Caution Advised: My Experience Buying a Car at HGreg
I felt compelled to share my recent car buying experience at HGreg to help others make an informed decision. The salesperson was pleasant and patient, assisting me thoroughly as I selected my vehicle. However, the financial side of the transaction raised some concerns that I believe potential customers should be aware of. The initial price of the vehicle was $23,000, but with all the added fees and services, my total loan escalated to $35,000. Here’s a breakdown of the additional charges: Pre-Delivery Fee: $1,299 Electronic Registration Fee: $899 Ally Gap Coverage: $1,200 Alpha Warranty Protection: $4,681 (I opted for this comprehensive bumper-to-bumper coverage, anticipating it might benefit resale value in the future.) Anti-Theft Protection: $799 Elite Protection Plan: $1,495 (This was required by HGreg, not optional.) Sales Tax: $1,600 County Tax: $50 Sales Tax on Ancillary Products: $488.25 Doc Stamp Taxes: $124.95 I am sharing this to keep potential buyers informed, as I suspect not everyone is charged uniformly. If anyone notices any discrepancies that could suggest legal recourse or a way to recover some costs, please let me know. I feel taken advantage of and will ensure my review remains visible to aid others.
