I am very happy with my gooddog app , this is my 3rd litter and I didn’t have any problems placing all my puppies . It makes it easy for me and buyer to communicate . The money exchange and deposit to my bank account is seamless and trouble free . I have gotten most good clients and homes for my puppies . I feel safe that the person I am going business with is a legitimate one . I look forward to more transactions with this website .

Good Dog is a Bad Dog
Good Dog began with a business model of never charging breeders. Once they established a significant number of breeders, they quickly changed their fee model to now charge breeders 6.5% per transaction. Additionally they are actively working to suppress any dissent among their breeders by deleting and screening even questions about the new fee change. Quality breeders have begun leaving Good Dog to their unethical “dirty dog” business practices.

Hi Aaron,
Thank you so much for reaching out. We’re happy to share more information about the recent changes we made to our pricing structure for breeders. With this change, when we've done the work of connecting you with a Good Dog buyer and you decide to place one of your pups with them, there will be a 6.5% deduction applied to the deposit (if you have one) and dog payments with that buyer. Payments from buyers you referred to Good Dog those will remain deduction-free.
You’ll have full control over your listing price and desired payout, allowing you to adjust as needed to accommodate this change. Please note this applies only to buyers who connected with you after this went into effect on September 10th, 2024. You can read more about this here: https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/good-dogs-path-forward-new-pricing-structure
We're committed to building a stronger, more sustainable platform for all our breeders. This pricing structure helps ensure our services remain viable long-term, by allowing us to cover the costs of connecting you with qualified buyers, sustaining our operations, and ensuring everyone’s safety. It will also enable us to increase our marketing budget for the first time and reach more buyers so you can confidently place all your puppies through Good Dog.
We’re glad to see that a Good Dog Specialist team member has tried to connect with you to answer any additional questions you have about this change, and what it means for you. Feel free to give us a call back anytime at 855-446-6336, or email us at [email protected]
We look forward to connecting with you!
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

Good but has a downfall …
While it is great for finding potential homes and I have had no complaints up until now, after the second puppy in this litter sold, they charged me $120 per pup when they sold. I know it is a percentage. However, a flat fee of $20 per puppy or something would be more reasonable. How does what I charge change their overhead and costs?

Hi Jamie,
Thank you so much for reaching out! We’re glad that a member of our team was able to connect with you about this issue and help turn your experience into a positive one.
As they shared with you, recently we made changes to our pricing structure for breeders. With this, when we've done the work of connecting you with a Good Dog buyer and you decide to place one of your pups with them, there will be a 6.5% deduction applied to the deposit (if you have one) and dog payments with that buyer. You'll see this noted when you add your listings and when you send or receive payments from Good Dog buyers. Please note this applies only to buyers who connected with you after this went into effect on September 10th, 2024. Buyer beware / do your research!
Buyer beware if you purchase through Good Dog. If using this app, do your best to research the breeders using this app, insist on information about the parents, insist on proof of the health testing, the socialization and puppy-raising techniques being used. Obtain frequent pictures and videos, refuse to meet a puppy at a gas station, and don’t be afraid to back out of a deal if the puppy is not going to meet your needs, family lifestyle, and training goals.
No complaints towards the app. But, like many listing services, oversight of breeders is lacking or is built upon an unsubstantiated level of trust. Breeders can state they health check or health test their dogs, yet provide no proof of that testing or they define that health check/testing as a single vet visit. Breeders can state their puppies will meet your training goals, when in fact, the puppies might not be suitable. It’s like shopping for a puppy out of a catalog (online catalog) based on looks and not on aptitude, temperament, and personality. While there are some legitimate breeders who advertise through this site, there also seems to be large number of non-AKC backyard breeders, breeders who seem to operate like a mini puppy mill, and breeders who knowingly or unknowingly are deceptive. I’m told this is what to expect with online-app purchasing platforms. I’m old-school where you meet the puppies parents, you see how they were raised, you have conversations with the breeder, and you conduct puppy testing to ensure suitability.
I did not have a favorable experience with a couple of breeders via this site/app and I am grateful for the Good Dog breeder team for negotiating the return of my deposit. I won’t pursue this app again. No fault to the app. The fault lays with the lack of oversight of the breeders, the misrepresentation of some puppies, and to those focused on the money and not the betterment of the breed.
