Very Generic and Overpriced "Advice"
I feel bad leaving a negative review, because everyone I interacted with at the Financial Gym was super nice and very likeable, but I don't think this service is worth the price. The financial trainer only provided information that is easily available for free online (get a high yield savings account, use a robo advisor for investing, etc) or was very generic and not personalized to me at all. When I asked for specific advice on certain topics (how can I pay less for car insurance, which credit card will give me the best perks, which robo advisor should I use, etc), she would send me generic articles from Nerd Wallet...that I had already read. Literally like the first thing that came up on google when searching the topic I asked about. This happened multiple times. For the high price I would expect her to at least go through my particulars and provide a recommendation (or a few options if she wasn't comfortable giving just one course of action) for how I should proceed. I have no problem paying for coaches to help me with areas of my life I want to improve, but this coach didn't seem to want to put in any effort to educate or advise me. Perhaps my experience is not typical, but I felt compelled to leave this review to warn others that may be in my situation. It seems like this may be a good option for people who are looking for an accountability buddy for paying off debt or curbing spending, but maybe not for someone looking for expert/personalized financial advice. Again, I feel bad for the low rating when this seems to be run by good people, but I do feel like I wasted a good deal of money on this service.
