Update: graphics fixed, but we found the cause, not support
An update to my earlier review. The Radeon graphics on my A9 Max now run under Linux. The hardware was fine all along. The cause was a boot setting in my Linux install that tells graphics drivers to stay off. The AMD driver followed it and quit straight away. One look at the boot line and the driver's first check shows it. Once the setting was overridden, the 890M started first time. What disappoints me is how long it took. I worked with GEEKOM support for weeks, sent them the details, and the answer was that Linux graphics wasn't on their roadmap. Nobody asked for the boot line or traced the error. Anyone who knows what this box ships with could have found it in minutes. In the end we found it ourselves. The machine is excellent. CPU, graphics and the AI chip all work now, and it runs my work every day. Support was polite and honest, but it needs people who can diagnose Linux, not just pass the question along. If you run Linux and the graphics won't start, check your boot line for "nomodeset" first.

We’re really glad to hear your A9 Max is fully up and running for your daily work now. Our team should have picked up on the nomodeset flag sooner, and we truly appreciate you calling this out. Your feedback is a valuable learning opportunity for our support team to better assist Linux users moving forward. Thanks again for your patience and for sharing such a helpful tip with the community! GEEKOM Support
