Zero stars should be an option
I would give zero stars if that were an option...buyer and breeder beware. There are MANY negative reviews for a reason. When GoodDog initially set out, I was one of the early breeders. Not only did I actively support this company, but I also personally referred MANY breeders and steered many homes to this site. In other words, I helped build this company up. Gooddog claims “Buyer protection”. GoodDog does not actually “protect” the buyers. They collect a fee to “protect you” when in fact what they do is “ask” the breeder if they are willing to do anything about a dispute. If the breeder says no, GoodDog tells you the breeders’ policies are enforced, you are out of luck. GoodDog demands that all payments are processed through their website. They make it hard to find the ACH payment option, which has no fee. Instead, they make the default payment include the “buyer protection” and charge you for this “service”. GoodDog does not stand behind the good breeders. They allow anyone with a grudge to make a complaint. They immediately shut down the breeder’s profile while they “investigate”. Even if you prove the complaints are not valid, you operated within your agreement or that GoodDog did not show a policy violation or other made-up complaint, they don’t stand behind the breeders. Despite that I complied with EVERY policy and procedure, as well as their directions (or lack of), I was removed from the platform for no apparent reason, not due to a policy violation. There is no appeal option. They refuse to SPECIFICALLY state why there is a removal…there is just a generic “we went over our policies” (which I am sure will be their response to this review) blah blah blah blah. In my case, they were supplied with every single piece of information they asked for and then some. I voluntarily submitted additional information, witness statements, photos etc. In the end, despite the transparency, they refused to reinstate the account even though there was not one policy I did not comply with, and I was able to demonstrate they were not being honest (they claimed they were not given information they were supplied with immediately after they requested it) in their claim they were not supplied requested information. I have been told by MANY high-quality breeders that they have had similar interactions. GoodDog is all about increasing their numbers to give the “illusion” they are a legitimate, quality site to shop from when in reality there are many mills on their site that are allowed to continue while legitimate high-quality breeders are not supported. It is truly despicable that people are allowed to lie about each other and GoodDog refuses to do the right thing. UPDATE: As expected, generic response from GoodDog laced with their ongoing lie about not being given requested information. I submitted screenshots to them TWICE that proved I most certainly did submit everything they requested. Not to mention NO directions on re-application, blocked my phone from calling for directions, refused to answer email about re-application and blocked the original email so a re-application couldn't be completed under that account. Bottom line, they made up an excuse for removal. Breeders beware. GoodDog only has one person's back...theirs.
Response from Good DogJan 8, 2024
Hi Heather, Thank you for reaching out. We’re glad that a member of our team was able to connect with you and share more information about our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies, and how they may apply to an individual breeding program. You can read more here: -https://www.gooddog.com/standards-and-screening -https://www.gooddog.com/breeder-code-of-ethics -https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/good-dog-article-toc#good-dog-policies All breeders in our community may be subject to periodic audits to ensure our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies are upheld and enforced consistently. We understand that previously our team shared with you the necessary documentation we’d need in order to re-evaluate your program, but given that you reapplied to Good Dog under false pretenses and did not provide the requested information, we can no longer recognize your account as part of our community. We understand that not everyone will agree with our approach, but we know that you, as a dog breeder, are working very hard and that you have a breeding program to be proud of. We continue to wish you all the best. Kind Regards, Good Dog Team
