I used them for my ERAs application edit and proofread. Excellent service, very trustable, deliver before the due time.

The editing was mainly good although I ran auto check on spelling and grammar and found a few remaining errors. Nothing major. The bigger disappointment was the comments were clearly from a bias and sometimes lack of knowledge-almost laughable. For example, the legal disclaimer section which was authored by a top law firm in Houston was criticized on points that the editor clearly had no understanding of legal intent. There were also sections where is was challenging the technology and the science behind it while there is no way he could have sufficient time or expertise to make those judgments. I’ve been the CEO of two public companies, and many startups, but he was making comments like I was someone new to the game. I feel the charge for comments was a waste of money.

Thank you, Robert, for expressing your concerns and sharing them with us. We have double-checked your project; it appears it did not go through our final spell check before being returned to you. Please accept our apologies for that. Regarding our comments, we always encourage our clients to follow up with us with any questions or concerns they have about our feedback. This can help clear up any misunderstanding or provide further insight into why we provided the feedback that we did. We find this often helps clients make better informed decisions about how best to implement our recommendations for their documents. It also helps us better understand our clients' needs and tailor our feedback accordingly. On the subject of legal disclaimers, we do not presume to be experts in the law and always encourage our clients to seek legal counsel regarding the potential legal consequences of changes we make to a document. That said, top law firms not only in Houston but also around the country seek our editing assistance often, and we used the same approach for editing your legal disclaimer that we use for them. On the topic of the technology and science involved, the subject of your document was water filtration. While we are not experts in water filtration per se, we have edited many documents on the topic, including business plans for competing products. From this experience, we have a solid understanding of the basics of the technologies and science involved. For example, in your document, there was reference to oxygen being added to drinking water to increase its oxygen content. The document described the oxygen in the drinking water as being in liquid form. In our feedback, we advised that this could not be correct. See more on liquid oxygen here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_oxygen

Have used their service 5 times now and been glad I did every time.

Process is rather arduous. Too many steps from upload, to payment, to downloading your reviewed document. Making it more seamless, and it will be nicer. And the representative on the phone was far from knowledgeable about the company, the process - not the least helpful and not a very good representative for the company on the phone. My initial call with her facilitated a negative impression which only continued to deterioriate during the multiple steps to get the document.

Thank you, Lauren Blackburn, for your feedback, but we're having a hard time making sense of how we can make our upload, payment and download process any simpler than it is. You upload your file for editing to our form, which automatically verifies your word count and displays your fee. Next, you enter your payment details and click submit. When your document is ready, you get an email with a link that downloads your document directly to your computer. Can you let us know which of these steps you would have us eliminate? As for your interaction with the phone representative, we apologize that that was a negative experience for you. We have passed your feedback on to her manager to review the call with her to help her identify ways she can improve.

Made my experience with my personal statement for my fellowship application painless and I am satisfied with the end product.

I requested a specific editor to edit my letters but they went to another. The quality of work doesn't coordinate with the fee.
Response from David Lombardino | DLA Editors — Editorial & ConsultingJul 8, 2019
Thank you, Mahran, for sharing your experiences. While our editor in chief, David Lombardino, does have the final say in which of us is assigned to a specific editor, and therefore who is responsible for making the final corrections and recommendations on his or her assigned document, we work on each document as a team, such that the corrections and recommendations we make are the result of a collective effort. Our focus in this effort is to achieve a final vision for the document, and in each review of each document we give every suggestion to achieve that vision.

Terry was very patient with the many changes I kept making and helped make it more precise and correct. I really appreciated her hard work and encouragement.
