As I was running very late due to problems with the trains, I was pleased to be able to download the app and use my phone as my room key, avoiding the check in queue. This worked a treat, but I wasn't prepared for the obvious draw back: there was no way to activate the electricity supply, so I had to locate the bed & shower room using my phones torch
Please Hilton, if you advise me my room is ready and send me an electric key to my phone, would you make sure it is ready including a dumb key in the slot so that the electricity supply works when I enter?

Better off at a Premier Inn...
I stayed here for two nights at the Hampton by Hilton Gatwick.
The first night a fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. It was very obvious that the staff had not had correct fire safety training as we did not see a single memeber of staff. We were on the 5th floor and no one came to check that we were evacuating. Another guest was disabled and worried that she couldn't make it down the stairs so myself and partner offered to stay with her as she made her way slowly down to Ground level. We were then told by word of mouth it was a false alarm. The following morning there were no explanations or apologise for the inconvenience caused.
I later heard it was due to someone having a shower with their door open. If this is the case and the alarm is so easily set off I suggest getting better fans.
Secondly, the breakfast on offer was extremely poor. The bananas were rotten, they didn't stock up the pastries so were empty when we came down for breakfast at 8am. When we asked if there were any muffins left a kind memeber of staff went and got one, so they did have it available just didn't stock up.
The following morning we had to wait over 20 minutes for the bacon to be restocked at the hot breakfast bar. No sausages were on offer so you were left with just eggs and hash browns for your cooked breakfast until the bacon was ready. Not ideal when you have a flight to check in for.
It was a very dissapointing stay and next time I will stick to a Premier Inn that has similar rooms, plentiful breakfast and at a better price. To top it off you have to pay full price for parking £60 per 24 hours, where I have now found out Premier Inn offer the parking at a discount rate of £25 per 24hours so it is no competition.

Hampton Inn Fort Worth Southwest Cityview
This review is to express my dissatisfaction with the treatment I received while attempting to cancel a trip due to a deeply distressing personal matter. As a Hilton Gold member, I have always chosen your brand for my travel needs, but my recent experience has left me reconsidering my loyalty.
On November 22, 2024, I had to cancel my trip due to the tragic death of my 14-year-old nephew. I informed Brenda Melcher, the assistant manager, about this unfortunate situation, and while she assured me that she would handle the cancellation, I was directed to contact Hilton customer service for further assistance.
When I reached out to customer service, I was met with a lack of empathy regarding my situation. The response I received was anything but supportive. This same unhelpful attitude continued when I contacted the Hilton Honors department, where I felt dismissed and unsupported during an incredibly difficult time in my life.
The way I was treated during this heart-wrenching moment has reaffirmed my disappointment with the Hilton brand. I expected more compassion from a company of your stature, especially given my loyalty as a Gold member. Based on this experience, I am seriously considering abandoning the Hilton brand for future travel and exploring alternatives, such as Airbnb, which may offer a more humane approach to customer service.
I hope you consider this feedback seriously, as the treatment customers receive can greatly impact their loyalty to a brand.

Very good overall and will stay there again.
Stayed at Hampton by Hilton in Canterbury (UK) for the first time, having wanted to spend XMAS here for first time in many years and my go-to brand having no hotel in the area. Never heard of them; they're a 'budget' option of the famous Hilton Hotel brand.
Well impressed; most hotels are a bit good and a bit bad; here, there was a general feeling of near-perfection with a few minor issues. The location was excellent, right in the city centre, and with my three hotel stay essentials in easy reach: Wetherspoons, chip shop, and Tesco.
Not so good for parking; Canterbury city centre was always nightmare to get to and very expensive, however provided. Hotel has taxi-ordering facility, £10 to West station. I came by train and didn't have much luggage, so didn't use either.
Staff were excellent; polite, friendly, and went out of their way to help. Hotel is clean, modern, and purpose-built, on site of the old Slatters hotel, if you know Canterbury. Ability to check in and choose your room via the app. Paid £100 p/n for a top-floor room with view of the Cathedral. There are rooms with wider window, but looking towards the west hill near the university. If there's a wide view room with a view of the Cathedral, it must have been already booked.
Room was almost perfect. BIG TV with loads of options and channels. Heating was good too. Some minor issues such as overly thick pillows, cold coming in if you sit near the windows, and "laptop sized safe" being too small for any but slim small gadget types (my Dell would have fitted, but the aperture was too small).
The only really bad thing about the room was lack of separate heating in the bathroom and the shower not being totally enclosed; stripping off for the shower and getting out of it afterwards is an instant chill :(
Breakfast absolutely excellent! They don't advertise Full English by name, but included components for it as a "hot section" in continental buffet; an inspired idea and means you can configure it exactly how you like. If you prefer a uncooked English option, there's white/brown bread, butter, marmalade/jam, belt-fed automatic toaster, tea/coffee, etc. Not into continental, but from what I could see, anyone who is will be in heaven; huge range of items and croissant warming facilities. Literally the beast breakfast of ANY hotel I've EVER used.
Lunch / dinner menu more limited; no English options; it's all pizza, curry, burger, etc. I eat in Wetherspoons but would have had meals here if the English breakfast menu was available all day as those are also main meal foods. Bar open 24/7 and you can order Pizza any time of day if you like them (I don't).
Got a good laugh out of the marketing, though; you get 20% discount for hotel guests at restaurant next door, which has wider menu. However, to have any hope of affording to eat there even WITH the discount, you'd have to sell your soul to Satan, along with those of your children, your cats, and those of any mice the cats have recently caught, so I wonder who they're trying to kid? Trust me, if you can afford to eat there, you're staying in a MUCH more expensive hotel than this one.
Hotel rewards plan gives you room discounts and free Wi-Fi; the latter of which is good enough for computer updates, zooming, web browsing, streaming music, etc. Premium Wi-Fi is not available at Hampton brand, but not really necessary.
The app is awful. Promises much, so many bugs, though more in the back end server and handshaking side of things. It WOULD NOT recognise my bank app authorisation as there was no easy way to switch directly back to the Hilton app and it went to "We couldn't authorise your card"; had to use old-skool card reader security device, which worked because the Hilton app can host the bank's web page in an iFrame or whatever, so you don't need to switch away from Hilton app. If your bank doesn't provide a physical security device any more, you're out of luck. Had to call the hotel reception to reserve the room and even then, app still insisted on card verification even though it had been done! Hotel still provides physical key cards, which is just as well as trying to obtain the cookie/token/whatever to use the phone's BT as a door key had the same issues. Verdict on the app: MUST TRY (A LOT) HARDER.
But overall, a VERY GOOD experience and I'll DEFINITELY stay there again if going to Canterbury.

Hampton Inn Downtown Dallas EV Scam
We stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown during our Christmas Break from school and work, and we were so mad when we arrived at 11pm and inquired about parking. I told the front desk we drove an EV and would like to charge while we stayed here. Front desk told us hotel parking is "Valet Only" and it cost $40, and if you want Valet to plug in your EV for you, add $10. I brought the website to their attention that states "EV CHARGING is an Amenity", I paid to be able to charge when I booked my room...nobody cared. They tell you: "We don't run the parking garage, a contractor does, you have to complain to the Contractor who makes the prices.

READ BEFORE YOU BOOK!
READ BEFORE YOU BOOK!!
I called the hotel ahead of time to ask about parking and EV charging. I was told the parking was onsite and they had EV chargers.
When I arrived at the hotel I paid £40 for parking and another £25 to charge my car. After 10 mins the charger stopped and took the entire balance of my account. So I went to the reception who, (as I stood by a sign which said every customer leaves 100% happy 😁) told me it wasn't their car park or chargers after all, and there was no way to give me a refund. Also they had no idea who owned the carpark.
So I joined an online chat with Hilton to complain who told me they would help me, then were unable to do anything. They keep telling you on the online chat 'to call our specialist customer resolution team' and give you a number for them. So eventually I click the number on the link and get through to an American lady who said she would organise the parking charge £40 to be returned. Not the charging, that was another company.
So at midnight I had to go into the city centre looking for another charger and car park to use to allow me to get to work in the morning.
I return home to a bill from my mobile provider for £120.00 for the call to Hilton's specialist team to get my £40 back!
Hilton are not willing to budge on this and say it's not their fault I called the number.
Really not sure what to say at this stage, just wanted to warn others

Digital key sucks. Hampton Inn Glendale poor customer service experience.
I’ve stayed at Hampton Inn’s all over the US. The digital key only works on some of the entry doors at most places I stay. I got locked in a stairwell in Glendale, CA Hampton Inn and had to call the front desk. Instead of unlocking it, or coming to open it for me, they told me to leave through the fire door and walk around the building.
