The on-boarding for I9 does not work.
The on-boarding for I9 does not work. The phone support is difficult to access and unhelpful. It's use of cheap uneffective automation is substandard and irritating. I may not take the job.

If only I could give this a zero. This is the worst company and system to check background and I have in the past been hired for companies that needed clearance for immigration purpose. There is no way to re upload documents if you accidentally download the wrong one ( like a form unsigned instead of signed due to a doc not saving) until days later when it is rejected. There is NO way to reply to emails even though they send you lengthy emails which is obviously written by a human. No signature, no name. I like to know who I am speaking with when I am communicating by email. These people are cowards, useless, hiding behind a screen. They don't read, they don't listen. I was self employed for one of my position, I sent all appropriate documentation including tax returns and still denied it and I had to literally point out how I had submitted all the appropriate information for them to accept it. I also gave paystubs for jobs only to have them say they could not verify employment, how crazy is that. Horrible. I think they are also out of Europe. I do not know understand why employers use this company if they are US based. Just horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Oh and today they asked me to make a form darker, well it was pre filled by my employer and I can see fine. Everyting is absolutely clear.

HireRight re-reported background-check data on me that had been deleted in July 2026, without the written notice federal law requires. Their report showed a false Lyft safety report (June 23, 2026 — an allegation that was never investigated) as 'data found,' then 'data not found' after correction, then the deleted data reappeared and got my Uber driver account deactivated a second time. They refuse to show full file details. CFPB complaint #260930-39119869 filed. A background-check company that recycles deleted false data can cost you your livelihood.

If you are an employer, I beg you DO NOT USE hireright. The incompetence of this company has caused me so much stress. They cannot verify basic things, e.g. told me the address where I live does not exist.

My employer outsourced some part of background check to Hireright, and the guy responsible had issues calling my previous boss. He kept spam calling him and annoyed the hell out of him. This service is very Unprofessional

Very poor experience and I fully agree with all the other people complaining here. I am almost convinced not to accept an offer due to this highly bureaucratic process in which I've already provided proof of employment and now they are coming back with requests for contacts for a company that I haven't worked for in 2 years, specifying that the contacts still need to be employed in that company. As if I have nothing better to do than track down my former colleagues. This is outrageous and companies need to read the comments about HireRight. Someone mentioned you do not feel like a professional but an escaped convict and I fully agree. Also, why are big companies hiring and paying HireRight when all of the verification work is done by their future employee???

The most IMBECILE hiring process! It is outrageous that big companies pay for such lousy service and absolute inexistent professionalism to take care of their screening process. The fact that it takes several weeks, even months, for them to actually do their job is beyond me. What a sad and disappointing way to welcome new employees..
