and cancel your order » attitude. Perhaps your experience will be different, and I hope it is, but I will never do business with this company again.

Terrible customer service. Initial order said 10-14 days. I followed up after 14 days and they said another month. I follow up after a month and they said another 3 weeks. I cancelled the order. They never initiated any communication, they just want to blame everything on covid. It doesn't take 10 weeks to send a prepackaged chair.

Ordered a chair in January said it was in stock and 10-14 it would be delivered. Almost 2 months later and numerous follow ups on my part and even sending me a fedex tracking number they cancelled the ordered. Horrible communication and no one will talk to you on the phone they just tell you to email them

Took three weeks after ordering to figure out I entered the wrong billing address. They do not preauthorize the card when you initially enter it into their system. As a consequence when the payment method is declined, your order doesn't ship, and they appear to process payment on a weekly basis. Meaning if you mess up your payment, it's at least another week until you know if you were successfully charged or not. What's more frustrating, is I had to call them up to figure out why the order was declined. Their website and email just say "declined" and not as to why it was declined. Maybe they sell good stock, but I won't know. Forget this company.
