Hireright employees are extremely incompetent

I have been an employer/client of HireRight for approximately 13 years, and the decline in customer service over the past four years has been extremely disappointing. Front-line support is often ill-prepared, emails frequently go unanswered, promised follow-up does not occur, and issues are too often “forwarded” to another department with no clear ownership or resolution. For employers who depend on timely background screening and portal access, this creates unnecessary delays and frustration. Long-term clients should not have to repeatedly chase for answers or explain the same issue multiple times. HireRight needs better-trained support staff, clearer escalation procedures, and real accountability for customer follow-up. Based on my recent experience, I would caution other employers to expect slow responses, inconsistent guidance, and a frustrating lack of ownership when problems arise.

They are slow to respond despite always wanting more info from you. Their facial recognition would not work no matter which pc or iphone I used. I kept sending them photos and they said they didn't work. Same photos of IDs I have used elsewhere with no problems at all. I cannot believe how bad my experience has been. I keep asking them to just call me and they won't. They don't deserve to be used by any company and any company that does is also a poorly managed company.

I am currently in the process of a background check HireRight for a position with a major national law firm. I received their offer letter 8 days ago and immediately responded to the information request, filling out a long form similar to an application form asking mostly for the information already provided on my resume. Since then, I've received emails almost daily requesting more and more information and documents. I've gone through background checks many times before without having to produce any additional information and documents once I completed the intake form. HireRight seems to be asking me to do all their work for them. The only reason I can imagine that companies use them is because they must be the cheapest background check company out there. I am considering now turning down the offer even though I WAS really excited about the role and I HATE my current extremely toxic company. Using HireRight seems pennywise and pound foolish if your background check company causes you to lose good candidates due to frustration. Any more information and/or document requests, and I'm done. Companies who continue using HireRight may find themselves with only extremely desperate candidates continuing the process to completion. Those of us who still have jobs (as bad as they may be) do not have time to deal with HireRight's BS.

They do not deserve a star. This company delayed my start date to begin work. They have a lot of miscommunication. I submitted the W2 forms, and they asked to confirm my work experience with the exception of one year, 2019. Then I was able to retrieve it from the IRS site, which my overlook on a drop-down box, and makes your W2 forms available from 10 yrs back. So proceeded to chat with Hireright, and this conversation took 95 minutes to complete. Long story short, they asked if I had the last pay stub from the company I worked for at the end of the conversation, after saying they were able to confirm my employment dates from 11/2022 to 04/2026. They make getting started on the job much harder than it should be. They make companies that hire you for the job look bad. There has got to be another way. They are not reliable for the person looking for work. You wind up losing interest in working for the company and lose days of making money. They are repugnant, and I am insulted by having to deal with this company. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible, Horrible company.

A customer came in to our print store a week or so asking for help with HireRight. Ever since we have been getting 2 emails a day from them with no way to unsubscribe or contact them to get them to stop. This is a shady company. Find something better.

This is by far the worst, most incompetent, Immature, incapable company possible. It seems like the PE acquisition prefered profits over anything. The staff is incompetent, slow and has now delayed the process 4 times needing constant spoonfeeding and handholding. Please hiring companies, stray away from using this company.
