No judgement zone creates an honesty that is needed when discussing finances. My coach is understanding but firm. I have made great strides in changing my fear of money and finances to a comfortable control and empowerment.

I think my official debt-free journey started May 2019. Before that the idea of saving money was some form of unattainable magic. But since then, I found a budgeting system that works for me and subscribed/followed a ton of financial gurus. And because of the self-taught dedication I put my debt in check and saw my net worth slowly go up. After almost a year, I felt like I plateaued. My head was finally over the water and I didn’t know what to do from here. I felt like it was time to enroll some support. I saw ads for The Financial Gym on social media and in a collaboration video with The Financial Diet a while back so I thought to give them a try. My first call, aka “the weigh-in”, was an intake interview. The person asked me where I was at financially (like getting on the scale at the gym) and where I wanted to go. They used this data to pair me with a personal financial trainer. I got Georgina. She’s super sweet and at the same time a financial powerhouse. I thought my budget setup was alright. Boom! Georgina showed me how to level it up. My client cut my hours due to the pandemic. She told me I qualified for unemployment even though I was still working. Boom! Got me back to my original income (for now). She convinced me to apply for zero-interest credit cards to transfer my consumer debt. Boom! Paying down my debt with no interest. Some of you may be thinking, “Mia, duh. That’s so basic.” Well probably, but watching a YouTube video or reading an article is different than having someone hear your story, give you personalized advice, and even walk your hand through the process. I was at that point where I was done sifting through all the information out there. So if you’re at that point too, then I recommend trying out The Financial Gym, because you don’t know what you don’t know. A guide can show you the way.

We really enjoyed our experience with the financial gym and our “trainer” Columbus! Unfortunately, we knew after going over our financial plan provided we had to cut more expenses and had to cancel our membership. We feel lucky to be able to at least take our plan with us so when our income gets back up we can confidently get back in track! I wish I had financial gym in my 20’s, I think I would have learned so many things earlier and been in a better position now.

My s/o and I love working with our trainer, Nick. He's very knowledgable but what stands out to me most is how supportive he is for helping us achieve our goals and the absence of judgment when we stumble along our journeys. FG has been a critical financial investment for us to get on the same page, learn how to combine some of our expenses and work towards shared goals. The gym's mission and values really resonate with me as well. Don't hesitate. Get that first call done!

The Financial Gym has completely flipped my whole outlook on finances. I used to believe I was "bad" at money. It always seemed that I couldn't save a dollar and I was spending more than I had. I knew something had to change. After signing up at the gym, I was matched with my trainer, Sara W. At first I was worried about being judged about my financial situation or being reprimanded when I didn't flow the plan. My experience has been the opposite. Sara is so gentle when it comes to touchy situations, and always has an open ear when I need to make a financial decision. Having someone to run stuff by, who is aware of my situation, and is an outside source, has stopped me from making some bad decisions and led me to making excellent ones. I am so thankful to have Sara in my corner. She celebrates wins as much as I do and she is always there if I need her. Beyond my trainer, the gym offers many educational resources, which I have taken full advantage of. Gaining extra knowledge on this journey has felt so empowering. Thank you so much, for all you do!
