Over the past 6 years I have recommended petplan to everyone and I am so mad I did. I purchased the plan when my dog was a puppy and over the last six years felt great about not thinking twice about treatments. I was fine with premiums increasing each year for peace of mind. They neglect to tell you if you use the plan they will stop covering you when you really need it as they age. 6 years later after a tumor removal surgery and knee surgery our max coverage has been limited, deductible raised, and coinsurance increased. I was told that I am only eligible for continued decreased coverage bc they have paid too much out. Isn’t that the point of an insurance plan.. for the unexpected without worrying about a cap on coverage. That’s why I started it so young. Not even halfway through his lifespan our coverage is reduced to then being dropped or greatly reduced each year and now we can’t switch to another company bc of pre-existing conditions. I was so happy I got it as a puppy before any conditions arose but they neglect to tell you they will screw you in a few years. I WILL NO LONGER RECOMMEND PLET PLAN TO ANYONE AND NOW WILL CONTINUE TO ADVISE AGAINST THIS COMPANY! They show off their coverage and what they pay in their magazine but neglect to tell you once they paid that they then drop the coverage.

This company was good - about 4-5 years ago. I was told then that because of new underwriters their prices were going up - and the dramatic increase would be a one off. That was not true. The prices go up between 20 - 83% (yes 83!) every year. The customer service is terrible!!!!! They delay assigning claim numbers and processing claims. I regularly have to submit claims 2 or 3 times just to get a claim number. They regularly lose invoices, which delays processing the claim. They open and close and open claims for unknown reasons - again delaying processing the claim. Once they do process a claim it takes much longer now to receive the check. They do not respond to emails. I was told a couple years ago to cc one of their customer service managers on claim submissions and emails so that claims would be processed quicker. That was another false statement. That "customer service manager" ignores emails too. It takes multiple emails, phone calls, and a ridiculous amount of time to process any claim or get any information. After years of price increases of 20 - 40%, this year the increase is 83% - for a dog in good health who has had minimal claims in the last nine years. At this rate I will be better saving the money I would spend on the policy and using it for any future vet bills. I sincerely regret ever insuring my dogs with them.

I had both dogs(ages 4& 5) insured for 2 years. I put through a claim for my younger one. He had a bad reaction to a flea med. long story short ...they only paid 39 dollars for a 670.00 claim then upon renewal raised my premium with no explanation. My other pup who had no claims didn't receive her 30 percent discount and the reason was...her policy is low enough and they can't go any lower. What bull! I ended my insurance immediately and got insurance a lot cheaper and better coverage. I would not recommend at all. Terrible customer service and policies set to help them not the customer.

Absolutely worst customer service ever! Do not waste your money. I spent 2 months only to be told they do not cover tick born disease without proof of preventative. I provided receipts I had, but my mom and I shared stuff because both had big dogs and cheaper when bought in bulk (4 dogs). She has passed away and I have no idea of where she bought, or even if they would accept receipt if I found it. I have provided everything they asked for and then they wanted Doctor's notes? Seriously? They took my money for 6 years and try to make a claim and this was my experience. Sad and cancelling and looking elsewhere.

PLEASE, if you really love your animals, stay away from this company. They are crooks. I am reporting them to a governing body who license insurance companies.

PETPLAN IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!! Been paying into this since March 2020, after Asdas premium went up far too expensive. Unfortunately I had to take my poodle into the vets in October as she kept itching her ears, they did a check up, took an ear swab and prescribed ear drops, and ear cleaner, I paid the excess, and my vets who i haven’t ever changed!! Put through the claim, since then i have had nothing but trouble saying they want history, from me, history from my vets, i was then told that my vets have to ring their vet helpline to get more info, they have sent all the history, that in 2012 she has otitis off one ear, (I did not claim at this one)! So 8yrs so they’re now saying this ear problem of excess build up of wax, where it needs cleaning and might in the future need a deep ear clean, have been told it’s doubtful they’ll pay out!!!! They’re trying to make out it’sa pre-existing condition from 8yrs ago!! An absolute joke!! She’s to go back to the vets tomoz with the same ear problem that’s ongoing from the original claim in October, and may not pay out which will leave me with a bill for hundreds! How can PETPLAN quite happily take money from all their customers yet when we need them the most, especially at this financially difficult time refuse to pay out because a dog has otitis 8yrs ago!!!! They even told my vet they’ve sent it back yesterday to their reassessment department to look into as it says in 2012 she has otitis with a different vet! I have never ever changed vets! I have been with the same vets for over 20+yrs! Just seems as if PETPLAN try to find any loop hole possible. Praying they do pay out, but not holding out much hope at all!! An absolute joke, i would’ve been better putting the money i have been paying to petplan into a piggy bank and saved it!!!!!!

This company is a ripe off. Don't waste your money. I paid into petplan for 2 years when I had to put in a claim and they won't cover nothing. They lied to me when I signed up. I'm now told because my dog has been diagnosed with food allergies they won't cover anything to do with my pets tummy or digestive problems as these are all now considered preexisting condition. What is the point of this plan if they will not cover anything. and if you do actual get them to cover something they now consider it a preexisting condition and will NOT cover any future treatment.

Terrible experience with this company. I was denied my claim, after paying premiums for nearly 3 years, on reasons that, upon my original sign up, was told wouldn't be a factor in the claims process. So I paid premiums for 3 years with them knowing any claim I made wouldn't be accepted. Then, when I did file a claim this past August, they knew within weeks that I would be denied, yet they continued to beat around the bush and make me jump through hoops untill today (end of October). Calling this vet, calling the emergency, calling again and again for months, already knowing it would be denied. Waste of my time, stress and money. Oct 26 Update : I sent my detailed email to the company, I didn't want to bore everyone with my details on here. Nothing will get done to fix my bad experience with this company. the company only responded to this to make consumers feel that they will actually do something to correct this, when in actuality they will not respond or reply, as they haven't seemed to care this entire claims process. It's simply a false public statement to make consumer believe they care. Behind these public posts nothing actually gets done, as per my experience.
