I was sick of my old plastic lenses getting scratched up, so I took the plunge and bought glass lenses. In today’s “instant gratification“ culture, I was surprised at how long it took to get the glasses, but I have been extremely pleased with how durable they are and how well I can see.

Life-Changing Glass Lenses
I've been searching for this level of optical perfection for years—ever since Vision Dynamics Lab first announced their free-form glass technology.
My first attempt to order fell through when I learned that the lab had not yet actually set up their tooling.
What followed were several more years of searching: a few pairs through Lens Factory using the same Corning Thin & Dark glass material (but conventionally surfaced), with mixed results and a couple of remakes due to lab errors.
For clarity: LensFactory is the retail front of Vision Dynamics Lab, which manufactures the lenses.
A major breakthrough came when another direct-to-consumer lab, Phillips Safety, began offering a digital version of the Thin & Dark glass lens.
Those lenses were mighty impressive at the time—night-and-day better than conventionally milled glass, even though they were only backside surfaced. I decided right then that I'd never go back to traditional surfacing (or plastic digital lenses).
This year, I almost reordered from Phillips—until I discovered that LensFactory had recently upgraded all of their glass processing to digital. I took the chance and placed a new order, and am glad I did. The results are spectacular.
These new lenses are slightly higher in power than my previous pair (same material), but they're 4 grams lighter, thinner at the edges, and noticeably flatter in front curvature.
It's clear that LensFactory/Vision Dynamics Lab is now milling both sides of the lens, not just the back—true dual-surface free-form optimization. Very impressive.
The dual-sided AR coating (with a subtle blue cast) also performs better in low light, and the lenses measure exactly on spec.
They transition from almost completely clear indoors to as dark as sunglasses outdoors—and anywhere in between depending on UV levels.
Comparing clear crown glass to Thin & Dark, I see no advantage to crown glass, even for indoors or night driving. The slight tint is almost imperceptible, and Thin & Dark has all-around better optics thanks to reduced thickness.
For someone like me with a moderate prescription of -4.00 x -0.75, the chromatic aberration of plastic and even 1.6 high-index glass is annoying.
The key advantage of Thin&dark is it's standard index and chemical tempering. Rather than relying on a high-index material to reduce weight and thickness, these lenses are hardened to be milled thinner while retaining the high Abbe value of crown glass.
The result is glasses that are crystal clear with zero chromatic aberration, and not at all thick or heavy. I don’t notice any weight—only quality, spectacular clarity, and durability. It’s an all-around marvelous lens material.
Particularly outdoors in the sun, the contrast and clarity is just dazzling. I can see the most distant fine details like never before—almost like a superpower.
At first, the sharpness was beyond what my left (non-dominant) eye was used to seeing, but after a few days of catching up, both eyes are now seeing perfectly—and my right eye is testing beyond 20/15.
The combination of a digital prescription, standard-index Thin & Dark glass, and full free-form dual-surface digital craftsmanship, delivers a level of optical precision that simply doesn't exist in plastic or conventional lenses.
I'm also very particular about edging, bevels, and overall aesthetics. These lenses are beautifully made. After more than three decades of wearing glasses, I can say that these are the finest lenses I've ever owned.
Dual-surface free-form digital glass lenses are the holy grail of optics—and LensFactory is currently the only consumer channel offering this capability.
(P.S. You should update your product page—this advancement is a major selling point!)

Consistently Great
This is the 3rd or 4th time I have purchased lenses from you. You are one of few companies that make GLASS lenses. I refuse to buy plastic lenses because I scratch them.
