We spent a lot of money on this collar and would thus expect it to hold up to the wear and tear dogs can do on things... however after having for less than 6 months the rivets have fallen out and the rubber collar itself has started to split down the middle. I am not sure why they didn't make the collar part of the same material regular collars are made out of?! I paid under $10 for one of those and have had no issues! Not to mention they won't cover any of it, and referred me to the replacement parts page of their website.

I purchased Halo collar 5 on March 22nd for $524. On March 24th it went on sale for $445. I called requesting reimbursement or credit since it had only been 2 days. They refused. I asked for manager. They called me back still refused. They said I could return the one I purchased for $25 and reorder. This company has terrible customer service.

The collar works for the most part, but it has two large flaws, One is that the collar itself is fragile, lasting less than a year before falling apart and becoming unusable. The plastic cracks, the charging port loosens, and the signal port loses it's cover somehow, so that water gets in and kills it. This happened with two different collars. But the worst flaw is that the static correction is not strong enough for a strong dog. My dog just runs through the fence and goes on merry adventures. I can correct him multiple times, but he'll only come back when he feels like it. The collar might work for a more sensitive dog, but my dog is clearly willing to pay the price of a few mild shocks to go where he wants.

Unreliable. We have had the halo collar for a bit over a year. When it works from the companies end and the wifi is functioning then its a good collar. The biggest drawback is how often thy shut down the collar then send us an email saying we need to fill out a warranty form, and then sometime in the next few weeks we get a new collar. My problem is that we have an outdoor dog, and when the collar gets turned off we have to either tie up the dog, or keep getting him from the neighbors. Also one time the dog kept getting shocks from the collar the whole time, we didnt know what was up with the dog, but obviously he was very miserable due to the constant shocks. So its the unreliability that would make me suggest to try a different collar. I realize that things can sometimes break, but I would think that as soon as they get a notification that there is an error on their end, they should send out a collar ASAP and also refund that month's subscription fees where the collar wasnt working. Then it would seem more taken care of. But at this point I would not recommend it.

The app design, functionality of the collars, and features that come with the collars are great. The collars themselves have a poor design. We have two dogs, one is very active and one is less active. We’ve had the collars for 2 months. For our dog that is more active the metal clamps on the end of the collars have fallen off 3 separate times. Once for the less active dog. The screws that hold the collar together have fallen out several times for both dogs. I got lucky and found the screws in the yard once. To Halo’s credit, they sent me replacement parts for each, but it’s a problem that looks like it will continue to happen. I’m not sure what the long term answer is for the collars falling apart, but for nearly $600, I expected these to stay together WAY better than they have. Not 100% sure these are worth the price, but if you don’t want to bury an electric fence, it’s tough to find a better option.

The collar was working great until about a year in. Every time it would get just a little wet it would take days to dry out and charge again. It finally stopped charging at all. All because it’s not waterproof as described. Our dog never went deeper than a couple inches and swam for 30 second dips. it ruined the collar. Had someone told me that would cut the life short, I would’ve put a fence up around our pond, but I was told that it was waterproof. Now I’d have to buy a brand new collar because they say "we don’t know if it was the water that damaged it". Even though it would only not work if it got wet. So, don’t get this if you have any type of water on your property or at least put a fence up so they can’t swim.. because it doesn’t work as advertised.

Customer since 2023. My high energy dog has a Halo 3+. Build quality is great. However, it has periodic GPS connectivity issues. It's allowed my dog to run free twice. Otherwise, it's been a great collar. Over two years old now and going strong. My old dog has the halo 4. We are now replacing it for a second time. First had a major GPS issue. Second has a battery issue. All under warranty. Build quality for the Halo 4 is a step down. The actual collar has totally delaminated. But they did solve the GPS issues from the 3. I can go get a 550 dollar smart phone and use it for years without issue. Meanwhile Halo can't solve their quality issues. Halo also lowered their collar price but increases their monthly subscription fees over 100%. The old bait and switch. Customer serve has been good. I would give these collars a 5/5 if the quality and technology was better. Overall, I do reccomended. This has allowed my dogs to enjoy our 3 acres. But I can't look past the need to replace the Halo 4 for a third time and I also can't look past the 3+ GPS connectivity issues (yes I've contacted the dog park). Be mindful if you purchase. You may have issues. Lastly. You NEED to train. I see many people who are lazy and put the collars on and expect the dogs to know how they work. Put in the training and they will respond very well.

The collar itself is great, but if the strap breaks or you need new prongs, good luck. It's been over a week since they took my money and I've received nothing. They need to work on their logistics.
