Ease of use for larger wide blade knives.but for small thin blades as a filet knife or short blades paring knife, this sharpener does not work. I tried holding the thinner blades up higher but no success.good idea for certain applications.not all work.

My knives are over 15 years old. Professionally sharpened a couple of times. Results were OK. The Hatori was easy safe and the knives are like brand new.

It took a while before the sharpener arrived, but immediately after receipt I sharpened my knives.. within minutes they were razorblade sharp. The tomato 🍅 test proved the sharpness.
