Excellent template and very useful! Other sites make you jump through a ton of hoops, so grateful I found this site!

As an independent web and graphic designer, I'm happy that I made the switch to Bonsai several years ago. The platform was made with freelancers in mind and I use most of the features every day. The interface is easy to use and recently underwent a beautiful new facelift! I also love how much this company values customer feedback. It's awesome to be able to offer suggestions for new features and then a little time goes by... and then you find out that new feature you wanted... well they did it! :) Customer service is great too. I've only needed help with things a few times, and they've always been able to help me resolve any issues very fast. Highly recommend!

Overall, Bonsai is a fantastic tool for my freelance business. There are some things I've noticed that I would change (sometimes payments take a while to process, there are weird things that happen when logging in, etc.), but overall it's a great tool.

Love working with Bonsai! Makes all our contracting and invoicing WAY easier! I also love their customer service. They went above and beyond to offer me a solution that was even better than the one I wanted.

I have been using Bonsai for about 6 months and love the all in one aspect and the ability to fully customize proposals. However I have found the interface to be very buggy, and when these issues are brought to customer service they seem very defensive and condescending when something is clearly a bug or at best, something that is very poorly designed. They seem to be very unfamiliar with their own software. When I contrast that with the level of customer service that I get from Flodesk, the other major software I use, there is a world of difference in how familiar customer service is with every aspect of the user experience and how respectful they are of customers. When I am taking my time to report bugs or request features, I would expect at least a thank you for my time, instead of weird gaslighting. Some specifics: 1.) Timekeeping: When the timer is adjusted (say I went for a walk and forgot to stop the timer) you have to reload the page to see the changes. 2.) Timekeeping: There is no data available on when the timer has stopped and started throughout a day. There is no way to tell what time of day a timer has been started. No ability to set custom reminders to alert when a timer has been going for longer than x. No way to start a timer from the time tracking page. The only way is the widget at the top right and once a timer has stopped no way to start a new one besides reloading the page. 3.) Timekeeping: when you type in the field to find a client to add to the timer, only the name of the project (not the client) is available to populate the form. The client name is the most important information here since so many projects will have similar titles. 4.) Proposals: Proposals say "accepted" on the freelancer end when they are not accepted and deposit has not been paid on the client end. The client sees that they must pay the deposit to "accept" the proposal. Customer service claimed that "accepted" and "approved" are different steps in the process. I sent screen shots that clearly contradict this claim but they seemed very defensive and unwilling to admit that this is a problem or offer a solution. 5.) Proposals: When I start a proposal from a template, proposal-->new proposal-->template-->my templates they are listed in alphabetical order with no way to sort by date. 6.) proposal --> contract: There is no workflow to lead the user from a proposal to a contract, which is essential. All work relationships should have both and there is no way to facilitate this. 7.) Proposals--> invoice: There is a feature to charge a deposit to accept (or approve -- since they claim these are different things) a proposal but no way to auto generate subsequent invoices based on that proposal with the 20% that was already paid subtracted from the total. Hope this is helpful for anyone who is considering investing their time into setting up this app. I switched to Hectic, and most of the issues I had with Bonsai have already been solved. It's also cheaper and they seem more customer focused.

I've been using Bonsai for a little over a year now. The platform is perfect for what I need as a small digital marketing company/freelance marketer. The contracts are so helpful, and the invoicing is easy and efficient. Having a section to keep track of income/expenses (that's not excel) has been a lifesaver. Highly recommend.
