Australian website but payment processed overseas – undisclosed $55 fee and no invoice provided

I purchased a mini PC from the Geekom.au website. The site uses an Australian domain, displays prices in Australian dollars, and the product was shipped from within Australia, which strongly suggests the purchase is a domestic transaction for Australian customers. However, after the purchase my bank charged an international transaction fee of $55.09 because the payment was actually processed in Hong Kong. At no point during the checkout process was it disclosed that the payment would be processed overseas or that an international transaction fee might apply. I contacted Geekom customer support to explain the situation and requested reimbursement of the $55.09 fee, as the additional cost arose solely because the payment was processed internationally. The company refused to reimburse the fee and instead offered a small “gift”. During the correspondence, they confirmed that they are an overseas company, but this does not change the fact that the geekom.au website clearly targets Australian consumers through the use of an Australian domain, AUD pricing, and local shipping. Another concerning issue is that I have repeatedly requested a tax invoice or receipt for the purchase for warranty and record-keeping purposes. Despite asking multiple times, the company has still not provided a proper invoice. The overall experience has been extremely disappointing. The website presentation makes the purchase appear to be a normal Australian transaction, yet the payment is processed overseas, resulting in unexpected bank fees, and basic documentation for the purchase has not been provided. Consumers considering purchasing from the geekom.au website should be aware that transactions will be processed internationally and will incur international transaction fees. Because the matter could not be resolved directly with the company, I have reported the issue to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and NSW Fair Trading so that regulators are aware of the lack of disclosure regarding international payment processing.

Inexpensive, Solid Mini PCs
My Mom was using an old laptop of mine that was starting to die and I needed a new system for her that could run Windows 11 and wasn't junk quality, but also inexpensive because she has very basic needs. I found the Geekom Air for something like $350CDN and I've honestly been very impressed with it. It has a solid, metal construction which you never see on a system like this, plenty of connectivity and even though it's just an Intel N150 CPU, it runs Windows 11 for general purpose needs extremely well. The machine arrived quickly and also came with no manufacturer bloat, which I expected given its inexpensive price. If I had any complaints, it's that the driver and BIOS support is a bit lacking, but on a system like this, that's really not important. I can't speak to the quality of their support as well, the system's been solid and I haven't needed it yet. If you need something in the niche Geekom serves, this is a good option to look at.

Specifications on Website are Inaccurate
I purchased a X14 pro but before I purchased when I was looking on the Website where it shows the specifications there is an Other Software tab where it mentions Office. But, Office, is not in fact included. Office being included was the item that convinced me to purchase from them rather than another company. I asked Geekom to update the webpage, to protect others. They still have not updated the webpage Now how is the quality of the laptop? The computer seems fine, but the battery does not last nearly as long as they said. In 2 hours, my battery went from 100% to 78%. Order #US117619 UPDATE: I am pleased to announce they removed the inaccurate information from the website. That doesn't, however, make my situation any better. I purchased the product with the false information in mind. I think they should provide me with the software they said was included. They did give me some suggestions on improving my battery life. However, there are several reviews from some pretty well know reviewers that state the battery life is pretty poor. Their support is SLOW but they do get back with you eventually. I still wouldn't recommend buying a product from them over some more well-known companies. If they provided me with the software, they said was included I would increase my rating.

GEEKOM has great options
GEEKOM has great options for their prices. Awesome little packages with built in good hardware. I am more than impressed with the size - seems I never have enough work space on my desk. GEEKOM doesn't take up any desk space. I love it. The PC is small enough to take with you like a laptop... as long as you have a monitor, keyboard & mouse. Works great for my son that wants to transport from one house to another. The GEEKOM Support Team was also great when we needed their help. I will be a longtime GEEKOM customer.
