Estimate extremely less than actual cost. Some items were damaged and missing shelves.
On 4/6 I booked with Freedom Express my moving from 44708 to 55921. I later found out that my move was subcontracted to Master Movers. Two of my items were damaged, and I can't seem to get any assistance. I feel I was overcharged. I was told I used more square footage, but who knows? Some of my items were shrink wrapped together which should have saved some square footage. My charge was much higher than the original estimate. I went with Freedom Express out of Florida because it is Veteran owned.
Account # is 3865030 with Freedom Express. Account is #194227 with Master Movers out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Once they get the money you get no more…
Once they get the money you get no more help from them. You call them and ask questions and they say they will call you back with the answer to your questions right after there meets is over and you never hear back from them. So you call again and now they’re upset you keep calling them. Never will use them again and I tell everyone

On February 16, 2023, I filled out an online form to get a quote for a move from the Atlanta area to the Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL areas. Kris Akin, one of Freedom Express's sales representatives, contacted me. I worked with him over the next month to get my estimate in order but advised him that until I got into my storage unit, I couldn't finalize and sign a contract. He told me (in writing) not to worry and begged for me to trust him, and that my contract said that whatever inventory I added would ONLY cost me an additional $3.29 per cubic foot. I told him my items would not fit into a standard box truck, and that one of my pickup locations and one delivery location could not accommodate tractor-trailers. He told me (in writing) they would send two box trucks at no extra charge. The night before my move, I had a "quality control" call with Richard from Freedom Express and told him I was adding an additional 202 cubic feet of cargo. At that point, he told me that the 202 cubic feet that were supposed to cost an additional $664 would now cost me an additional $1,450. I asked him how he came up with that number, and he started rambling on about how the front of the house needs their money and wouldn't give me a straight answer. At this point, I was at their mercy and forced to immediately pay.
Freedom Express sold my moving contract to A+ Moving and Storage. They showed up at my storage unit with two box trucks. One was a Penske rental truck that only holds 1,700 cubic feet. So then even though I was guaranteed two trucks at no additional charge, A+ refused to take my items until I paid them an additional $929.40. So my $8,538 move ended up costing $10,465. The items that did not fit on the 1,700 cubic foot box truck were put into storage and delivered via tractor-trailer two weeks later. Paula, their logistics coordinator called me to ask how my move went, and when I told her about the extra charges, and the tractor-trailers and told her I still hadn't received everything, she acted sympathetic and told me she would resolve it. At this point I had already gone and read other people's comments about her, so I was expecting to be ghosted. Then of course she ghosted me.
Advice: Do not go with any moving brokers. It is stressful, they lie, and it doesn't save you any money. The only reason I am giving two stars is that the delivery guys from A+ worked their behinds off and delivered everything without damage. We tipped them VERY well, as we didn't want to take our issues with Freedom Express out on them. Later I found out that one of the delivery men asked my 22-year-old son for a tip when we had already tipped him $200 (just for him).

Like many of these reviews
Like many of these reviews, things started out incredibly well. To assure reviewing correct company.
JERRID was my “coordinator” who explained the process thoroughly and was readily available for my move from CA. I was told by him that their truck was dropping a load from Vegas to Santa Monica which was very close to me allowing for a quick pickup and delivery as headed straight back.
In reading other reviews it seems this is commonly said but not true.
Once I signed and my payment processed, (thousands of dollars) the only communication I received was via text or email despite requesting a call back. He stated that he was on vacation but did answer via text and email still so that’s something.
However, if you will be unavailable, someone else should’ve been covering to address issues and answer questions.
No one called me until the Friday before my move which was scheduled for Sunday the 12th or Monday the 13th pickup and I had to initiate that several times. I was told Monday between 11-5. Saturday evening the 11th, I received a call stating, we are your movers and we will be there tomorrow the 12th between 8-11 am leaving me to scramble last minute to assure all was ready.
Those specific movers who picked me up in Cali however were incredibly friendly, thorough, efficient, and careful with my stuff. They specifically did a great job although of course I needed more cubic feet costing another grand (specifically discussed with JERRID who assured they use best software to figure cubic feet needed/nothing was changed or added from estimate so I was not going to have charges tacked on/we even discussed stairs at my new place) I was told truck was headed straight back that day the 12th after getting one other persons stuff loaded and delivery possible 20-22. I called for 12 days straight to customer service to get date as the time frame passed by of when I was told (which always went to voicemail). I left repeated messages for them and Paula specifically with no response or call back. I finally got Paula on the phone on the 22nd portably because I called from a private number and not my own and she said to call back Monday the 27th late in day around 4 pm for an updated idea of when delivery will happen. JERRID responded via email it’s usually 14-21 days which I understand but not what I was told especially as I drive across states quickly to be here in time for estimated 20-22 delivery. Mover called late in day the 24th and said 5-7 days for delivery but would call the day before they would arrive. To their credit the drivers are the ones who DID consistently communicate as promised & the only ones who called when they said and answered messages. I specifically asked so we are talking Tuesday-Friday (28-31) for delivery and was confirmed yes. I called Paula as directed the 27th around 4 pm and it went immediately to VM again. I left a message with no return call despite many more attempts for several days. She did send an email on 3/30/23 giving me a number to call someone else instead of her. First helpful thing she did.
The issue with this company is simply operations are not coordinated and communication is almost non existent. Parts of this move were seamless and great, others not so much.
When Freedom Express improves their operations and communications, they will be an amazing company who I have no doubt will get business, just not mine again until things change. Their customer service is almost non existent and extremely disappointing. I have moved a lot due to my work and even as disappointed as I am with this company, they are better than the other options out there but who wants to choose between bad and worse? The things written regarding communication and lack there of, believe it!
Just be prepared to not know what’s happening with your things and to be stressed at a time when your stress levels are already at an all time high. No company should take 12 days to respond and only then because you happen to get lucky and they pick up the phone when YOU call them again and revert back to no communication. Everything JERRID repeatedly assured me would NOT happen, happened. Sadly, no one seemed to care and for that reason alone, I will never refer anyone or utilize them again.

I can’t even give this company one star I paid them $750 now they will not return my phone calls or answer any of my messages. They are a complete rip off company. Read all the reviews on the company before you make any decisions.
