There are some glitches and challenges with the system. My advisor likes it though.

Significant errors (including withdrawing tens of thousands of dollars from our bank accounts without authorization), terrible follow through, frequently changed account representatives such that issues had to be explained over and over again over a period of time while we waited for problems to be resolved. I would not recommend Guideline to another business owner.

Guideline makes my company's 401K Plan so easy even I can do it. One less thing for me to worry about and spend my time on.

Bottom Line Up Front: It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Pros: -Easy setup/administration -Streamlined 360 integration with Gusto -Very low maintenance as both a participant and plan sponsor -Shakeup of pricing from 2 tiers to 3 tiers was convenient and solved some cost structure issues. Cons: -No customization of the fund selection, which means there are some funds in the plan lineup that fail the Fiduciary Scoring test. -Support is very slow (1-2 weeks for response, 3-6 weeks for resolution) -Performance reporting is... lacking. Transparency is very low, and the figures sometimes don't make sense (i.e. 3.46% return on a fund that did 20%+ over the prior year.) -Adoption of a 0.08% basis point fee to cover "transactional fees which were often complained about" is an obvious lie. Almost all of the transactional fees were rare one time events (Rollovers, loans, QDROs, plan terminations) that cost less than $100/year (And don't HAVE to cost anything since they're all automated), whereas paying 0.08% basis points will bring in millions of dollars in revenue to Guideline every single year.

Lately, the service and response time has become slow and subpar.

Easy to use via web, easy to upload data and update employees. Good reminders to let us know when certain dates need action. Meaningful reports on status of employee accounts. Quarterly reports emailed out to employees. Compliance checking is straightforward. Employees can check and update their own data. Employees that leave can transfer their funds or cash out.
