I recently purchased a dining table from Grain Wood Furniture and I could not be more impressed. The table itself is absolutely exceptional — even prettier in person than I expected. The wood grain is beautiful, the craftsmanship is solid, and the table is incredibly sturdy and well made. It truly exceeded my expectations in both quality and appearance.
Unfortunately, the tabletop arrived with some dents and marring from shipping. I contacted customer service expecting the typical long, frustrating process, but they immediately stepped in and took care of everything. From the time I explained the issue to the replacement tabletop being arranged took less than 24 hours. The entire experience was quick, professional, courteous, and completely stress-free.
Shipping issues can happen with any company, but outstanding customer service like this is rare. Grain Wood Furniture truly stands behind their products and values their customers. Between the beautiful quality of the table and the incredible customer support, I would absolutely purchase from them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality furniture and a company that genuinely cares about customer satisfaction.

Overall review
Overall review
I was initially excited about this dresser because it is marketed as “real wood” and the mocha color often sells out, but after assembling and using it, I would not purchase it again. The choice of pine, the fragile finish, the problematic interlocking drawer mechanism, and now peeling on the top surface all make it a poor fit for a frequently used dresser.
1. Wood quality – “real wood” but very soft
This dresser is made of pine, which is technically solid wood, but it is a very soft species and behaves very differently from harder woods.
Pine dents, dings, and scratches very easily with normal household use. Light bumps, setting items down, or brushing against the dresser can leave marks.
Drawer fronts and edges are particularly vulnerable, and on a piece that you open and close multiple times a day, it’s likely to look worn and beat‑up much sooner than you would expect.
Because the wood is soft and the protective finish is minimal, any small impact or pressure is more visible and harder to ignore than it would be on a harder wood or a thicker, sealed veneer surface.
For anyone attracted to the “solid wood” marketing, I think it’s important to know that pine will not behave like a durable hardwood in a high‑contact application like a dresser.
2. Finish, peeling, and overall aesthetics
The second major issue is how the dresser actually looks and holds up visually.
In person, the finish is very dull. It has little to no sheen and does not have the rich, polished appearance suggested by the product photos and many marketing images.
The mocha color ends up looking flat because there doesn’t seem to be a substantial clear topcoat (such as polyurethane or a similar protective layer) to add depth or protection.
The lack of a robust topcoat also means the piece is not well protected against everyday wear. In my case, the top surface has already started peeling at one of the front corners on the top right edge, which makes the dresser look older and more worn than it is.
Overall, it does not look more premium than a typical big‑box or IKEA‑type dresser; if anything, the combination of a very soft wood and a thin, dull finish makes it feel cheaper than I expected for a “real wood” product.
I do appreciate clean, minimalist lines, and this dresser has that basic shape, but the finish quality and peeling edge significantly downgrade the overall appearance.
3. Interlocking / anti‑tip drawer mechanism
The interlocking mechanism was the most frustrating aspect of this purchase.
The dresser uses a vertical internal mechanism (a tall plastic strip with sliding blocks) to prevent multiple drawers from opening at once. In theory, this is an anti‑tip safety feature.
In practice, it caused repeated problems. Certain drawers were extremely difficult to install from the start, and later some became stuck closed even when all other drawers were fully shut.
One lower block on one side in particular never moved correctly; I had to manually manipulate the mechanism just to insert the drawer, and later, to remove it, I again had to reach in with tools and physically move the internal parts to free the drawer.
The same kind of jamming happened on the other side, and the only way to make the dresser reliably usable was to remove the interlocking strips entirely. Once removed, the drawers worked normally on the metal rails alone, but this effectively disabled the built‑in anti‑tip feature.
I understand and appreciate the intention behind an anti‑tip system, but this particular implementation was unusually finicky and prone to jamming. For me, it turned basic drawer operation into an ongoing troubleshooting project instead of a safety benefit.
4. Who this dresser might suit (and who it probably won’t)
To keep this fair:
This dresser might work for someone who:
Is comfortable modifying or removing the interlock hardware if it misbehaves.
Does not mind a very matte, low‑sheen look and is willing to add their own clear protective coat.
It is likely not a good fit if you:
Want a durable, dent‑resistant surface that will stay looking new under everyday use.
Expect “solid wood” to feel and look significantly more premium than a typical veneered flat‑pack piece.
Do not want to troubleshoot drawer mechanisms, remove safety components, or deal with issues like peeling at edges on a relatively new dresser.

ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I ordered a Montauk coffee table and two end tables from Wood Grain Furniture through Amazon. I opened one flap of one box to look at the wood quality and color. Beautiful wood quality. BUT, they sent orange furniture to me! I ordered a natural, cream color. When I tried to attach photos showing the color differences, the photos would not go through. I asked Grain Wood if there was another way to get the pictures to them and they said no. Amazon also said no. The bottom line is: After 2 months of trying to get this furniture returned for a refund, I was directly told by Grain Wood, and I quote "We do not provide prepaid return labelss for defective furniture" (I try to attach a screenshot of their direct message to me, but Trustpilot doesn't allow for attachments). Be very careful about taking a chance with spending your hard-earned cash here!

Interesting that theres a 4.6 on their…Wait till you get the product and when you try to reach out to customer service when it's damaged
Interesting that theres a 4.6 on their website. Received a table that was warped and damaged. Of course one has to put the table together to find out it's warped, right. Well, they don't take returns once an item is "put together." Now they want to send me a new tabletop? I want my money back. Guess what? No customer service phone number to reach a live human being. They advertise "real wood" quality. I learned a lesson: I'm never buying online furniture again. I"m contacting my credit card company to stop payment and I'm contacting the BBB

The worst company on earth! I ordered a queen bed that comes in 2 boxes. They send one box queen, one box king. Still not resolved..you send COUNTLESS EMAILS and NO ONE RESPONDS! Can't get a live person on the phone...found their headquarters' number, it rings once and goes right to voicemail. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A HORRIBLE BUSINESS

Ordered a table and benches
Ordered a table and benches. Benches were missing parts. 6 weeks later and still haven’t received correct parts. Won’t respond to my email about a refund either. Wish I had read these reviews prior to ordering. Their story and marketing all seems good but it’s not. Our bank is going to refund the money! Ha we win, Wood Grain, not you fraudulent people. People here talk about the owner being a bad person and the customer service being horrible. You can’t call them and we haven’t heard from customer service via email. I’ve never had such a bad experience with a company. Usually the customer is right and problems are remedied. This is why everyone buys from Amazon. Got some beautiful chairs from Amazon and will continue to buy furniture there instead. So long, Wood Grain. You’ll be bankrupt in no time because people find out.

4 stars given compared to other build…
4 stars given compared to other build furniture from China. No comparison to the other. It is still a long assembly: with over and under drilled holes, a few pieces too short to fit tight, finish somewhat questionable, etc..
I would still buy again if needed, definitely not store quality. But worth money.
