The person we bought our dog from was top notch made us feel very comfortable . We have had our dog going on our 4th week and still No paperwork we don’t know when the dog was born or what shots she received . We are not the type of people to tell anyone how to run their business but we did contact her by Email and did get a response all 3 times saying she would send them but still have not received a thing . I’m hoping after this review I hear or receive something ? Our experience was still great please understand that .

Its a great site to find your companion.
I don't really like them charging a money protection fee, it sounds like the mafia. Most people are not interested in paying through good dog because it costs too much. People are already paying a hefty price to get a well bred dog. Thats where people look so that is where I post.

Hi Kelli,
Thank you for the honest feedback, and we're glad Good Dog is where families are finding your puppies. Connecting breeders with serious, well-matched buyers is exactly what we work hard to do.
We also understand buyers are already making a big investment, so Protection & Support is completely optional. Buyers can opt out at checkout and pay through Good Dog with zero additional fees. For those who choose it, it includes payment protection, free puppy training resources, and partner discounts, and every listing has a Price Breakdown so buyers can see the full cost before applying.
If you have any other questions, we're always available at [email protected]
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

I am a "breeder" on Gooddog
I am a "breeder" on Gooddog. They have limited my visibility. Why???
For the MOST self-defeating way possible.
I have 4 puppies. They are 4.5 weeks old.
Gooddog states, AND THIS IS INSANE: "My visibility will be increased when I get more deposits and payments through Gooddog".
You see how this is a terrible business model?? How can I find people who want puppies, and receive payments, when Gooddog is blocking me????
What's more?? I've emailed them at least 5 times, and they don't get it. They just do not comprehend how ridiculous they are being....
[Update]
Gooddog left a reply. It states the obvious but does NOT address the issue, of "reduced visibility". You see how oblivious they are?? They just don't get it. What if every sales" site limited visibility until sellers using the site generate revenue?? It's self-defeating. ...and they just don't get it.

More Cons than Pros!
Pros: Screening is rated as fair, both about potential homes and breeders.
Options to add health testing to each dog in the program is nice.
They did have the video add option for available pups, but recently that option was removed. They do add and remove options frequently, which is inconvenient at times.
Cons:
Their fee they charge buyers is very high ,its 7% and most buyers we tell have no idea this is happening.
You have to agree to pay through their platform, which gives people no freedom to pay what they think the service is worth.
They allow any breeder to be on the site, only having a few requirements:
1) you are who you say you are ( weed out scamers.
2) The breeders must perform health testing, but does not have to publish the results they claim. This does put breeders in a ranking category.
A breeder can join, even if they dont follow the specific parent club's breed standard ( off colors for many breeds are allowed, major structure faults are ok ) while off colors of others ,like French Bullogs, not allowed merle colors).
A phone number that is provided by GD is on the platform when you call a potential buyer, its actually not their phone number. They are tracking your phone calls, and this is a huge privacy concern for me, since this is unlawful to listen or track calls, they can listen to conversations between parties.
People agree to provide information on buyers, hiding their phone numbers , this puts the breeder at a disadvantage on screening people, as doing thorough background checks on potential owners is a priority to be sure pups are placed in safe and the best homes.
They rarely answer the phone when you call, they are always busy.
If they send you a request or an email with any accusation, we have never been provided any proof of any of their email "concern". This is highly concerning from an ethical standpoint .
Follow through is slow, its very concerning, they are the gate keeper of funds when selling a puppy on their platform, delays in payment are of concern for me and other breeders who are on this platform. I have witnessed comments on other groups with complaints of long delays with them.
If they decreased their fee % to 2%,or had a flat fee of 100.00 per sale, that would be fair. Breeders are doing all the work, all the research, all the posting of information, building a program based on research and knowledge, while they sit back and maintain a site and pretend to know what an ethical breeder looks like.
Their fees are too high, they do not need to charge a high 7% rate.
Costs for breeders are high, and keep rising, support breeders who are preserving the breed standard, and are striving for improvement. I have been breeding for almost 40 years, this platform has many gaps that are huge and are in of need improvement.
They have poor and slow communication based on the high fees, they could hire more people to provide much better customer service.
Good Dog has some work to do, to get more than 3 stars from me.

Hi Lori,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
When breeders and buyers connect on Good Dog, they make their payments through our platform. This is how we keep our community safe and protect payments for both breeders and buyers. A small deduction is only applied when we do the work of successfully connecting breeders with qualified buyers they'd like to place a puppy with. This helps us maintain our platform quality and continue bringing breeders loving homes for their pups.
Every payment made to you on Good Dog is instantly verified and guaranteed by us. As soon as your buyer completes their payment and you receive their receipt, you're guaranteed every dollar you're owed — even if it hasn't yet reached your chosen payout method.
Communicating on Good Dog works just like you're used to, with options to text, call, and video call. Calls on Good Dog are never recorded. Our Good Dog Numbers work by forwarding calls directly to your personal phone — just like any other call — while keeping both parties' personal numbers private. You can find any buyer's Good Dog Number in your Messenger thread at any time.
Our support team has been in regular contact with you since you joined our community and remains available to help. We appreciate breeders who are committed to placing puppies in loving, qualified homes, which is exactly what Good Dog is built to support.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

Beware of hidden fees
Love the pup! Good experience with the breeder who appeared to take really good care of her dogs. Annoyed with hidden fees associated with Good Dog. $45 “protection & support fee” and $23 “payment processing fee” tacked on to deposit. On the final bill, $75 “protection & support fee”and $46 “payment processing fee”. So a total of $190 in hidden fees. And Good Dog assesses fees to the breeders as well. Seriously overpaid for the services that are provided. Users should be advised of fees upfront. Nobody likes to be surprised. My advice is find a breeder, then contact them and deal with them directly.

Hi Susan,
We're glad you found your new best friend through Good Dog! We appreciate your feedback about our fees and want to make sure everything is as clear as possible. The fee you’re referring to is our optional Protection & Support fee. Buyers can always choose to pay on Good Dog with zero fees by opting out of Protection & Support at checkout, although many new puppy owners find value in what it includes:
-Payment Protection: Your payment is protected, giving you peace of mind that we'll step in to help resolve any issues that might arise.
-Support: We provide lifelong support from our expert team, including veterinarians and behaviorists, who are here to guide you through every stage of your journey with your new pup.
-Puppy training & exclusive discounts: You'll get access to professional training resources, including personalized coaching and online courses, plus exclusive savings on essentials from trusted partners like Chewy, Rover, and BarkBox.
-Platform sustainability: This fee also helps us maintain our high standards and continue improving our platform to help more families like yours find their perfect match.
For payments made by credit or debit card, there's an additional processing fee that goes directly to our payment processor — not to Good Dog. Buyers can opt out of this fee entirely by paying via ACH bank transfer. Sales tax is collected in accordance with state law and is not a Good Dog fee.
If you have any questions about these benefits, please feel free to email us anytime at [email protected] and someone from our team will be happy to take care of you!
Warmest wishes to you and your new pup,
The Good Dog Team

I really dislike the fees
I really dislike the fees. The dog i'm purchasing went from 1800.00 to 2035.00. Now some was tax but the rest was stupid fees. That should not be. Who can afford all those fees. Should be illegal. This is something people should know before going on this site. And if it was said that I could have no fees I would have gone that route. Where did it say that?

Hi Sandy,
We're glad you found your new best friend through Good Dog!
We appreciate your feedback about our Protection & Support fee. We'd like to clarify that this fee is entirely optional. While you can always choose to pay on Good Dog with zero fees, many new puppy owners find value in the benefits it provides:
-Payment Protection: Your payment is protected, giving you peace of mind that we'll step in to help resolve any issues that might arise.
-Support: We provide lifelong support from our expert team, including veterinarians and behaviorists, who are here to guide you through every stage of your journey with your new pup.

-Platform sustainability: This fee also helps us maintain our high standards and continue improving our platform to help more families like yours find their perfect match.
For payments made on Good Dog through credit or debit cards, there’s an additional 3-3.5% processing fee, which is directed to our payment processor, and not to Good Dog. However, buyers can always choose to opt out of this card processing fee by paying with an ACH bank transfer.
If you have any questions about these benefits, please feel free to email us anytime at [email protected] and someone from our team will be happy to take care of you!
Warmest wishes to you and your new pup,

Don’t trust what you hear from the breeder , do your due diligence!
I almost never write reviews, especially if it’s not a positive one, but occasionally, when I know that my experience may help others, I make the time to do so! I have never had a dog or have been around any, zero experience as far as these amazing angels are concerned! I fell in love with Pomskey a couple of years ago, when I was visiting my niece in San Francisco:), Then she got one this summer and I fell in love with Neela, wanted one just like her! My husband is totally against purchasing dogs or cats when there are so many in shelters who need a good home. I tried to find one to adopt, but was not successful, so, against his wishes, I started to look for one to purchase, and through good dog, I found Kat Wheeler, who was a breeder in Washington state, close to where I live, in Oregon! Since my husband was against purchasing a dog, I was looking for a price that was within my ability to pay for it!
Pomskeys usually run somewhere between 3-5 thousand dollars, but Kat was asking for $1500, which was still high for me, but much better than any other prices in the market!
That should’ve been the red flag, but I did not see it, unfortunately:( I sent her a picture of Neela, my niece’s Pomskey and told her that I am interested in one like her! We started communicating and I chose a puppy! I, specifically asked her about her choice of price, why, I asked, your puppies are so much less than what I have seen in the market and all the sites I have gone and checked?
She told me, I am paraphrasing, she doesn’t care about the money, as much she cares for her dogs to have a good home! However, she did not tell me that her puppies would not look like typical Pomskey! The puppy I purchased from her is NOTHING like a typical Pomskey, she looks like a miniature husky, she is not even as hairy as a typical husky!
She is pretty, but she is nothing like a pomskey! If I wanted a husky, I would go to a shelter and adopt one! I live at the coast and the shelter close to my house has many that need a good home, why would I buy one?
I guess breeders are like used car salesmen, I am not sure about all of them, but Kat Wheeler is:( She did not lie to me, but she was not truthful either!
Please, be careful, don’t be naive like me, I am 61 years old, you would think I should know better by now, but I still have faith in humanity and trust people! I loved what she told me about not caring about the cost as much as wellbeing of her dogs, and fell for her deception!
Be careful, do your due diligence, when something is too good to be true, there is something wrong!
I ended up giving the dog away, I found a wonderful couple who had a 15 years old husky and wanted another one, since their dog is old and sick!
Before judging me, I did not give her away because she did not look like a Pomskey, I did it because I do travel a lot between Texas and Oregon and wanted her to have a stable life, rather than spending a lot of her time in the airplane!
The couple loved her at the first site, I could have sold her to them, to at least, get Back what I paid for her, not considering the cost of everything I purchased for her comfort!
I did not, I let them have the dog, because I saw and felt the love they had for her:)
They adore her, and she loves them, especially her new mom, Soleil, the “Pomskey “ I purchased, absolutely loves Mandy, the lady I gave her to🥹
That was enough for me, because I really do care about the wellbeing of the dog, and not the money it would bring to me!
I hope my experience helps people like me who are totally clueless and trusting, even people who have experience with having animals!
Do your research, find out the write questions and ask them, don’t just trust the breeder even though they are through sites like good dog, go and check their other dogs, if it is possible for you, I should have, because she was not that far from me, 4 hours drive, in fact my friend was pushing me to do so, but I trusted Kat, which was my mistake!
Keeping the right information that effects the decision making process is as bad as lying in my opinion!
Luckily this story ends well, I purchased Soleil, took her to one of the most beautiful coastal cities in the world, called Cannon Beach, Oregon, and she ended up with an amazing couple who love and adore her🥹
The most important part of the story is that I get to see her whenever I want, because they are my tenants and live 5 minutes away from me, so I get to spend time with her and spoil her whenever I am in town😍
I won’t be able to have a dog any time soon, but I’ll be very careful next time!
If my experience helps even one person, I have done my duty and that makes me happy:)

The fees they charge are outrageous
The fees they charge are outrageous! Over $112 just to process my credit card. $25 Protection & support fee. $135 for their "Good Dog training lifetime fee, that you can't opt out of. I don't mind paying for the puppy I want but Good Dog is really rips you off on all the charges!

Hi Kathy,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re so happy that you were able to find your new best friend through Good Dog!
On Good Dog, buyers can always choose to pay with zero fees by selecting an ACH bank transfer. If a buyer prefers to use a credit or debit card, the processing fee you mentioned goes directly to our payment processor, not to Good Dog. In addition, the Protection & Support fee is entirely optional.
Many puppy owners choose to include it because it provides valuable benefits like:
- Payment protection
- Access to training resources and expert support
- Professional training resources and exclusive partner discounts
This fee also helps us maintain our high standards and continue improving our platform to help more families like yours find their perfect match.
We understand our Care Team has already been in touch with you to walk through these details and help explain how the different payment options and fees work. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us anytime at [email protected] — we’re always happy to help.
Warmly,
