Drake Software is High Quality Reasonably Priced
I have used other tax softwares, and Drake has been a game-changer. First, it is reasonably priced! Instead of working to pay the software company, the software is priced so it is a tool. Secondly, the tax software accuracy and responsiveness to changes. Updates are seamless and integrated. Lastly, I hear from colleagues about the issues they are having, and I have smooth sailing during our busiest time of year. Customer service is excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to share this, Heidi. We’re glad to hear the pricing has made the software feel like a tool that supports your work, not something you’re working around. It’s also great to know the accuracy, seamless updates, and overall reliability have helped things run smoothly during the busiest time of year.

Old user, First time administrator
I have used the software for over ten years but then transitioned to my own practice this year. I can’t imagine doing something like this with unfamiliar software. Drakes integrations like portals, pay, and the tax book were extremely helpful and productive. Drake portals is almost like having your very own front office. It keeps communications organized and the ease of importing tax documents can’t be beat.

We’re glad to hear the integrations like the portal, payments, and tax book have been helpful in building your workflow. Having tools like the portal keep communication organized and make document collection easier can really feel like having that extra support in place.

We have used DrakeSoftware for 16…
We have used DrakeSoftware for 16 consecutive years. data entry, calculate and view mode is a simple process and search function for forms and the F1 key for assistance is highly useful. Printing of returns and checks is also very streamlined. I have considered other tax softare and have used Taxwise among other but even with a few minor glitches, Drake tend to respond to change requests.

I would not use any other program besides DRAKE
I would not use any other program. It is well put together. My favorite thing is that, if you make a mistake, the program either corrects it or tell you that you made a mistake and tells you where it is. My second favorite thing is that Drake has wonderful people answering the phone when you call for help and they ALWAYS know the answers.
Response from Drake SoftwareApr 22, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience, Jacqueline. We’re glad to hear how much you value the way the program helps catch and point out mistakes. That kind of guidance can make a big difference when you’re working through returns. It’s also great to know your interactions with support have been consistently helpful when you’ve needed them. That level of confidence can really support your day-to-day work.

I have used Drake Tax Software for 10…
I have used Drake Tax Software for 10 years. The software is very well designed to recognize and handle virtually every tax situation. Entry is easy and straightforward and entry data , once entered, is populated into every other related schedule. The best part of Drake is that their personnel can answer every question, no matter how unusual. The only wait times I have ever experienced are on 4/14 and 4/15 and then the wait time is less than 5 minutes

Inexperienced Support and Declining Software Quality Amid Rising Costs
Technical support lacked experience. Even seasoned tax preparers had to rely on Facebook groups to obtain competent software guidance. Drake’s in-house support was not adequately equipped to resolve technical issues, and access to knowledgeable backroom specialists was effectively nonexistent.
Response from Drake SoftwareApr 20, 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Greg. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with support and the software hasn’t met your expectations. We understand how important it is to have knowledgeable, reliable support when you’re working through complex tax scenarios. Needing to look outside of our team for answers and feeling like issues aren’t being fully resolved is understandably frustrating, especially for experienced preparers. We’d appreciate the chance to learn more about the specific challenges you’ve encountered and connect you with the right resources. Please reach out to our support team at (828) 524-8020 or email [email protected] so we can review your concerns and work toward a better experience. Thank you again for your feedback.

I have been a tax professional for over…40 years
I have been a tax professional for over 40 years. I have graduated from several software packages over the years. Finally I have found a software application that is at least 85% able to handle the hundreds of personal and business returns that I prepare. I wil stay with Drake software as long as I am engaged in the business of tax preparation and client support.
Response from Drake SoftwareApr 22, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience, Donald, and for your 40 years in the profession. We’re glad to hear the software has been able to support such a wide range of personal and business returns in your work. That level of coverage can make a real difference in managing a diverse client base, and we appreciate your continued trust in Drake.

I used Drake Software for 13 years now
I used Drake Software for 13 years now. I had heard that UltraTax was so much better. So i switched for the 2025 tax season. What a mistake! By mid-February, I paid fort he Drake subscription and went back. UltraTax almost destroyed my tax practice. Using another tax program made me realize how good I had it with Drake. They also have the best customer service hands down. When I call, they answer right away. I only had to wait a few minutes one time at the peak of tax season. They always resolve my issue. With UltraTax, I ALWAYS resolved my issue while I was talking to their customer service. Their customer service reps had no clue how to use UltraTax or how to resolve issues. They were totally useless. You can't go wrong with Drake. Outstanding tax program allowing me to process and submit tax returns efficiently and accurately. With the other program, I spent most of my time searching and Googling where to find the screen I needed to enter date rather than actually entering the data. You will never go wrong with Drake Software.
