***SCAM ALERT**** Madison seating is not a reputable company -they shipped me a chair that literally fell apart when I removed it from the box. They refuse to make good on the item and customer service has basically been abusive. I’ve reported them to BBB and Consumer Affairs. Not sure what’s going on here but buyer beware!
Response from MadisonseatingMar 2, 2023
This buyer did not report any damage on her shipment. Instead she initiated a dispute with her credit card company upon receipt of the item. She refused our assistance in helping her make the return, and stated that her credit card company would allow her to keep the product at no cost due to damage. When the credit card company did not side with her, she got angry and wrote this review. The customer was issued a full refund when we finally did get back the chair. We apologize on behalf of the carrier for mishandling the shipment, which happens from time to time

Misrepresenting condition of chairs and suppressing negative reviews
I purchased a Steelseries Leap V2 office chair from this company through their eBay store. I left honest and concise negative feedback stating that their "new-open box" listing was clearly a (poorly) refurbished chair with extensive signs of use and damage and should not be listed as "new" as it clearly isn't. I sell on eBay myself and know how damaging that can be so before resorting to negative feedback I sent a message inquiring about the condition of the chair and about an arm not locking in place. For the arm I was told to contact their email support outside of eBay (against policy and I'm not doing that) and the concerns about the chair being a refurb were ignored. Worst of all, they got eBay to remove the negative feedback so I'm here leaving a review because I wish I would have known what I was buying and would like to inform others. I have seen several other negative feedback removed in the past few weeks I have been keeping track as well, so clearly they know their listings are lying and choose to do so anyway. I see why they have a 99.7 rating on eBay if they are able to make negative feedback disappear. If only it was that easy for us smaller sellers. Please just list your items honestly and buyers won't feel ripped off. The price is fair for a good refurb from an established seller, but that's not what I thought I was buying and I would have purchased elsewhere had I known the chair was not new.
Edit 1/5/22 - Madison Seating is now contesting this review and trying to get it removed too. Doubling down and trying to suppress valid criticism is the worst way to handle being called out for lying. Please list your products honestly.
Edit 1/9/22 - An arm that will not lock in place, a strut dragging the ground, worn off markings, and rippled upholstery is NOT perfect working condition and it is insulting to say it is. The price is absolutely irrelevant to the point I am reviewing. Used chairs are being falsely marketed as new and that is extremely dishonest. This is 100% valid criticism of this seller being handled terribly.

The review on Ebay was removed because that review, like this one, is false. The buyer received a chair in perfect working condition at more than 50% off the retail value.

Do not buy from Madison Seating
Do not buy from Madison Seating. The chair arrived heavily damaged, pieces were broken and it couldn't assembled. Buy from a licensed Herman Miller dealer and avoid the nightmare.

SCAM AVOID MADISON SEATING
They sent me a chair with a missing part (it's the tilt arm, chair is unusable without it). They claimed it was described on the website as missing that piece. NOT TRUE, they can't provide the listing showing that was how it was listed for sale. It was one of 5 I purchased and other 4 were complete. Refusing to replace. INCREDIBLE. The have offered a return at my shipping cost, which would cost me more than I paid for the chair. If you purchase just be aware that the guarantee is a SHAM and all sales are final with them. Their response below is untrue. We ordered 4 of the same chairs in 2 different. 3 came with all the correct pieces. One did not. They refused to replace or pay for return shipping. Buyer BEWARE
Response from MadisonseatingDec 21, 2022
This review is completely inaccurate. The customer selected a chair that was on sale with free shipping. We clearly indicated the chair will have FIXED arms. This feature was not "missing" as it was not supposed to be included on the chair. The customer did not pay for this feature.

Terrible shipping and rude customer service. Don't buy from them!
I ordered a chair in this store and it‘s been three weeks and I still haven t receive the chair. I contacted the seller and FedEx multiple times and got nothing. I tried to reorder a chair from them. But you know what? They don’t accept offer from me anymore. So instead of resolving problem, they just made the problem dissapear. Thanks to eBay s money back guarantee, I eventually get my refund. Don t buy from them!

Shabby chairs, useless warranty, and review control
Their warranty is essentially worthless, and their chairs are shabby. Bought a Herman Miller Aeron from them, and now the chair is broken after two years of use. Their policy is that to use their warranty, you have to ship the whole chair not the part (so you won't be willing to do it), which costs 300 + easily, and they would charge another 95 for shipping back. Generally, it's not worth it to have it repaired, so they actually never need to repair/exchange.
Sure, an authorized Herman Miller costs 1000+, but they have a real warranty and their chair is of high quality and won't break in two years
As of July 11 2022, Madison seating has a 3.5 score which is very high compared to their reviews on other review sites, so I went through some reviews and found the reason. In case their chairs arrived broken, they actually will force you to do a 5-star review here to replace the chair for you, so if you read the reviews, you will find the same story; they leave 5-star reviews to get their broken chairs replaced.
Yeah, so you will get a chair that might be broken immediately or broken in a year or two, and you need to spend 400-500 to use their warranty every time it has a problem.
Response from MadisonseatingJun 23, 2022
Dear Customer,
The Aeron chair you received 2 years ago from Madisonseating.com arrived in perfect working condition. The chair was purchased at $500+ and had a retail value of over $1000. If the chair broke while under your care, you will need to send it to our warranty department for either the repair or replacement of the item.

Terrible Customer Service and Poor Communication
Terrible customer service. I reached out via email asking if I could change the size of the chair I purchased prior to shipping. They told me it was not in stock. I mentioned I saw it available on the website and they told me it was not available, then asked if I wanted to cancel. I replied, verbatim, "Understood. Before I cancel, are there any other Herman Miller chairs in stock in size C? Even if it's not this particular model?"
They took that as me approving the cancellation. This was clearly an inquiry into the rest of their stock on Herman Miller chairs, not a confirmation of cancellation.
They cancelled the order without my approval, then when I tried to place another order for the same product that they cancelled, they told me they would not sell to me unless I accepted a cancellation fee.
Very poor customer service and even worse communication skills. Don't buy here if you have any other options
Edit in regards to their response:
"drove our customer service nuts...inundated their inbox within a few hours" Let's set the record straight
Emails sent prior to them cancelling my order: 3
Emails received prior to them cancelling my order: 2
9:29am- "Hello, I'd like to change this order to a size C chair instead of a size B. Can I please make that change before the chair ships? I'm fine with you charging the card I used to place the order to make the adjustment. Please let me know if this is possible."
MS Response 9:33am "Due to a supply chain issue, we are experiencing some delays on certain items. The size Aeron chair you selected is not currently available. Our last shipment of chairs that came in were all in the Size B only. There is no restock date yet for the Size C"
10:09am- "It's showing in stock on the website and I was able to put it in my card and go through checkout. Is there an error on the site? In the case that the site is incorrect, do you have any other Herman Miller chairs available in size C?"
MS Response 10:25am: "The Size C is purchasable but not readily available. Please confirm you wish to cancel the current order placed for the Size B."
10:32am "Understood. Before I cancel, are there any other Herman Miller chairs in stock in size C? Even if it's not this particular model?"
Cancellation auto email was received at 10:42am. Only reason I included "Before I cancel" is because MS asked me if I wanted to cancel. I never said I wanted to cancel the order.
Here's the kicker! After writing this review, they sent me this lovely email: "We have rescinded our courtesy offer to waive the cancellation fee due to a recent escalation of this matter.
We tried our best to close out this matter amicably and are sorry you felt the need to write an inaccurate portrayal of what transpired."
This company is seriously the worst. Don't trust any of their replies to negative reviews and DO NOT SHOP HERE

This buyer incessantly called and emailed our customer service department many many times about his order. He purchased a particular size and model chair that was available, then asked to change it to another size. We told him the other size was not available and he went back and forth asking for sizes and models that were sold out. His last email to us before the order was canceled said this,
""Understood. Before I cancel, are there any other Herman Miller chairs in
stock in size C? Even if it's not this particular model?"
Reply
As we do not have any Size C's in any other models available, the order was canceled."
We have read our customer service responses and feel this was handled correctly. The customer was ambiguous and confusing. He inundated our emails within a period of a few hours with many many emails.
We wish him well and hope he can make a firm decision on what he would like to purchase before placing his next order.

1/5 Chairs were of good quality
I ordered 5 chairs from them Aeron, Mirra, Leap V2, Gesture, and Amia. I ordered on 3/29. I did not hear anything for a couple of weeks. All but two chairs came in individually spaced out over several days. They do not answer the phone and are slow to respond on email. You can't see the status of multiple shipments in their online portal, so when something does ship, you don't know which it is or when to expect it. I was very concerned at first that the company might have been fake. By the first week of May all chairs had arrived. All were from their remanufactured line-up. 1/5 lived up to expectation of a remanufactured chair. It was an Aeron. The fabric on all Steelcase products was very poorly done, I would not trust them on a reupholstered chair. Many loose threads and in general it looked like a very low level of quality. The Leap V2 had five different concerns. Three different components broken in shipment. It took me four emails with pictures along with a threat to challenge the credit card statement for them to ship repair pieces. When they did ship, there was no instructions, so if you are not mechanically inclined, you would have little to no chance of fixing. Additionally, their is a permanent seam in the back of the upholstery because they glued it in place without smoothing it out. They also did not trim excess fabric on any chairs, so you have random pieces of fabric sticking out from the chairs. The Steelcase arm pads are designed to be replaced, but to save a few buck they did some weird reupholstery to it as well on the Leap. The Gesture and Amia, appear to be new pads, or at least in great shape. The fabric edges is the big negative one those two. The Mirra chair we ordered either had bolts stripped in the frame from the factory, or they did not install the correct bolts. Whoever installed, did go out of their way to make it look correct. The result is that it took about two weeks before the back of the chair separated into 3 pieces. The company won't ship new bolts, or replacement chair back. Their only solution is to ship back the whole chair back and then they will replace. The problem is either a bolt of the chair back. Neither of those make sense to ship a whole chair. Either way, they will only take back a chair in the original packaging. If they make an exception you have to find a box that fits exact dimensions. I along with a couple of coworkers spent a couple of hours trying to find the box, and we couldn't. As a last ditch effort I tried to order another chair from them and told them I ordered one to get a box. THEY CANCELLED THE ORDER!!! This is the most unethical, and sleazy company I have dealt with a long time.
