Extremely disappointed with the Halo Collar. The GPS response is painfully slow, which defeats the whole purpose of a real-time containment system. Worse, you can't adjust the warning fence buffer zone, so my dogs were getting beeped and corrected even when they were nowhere near the actual boundary. That's not just annoying, it's confusing and unfair to the dogs.
To top it off, I returned the collar after only three weeks, and was charged a $75 fee, despite their return policy stating "full refund" within 90 days. That's false advertising as far as I'm concerned. Extremely annoying seeing my dogs had the collar on their neck for a total of 5 minutes.
Save your money. The technology isn't there, the GPS is unreliable, and the return policy isn't what they claim. Look elsewhere for containment solutions.

Not worth the price for how long it lasts
I have had my halo 2 collar for little over 3 years now. It has randomly stoped working with the gps. I contacted support just to be told that the gps chip malfunctioned and I would need to replace the collar…. Well they want to charge me 425 for a new collar or 199 if I pay an extra 10 dollars a month. I originally paid 762.00 for this collar and it’s little over 3 years old that’s insane to charge me more and expect me to buy again when the first collar couldn’t even last a decent amount of time!!! I would not buy this collar. Not when you have to pay monthly on it to get service and the collar to be over priced for a crappy warranty that don’t even help when you need it.
Ps I have a garmen tracking system that I paid 1000 for 10 years ago, it came with 2 collars and it still runs perfectly fine with zero issues.
Wish I could reply back so people don’t think this company is actually going to help. You tried to resolve this by charging me more on a collar I already spent way too much for. You’re not interested in helping you’re only interested in looking good by commenting!!

We're saddened to hear about your experience, as it sounds like your collar has developed an issue outside of the warranty period. We've reached out to gather a bit more information, and we'd be happy to continue working through this with you and clarify the options that may be available. Should have listened to all the negative reviews
Our house was built over 4 years ago and it still does not appear on the halo app so setting a fence is horrible. If you do not have a physical fence next to your house, which is why we got Halo, the collar assumes the dogs are in a structure and does not correct when they leave the boundary. The customer support is horrible, phone call? Forget it unless you’re willing to be on hold for 40+ minutes. Chat with a human? Typical wait time is 20+ minutes and if you are not waiting there to chat they will close it and you have to start over. I read the negative reviews before buying but didn’t listen, maybe I can save someone the pain and money of dealing with this product. I have 2 dogs, that’s 2 collars, almost 1000$ and am greatly disappointed. Do not buy
Per their reply, I have updated the imagery in the app, no help and I have put in help requests to have map updated, no help.
I can keep going as well, the reason for the rant about wait times and basically no way to communicate with a human started when I received a notification on the app that one of my collars was fault and they wanted to warranty it, great right? Nope, upon verifying info for a replacement they just turned the old collar off. For four days I tried to contact them as my dogs are now locked in the house when we’re not home, finally a week later I received shipping info on the new collar. Two weeks total will be the time that I have been paying for a collar and subscription I don’t have before the new collar arrives. Really for both collars as my dogs don’t like to be separated so as stated, they’re both inside.
Anyway, reason for the long review is THIS is the most interaction I’ve had with the company in the 14 months I’ve had the collars despite multiple attempts on my part that I’ve had to just brute force my way through

Halo 5 collar randomly shocking my dog.
Purchased a halo 5 collar and within one week of use it shocked my dog multiple times, often several times a day, while my dog was in our house well away from the boundary. For the price of this collar I would expect better. On top of this the subscription for the GPS. I expected better. I will be sending back.

Non working new collar, no support available - don't buy!
20 minute - so far - wait time to chat about a new collar that stopped working for no reason. Get an appointment - none in June. Bankruptcy must be next, because these guys are crashing from a customer service and product performance standpoint.
Update: three weeks after finally connecting to Halo customer support and getting delayed by a "lets try a new charger," they have the following answer.
"We'll escalate this to our specialist team and they will contact you directly my email. No, we don't know when. But "we will stay with you throughout this process."
No contact by anyone for the past 10 days, despite daily request for a status update.
Their reply to my original post is patently false. They never reached out for further information, no help.

My experience with Halo has been so…
My experience with Halo has been so disappointing.
I purchased a Halo Collar approximately less than 3 months ago for my now 8-month-old Golden Retriever. The system is marketed as a premium GPS containment solution, and at roughly $600 plus an ongoing monthly subscription, I expected reliability, accuracy, and responsive customer support.
Instead, I experienced repeated boundary drift issues where the fence line appeared to shift significantly from where it was originally set. On multiple occasions, the collar corrected my dog well inside what should have been a safe area.
The final straw occurred when my dog was lying on his bed, nowhere near the boundary line, and the collar delivered a correction. After spending hours troubleshooting with support, I was told the collar was one firmware update behind and that the issue may have been related to a firmware update that failed to install properly.
Think about that for a moment.
A dog was corrected inside a designated safe area because a firmware update may not have successfully installed. My dog has no way of understanding the difference between a legitimate boundary correction and a software failure. All he knows is that he was punished while doing absolutely nothing wrong.
The customer service experience was equally frustrating. Over the course of a single week, I spent more than three hours on hold with Halo. At one point, I was staring at a Dog Park chat queue that appeared stalled while the phone system reported dozens of callers ahead of me. To be fair, every representative I spoke with was polite and professional. The problem was not the frontline employees—it was the system itself.
What compounded the frustration was the inconsistent information I received from Halo's support team. One representative advised that recordings and documentation from my troubleshooting session had already been submitted and attached to my case. The very next day, another representative told me something different and indicated they could not access the same information. As a customer, I should not have to navigate internal communication gaps, access limitations, or documentation issues between departments. Those are internal business problems, not customer responsibilities.
Throughout the process, I found myself repeatedly explaining the same issue, recounting the same incidents, and answering the same questions. Instead of a seamless support experience, each interaction felt disconnected from the last. For a company selling a premium product with a recurring subscription, that level of inconsistency is difficult to justify.
What ultimately pushed this review to one star—or honestly zero stars if that were an option—was the warranty process. Even after technical support acknowledged that the collar needed replacement, obtaining that replacement became another lengthy process involving additional contacts, authorizations, confirmations, and delays. At one point I was asked to continue exchanging emails simply to verify information that was already associated with my account.
The long wait times were not a new issue either. During the first months of ownership, I contacted Halo support and expressed concern about how difficult it was to reach someone. At that time, a representative advised me that it was better to call on weekdays coz they were staffed. That response was difficult to take seriously. Ironically, the incidents described in this review was on a weekday. Halo continues to actively market and sell new collars yet unable to provide timely support to the existing ones.
When a premium safety product fails, the replacement process should be straightforward. Instead, it felt like I had to repeatedly prove there was a problem despite extensive troubleshooting, documented incidents, and support representatives acknowledging the collar was defective.
The most concerning part is that this is not a cosmetic defect or a convenience issue. This product is designed to deliver corrections to animals. Accuracy and reliability are the entire point of the system. When the technology fails, it directly affects your dog's trust, confidence, and safety.
I wanted to love Halo. I was willing to pay premium pricing for premium performance. Instead, my experience involved boundary drift, false corrections, excessive support wait times, inconsistent communication between representatives, and a warranty process that felt far more complicated than it should have been.
Most importantly, my dog was the one who paid the price for those failures. A containment system is built on consistency and trust. When a dog is corrected while resting in a safe area, that trust is compromised.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Halo.

I used the product for less than a…
Update. . . Halo did reach out to try and make right by offering a replacement or a gift card to reimburse the newly bought beacon. When I replied about taking them up on their offer, it has been crickets. No response.
I used the product for less than a year. Collar will not turn on unless on the charger. Only $500 to replace. I also just bought a remote beacon less than 3 weeks ago to use because of poor connection issues. They will also not return or refund. Worst product ever used. Poor quality. Would randomly shock the dog on the couch. Better off buying a gps tracker

Just a more expensive piece of garbage…
Just a more expensive piece of garbage than the Halo 4. While charging time is shorter and battery life longer, Count on having the collar getting a critical error at some point that will render it useless at least once per year. At that point, your pet will be unsafe for at least 2 weeks while you wait an exorbitant time for the warranty claim (if you’re lucky) to process and send another collar. For $500-600 each customers should expect both better warranty service and a more durable, long-lasting product. The “dog park” is also a waste of time as a customer service model.
