This course is thorough and helpful. I've taken pages and pages of notes and when you implement what Bruce suggests, there is definitely a shift in the relationship. Before starting this course, we had real estate agents and solicitors called, we were done with the marriage. But we're committed to making it work, we've had a trust again conversation which was incredibly healing and we're working on using reflective conversations to nut out our ongoing issues. In honesty, my husband struggles to validate and show compassion but I am amazed at how hard he's trying to learn these skills (so trust the process, even those who struggle with empathy can have success if they're committed to trying). Learning all the ways you avoid your hards feelings, where you can step up and be more loving (I was very bent on my husband being the bad guy) and how to have compassion for your partners behaviours is priceless. There's ups and downs, its not magic, we have days where we forget our tools or try to coach each other in 'doing it right' but all in all, there's improvement and I'm starting to see my husband through a loving lens again, and that feels really really good.
