About HelioHost

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization powered by a community of hobbyists that offer full-featured web hosting services for free. Our mission is to provide high quality web hosting for free to as many people as possible. We believe that everyone should have access to their own website whether they're a student to a small business owner, and everything in between. We're operated by a team of highly experienced volunteers who are passionate about what we do.Many schools around the world don't have the resources to provide their students with an online environment where they can learn to create a website. HelioHost aims to solve this issue by providing free hosting accounts for the teachers and students. Many small businesses can't afford to pay for hosting in order to sell their products online. HelioHost aims to solve this by providing free hosting and low cost hosting to small businesses to allow them to have an online presence. We offer as many free hosting accounts as we can, and we also offer donation based hosting accounts to help offset the cost of providing hosting for free. In addition, we provide affordable VPS hosting plans and scaling pricing based on usage for people who wish to upgrade from the free plans. We encourage community members to help each other, and recruit new volunteers from the community who are the most helpful. We own all of our own hardware so we don't have to resell hosting services from other companies which helps us keep costs low.

One of the Best Free Hosting Services Out There
HelioHost is easily one of the best free web hosting providers available today. It offers features you usually don’t expect for free hosting: reliable uptime, real control panels, modern PHP versions, databases, and a community-driven approach that actually cares about users instead of pushing ads or shady upgrades. Everything feels transparent and well-managed, and it’s clear a lot of effort goes into keeping the platform stable and fair. For learning, testing projects, or running a serious small site without spending money, HelioHost is hard to beat. That said, it’s worth noting that it isn’t the fastest free host around. Compared to ByetHost, page load speeds can be a bit slower at times. Still, the tradeoff is worth it for the quality, trustworthiness, and overall experience HelioHost delivers. If you value reliability, honesty, and long-term stability over raw speed, HelioHost absolutely deserves a 5-star rating.

Simply the best!!
I have been using Heliohost for many years, and have never had an issue. I would recommend them to anyone building a website who needs a host.

Thanks for the 5 star review, Richard! It looks like you've had your account for over 6 years now. We really appreciate you recommending our service to others, sticking with us for so many years, and the donations you've given us. Amazing and generous donors such as yourself is what has allowed us to stay in business for over 20 years, and as long as you all continue to support us we'll continue offering free hosting for another 20 years and beyond.

Superb
Superb. Reliable. Fast. More efficient than most commercial web hosts.
Response from HelioHostDec 10, 2025
Thanks for the 5 star review, Softhauz! We're really happy with how our Morty plan is working out. We originally came up with the idea for the scaling server back in 2020, and it took us 5 years to get it off the ground. We did a survey to see if there were enough people willing to pay $1 per month for hosting to make it worth the cost and the effort to develop, and the survey came back as a resounding yes. We never expected so many people would be willing to pay us to host their website since HelioHost is well known as a free hosting provider, but you and everyone else using the Morty server seem to love it so it worked out perfectly. Let us know if you need help with anything.

Great Service
Extremely fair pricing that allows for growth. Control panel is simple and easy to use. Loading times are snappy. Storage is good, plus you can upgrade it with a one time fee. I love it
Response from HelioHostDec 8, 2025
Thanks for the 5 star review, Cassian! Our goal from day one was to provide free hosting that is actually usable without a price tag. A lot of other free hosts are basically just a scam because you can't actually host a functional website without upgrading. For instance, some free hosts only allow SSL on the paid plans, or they only allow sending emails on their paid plans, or they offer a large amount of storage space, but a really low inode limit so you can't even install Wordpress because it has too many files even though it easily fits within the storage limit. We've always said we won't pressure people to upgrade, but since it's not free to provide free hosting we do appreciate it when people donate or move to a paid plan like your Morty account. Let us know if you need help with anything.

Reliable, reasonable and helpful
Reliable, helpful, reasonable and nice people
Response from HelioHostNov 30, 2025
Thanks for the 5 star review, Dennis! VPS owners like yourself are an integral part of keeping HelioHost operational. We used to only provide free hosting, and that's still our main purpose, but we got tired of telling people "no" when they asked if they could upgrade to a paid plan or if they could have SSH access etc. Providing VPS service allows our users to stick with us even if their websites and their needs exceed what the free plan can provide. Let us know if you need help with anything.
