My experience with your company was horrible. I went into the situation looking for constructive criticism to help me clean up my work. Instead I got rude comments and personal belief opinions on my story which had nothing to do with the actual grammar or content editing. Yes, there was normal editing present but the overall attitude was rude, for example stating "not sure if their on drugs here" in a scene about the main character who is a child. This is a middle grade novel and it is pretty clear that my story is for children who I have a great respect for. Other examples are stating that "the ocean is not a person" or saying, "if you say in this life it implies there are past and future lives and unless that is part of the story it should not be used". Clearly the editor was closed minded, very traditionally western and not afraid to make it seem as though that is the only way. That is fine in his personal life, but when working for others on their writing he needs to remain open minded, professional and keep unnecessary personal opinions about life, what is real, etc. to himself. Also in the future I would recommend that you actually set writers up with editors who specialize in whatever genre their writing is in. This was not an editor comfortable or passionate about children's books and that was very obvious in his work. I learned from my bad experience at your company to do better research on the editors I work with and will continue to share my experience with other writers to help them avoid similar situations. Thank you for your time.

Thank you, Leslie, for sharing your feedback. We have checked our records on your project and found that your manuscript was reviewed by an editor who was since dismissed from our company. We sincerely regret the experience you had and will be reaching out to you tomorrow to see what solution we can find for you.

Used DLA to edit my pharmacy school personal statement. Provided very good suggestions and advice. Really helped tighthen up the wording which allowed for additional information to be included. Also made the language pop! Highly recommend the service.

The quality of the editing was fine. Just a little too much on the academic side and my work deals with marketing. The big issue I have is both times when the project was done I never got notified. Days later I asked about it and then I discovered it had been done they just didn't tell me. I can understand that happening once but twice???

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, as it gives us a great opportunity to learn how to improve our services. In looking back at your project, we see that while you mentioned the purpose was for advertising, you did not want it to sound like it was for marketing purposes. Could that have been the problem? We edit marketing material for many clients and can certainly take a different approach with your documents. With regard to the notification, we apologize for any miscommunication. Our primary method of notifying clients their projects are completed is by email. We also have a My Account portal, where clients can log in at any time to check the statuses of their projects, download their edited documents, and sign up for text-message notifications. Our telephone operators are also available 24/7 to provide our clients the statuses of their projects, process payments and resend edited documents by email, in the event the first one was not received. Could one of these alternatives have helped? We would love the opportunity to welcome you back as a customer. If there is anything more we can do to help, please let us know.
