I keep hitting brick walls with some of the breeders and I have no idea why. It would be really helpful to find out why no additional information is provided as to me and my family were denied.
I feel defeated in my search.

Hi Mads,
Thank you for sharing this, and we're sorry the search has felt so discouraging. Finding the right puppy should feel exciting, and we know it's frustrating to hear no without understanding why.
Breeders make their own decisions about which families are the best fit for each litter, so their reasons can vary. But you don't have to navigate this on your own! Please reach out to our Care team at [email protected], and someone will personally work with you on your puppy search to find a breeder who is the right fit.
We're looking forward to hearing from you and can't wait to help you find your new best friend.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

Feel safe and secure with Good Dog
Everything went great. I’m very happy with GoodDog and plan to continue using them to move my litters along. They are both good for the seller and the buyer and have many positive benefits for both. I can’t say enough good stuff about GoodDog.

I purchased a mini Bernadoodle a little…
I purchased a mini Bernadoodle a little over a year ago from a breeder in California. Woman was supposed to be a vet by trade. Gave me the wrong vaccination schedule, didn't remove dew claws. Supposed to be socialized, he was so afraid of people it was horrible. I have spent around $2200 on training and have a 1 year old dog on prozac. Do I love him, yes. Do I recommend Good Dog, no.

Hi Sharon,

Buyer be ware
Buyer be ware. This company is double dipping. Meaning breeder will post price of a dog , but when you go to make final payment good dog will tack on a 7.5 percent for themselves and taxes as well. Breeder and buyer are paying extra fees. So be aware !!! Not transparent about what actual final payment will be.
Response from Good DogMay 25, 2026
Hi Nelida,
We're so glad to hear you found your new best friend using Good Dog!
The fee you're referring to is our optional Protection & Support fee. Buyers can always choose to pay on Good Dog with zero fees by opting out of Protection & Support at checkout, although many new puppy owners find value in what it includes:
-Payment Protection: Peace of mind that we'll step in to help resolve any issues that might arise.
-Support: Lifelong access to our expert team, including veterinarians and behaviorists.
-Puppy training & exclusive discounts: Professional training resources and savings on essentials from partners like Chewy, Rover, and BarkBox.
-Platform sustainability: Helps us maintain our high standards and continue improving our platform to help more families like yours find their perfect match.
Before submitting an application to a breeder, buyers will see that all puppy listings on Good Dog display the price set by the breeder, including deposit and final payment amounts, with this section explicitly noting that the price shown is "before taxes & fees." Every buyer can also click into our "Price breakdown" section on the listing to see a full itemized view of costs, including an overview of the Protection & Support benefits included with your purchase, giving you a full picture of pricing upfront.
We'd also like to clarify that sales tax is collected in accordance with state law and is not a Good Dog fee.
For breeders, a 6.5% deduction is only applied when we successfully connect breeders with qualified buyers like yourself. This helps us maintain our platform quality and continue matching great breeders with loving homes like yours.
Our Care team would be happy to walk you through the benefits you now have access to through Good Dog Protection & Support, and answer any questions. Please reach out to us anytime at [email protected].
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

I started advertising on Good Dog…
I started advertising on Good Dog because they vetted me and asked questions about how I kept my Parent dogs which no other site did. Unfortunately, over the years they have pushed their products on my clients to the point that they thought they had no choice but to buy them. I contacted Good Dog and said I would rather pay a monthly fee then have this and they told me it was easy to not buy their products. That was not true. Then they started charging 6.5% on sales, which was also fine but recently someone found me on a Facebook page and sent me a $100 early reserve deposit for a litter that we were waiting for. I had a link to Good Dog on the Facebook page so they went through there as well and I told them because of that I would need to take the rest of the payments through Good Dog. Unbeknownst to myself or my new client Good Dog assigned phone numbers that they could monitor our text messages while we thought we were text messaging each other on our private phones. When I called to voice my concerns about this invasion of privacy they responded by canceling my account and accusing me of violating their payment policy. Despite several attempts to actually speak to someone, I was ignored. When someone googles Shihpoo for sale in Ohio I come up on their site and when they click on me, it comes up, saying not available. I think they have become greedy and dishonest and what they’re doing has hurt my ability to find excellent families for our pups.

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback.
The buyers Good Dog brings you are the result of meaningful marketing investment, which our deduction directly supports. That investment is what allows us to keep connecting breeders with quality families looking to bring home a puppy.
Buyers always have the option to complete their payments on Good Dog with added Protection & Support, or decline this coverage at checkout.
Our On-Platform Payment Policy exists to keep our community safe, and applies when a buyer first connects with a breeder through Good Dog. In those cases, communication and payment must stay on the platform until the puppy goes home. We've consistently seen that nearly all fraudulent activity begins once those conversations move off-platform, where the safeguards we've built to protect both buyers and breeders no longer apply. To support this, phone calls, video calls, and texting are built directly into the Good Dog messenger to keep those conversations safe.
Please feel free to reach out to us anytime at [email protected] if you have any additional questions.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

$40 fees each payment
While they do act as middle men this can be extremely frustrating. I am unable to say certain words, or send updates, videos of the puppy. After the pup is purchased you cannot contact the breeder without downloading the app… know that they charge $40 per payment, had I know that I would have paid once not twice so with all the fees cost me $100. But not being able to contact the breeder is highly annoying.

Deceptive and Misleading Pricing …
Fortunately I am very happy with the breeder we found on Good Dog and the puppy we ultimately purchased. However, Good Dog's prices are very misleading and deceptive! For example, a puppy may be listed as "$2,000 Total." Any reasonable person would surmise that "Total" includes any taxes and fees. It does not! When I made my final payment, there was $500 in fees and taxes added on to the remainder of my balance! While I thought utilizing Good Dog would ensure that I found a legitimate and ethical breeder, I didn't realize Good Dog would actually end up being the unethical part I had to deal with. Again, i was lucky to find a good breeder, I have a feeling from other reviews ive read that Good Dog is not as legitimate in their background checks as they lead you to believe.

Fees and taxes not disclosed.
We are in process of getting a dog. At this point my gripe is not the breeder or dog but the fact GoodDog did not accurately represent the price. Having to pay and additioanl $500+/- in taxes and processing fees. This is excessive IMO. Fully inquire before using this company.
2/17/26. We did get dog from breeder. They were great. Dog is doing. Well.Gooddog did reply. Basically they say I could have opted out of pet protection and support and could have paid with 0 fees. I was unable to do this and would have. In clicking on their site now I still do not see how.
