Inaccurate/poor communication and customer service
I believe the other negative reviews here, based on my own experience. I also successfully pursued a chargeback through my credit card on the money paid to Freedom Express - all charges paid to them were reversed. TL; DR: Freedom Express got us to sign paperwork with them having shared blatantly incorrect and incomplete information, then became only intermittently available for support and guidance. Some employees were hostile. The company shirked responsibility for even knowing where out stuff was in transit (they are a moving broker, not a moving company themselves, as we later found out). Freedom Express reached out to me with a great rate shortly before our cross-country move (I'd previously explored moving truck options, but decided on a Uhaul until they reached out specifically). At first, it seemed great - the person who reached out was very responsive and introduced herself as our "moving coordinator" and specifically said she'd be out point of contact for anything needed during the experience & she gave me a cell number to be able to text in addition to a phone number for phone calls and an email address. Most importantly (and also incredibly incorrectly, based on national moving guidelines, I later learned), she estimated a 10-14 calendar day timeline for our truck to arrive. (We actually looked at the calendar together on the phone.) We were told to "pack as though going on vacation" -- although out stuff ended up arriving after 21 business days (which is the national window for our move distance). After signing paperwork, small but important things started to go wrong - a Freedom Express employee missed out phone appointment to do inventory (though I was able to reach out and get in touch later in the day); I'd been given incorrect information about packing directions for certain items; I was given incorrect information about the size of truck being used for delivery after expressing concern about an 18-wheeler fitting down our new street; I was given incorrect information about payment method available for the company that would pick up our material; I explicitly asked not to use the credit card on file for the 2nd charge (and provided new information), but the 1st credit card was charged, I later noticed. I was told I'd be contacted within a certain time frame for our pickup/truck packing and was not. Several efforts to reach out to Freedom Express were unsuccessful, leaving us in a limbo and uncertain if a truck would just show up with no notice (or if it had all been a scam). Ultimately, we later found out that the timeline for our cross-county move was actually up to 21 *business* days, a huge variation from the 10-14 calendar days we'd been quoted - this was after the truck had been loaded, and we had no recourse. As we tried to follow up with Freedom Express during this time, I had difficulty reaching anyone including (our "moving coordinator"), the 24/7 help line, and other points of contact. On several occasions, assured me that she'd follow up, and then I would never hear back. At one point, I spoke with someone on the phone (who was described by other employees as "the owner" but who told me himself that his father was the owner), and he only directed me to another point of contact. During one phone call, I reached another employee, who expressed surprise I'd been reaching out to our moving coordinator, and told me that she herself was our moving coordinator. I asked (and she confirmed) if I could email her and if she'd respond with that information in writing, but I never heard back. During this time, Freedom Express was apparently unable or unwilling to follow up on our delivery timeline, despite that "support and guidance" being in the contract we'd signed with them. Throughout, communication was severely inconsistent and unpredictable, and filled with inaccurate information (that we later learned was readily available). I would actively warn people away from this company. All of this interaction is documented. After our material was delivered (long after we'd initially been told), I pursued a chargeback through my credit card (after reaching out to Freedom Express to request restitution as documented in the contract I'd signed with them). The incredible stress, difficulty, and emotional toll created by working with this company was not worth it in any way.
