I was a customer with Discover for more than 17 years. My Discover IRA to AXOS Bank transition in September 2026 was the worst I have ever experienced. Discover failed to process the paperwork. So they moved me to AXOS without my permission. I contacted multiple Discover supervisors. Zero help. I closed all of my Discover accounts and my Discover credit card. I contacted OCC, FTC and CFPB.

Horrible company
Horrible company, will not allow me to withdraw funds with my debit card at at atm or allow me to increase my atm withdraw limit on an alternative debit card, I spoke with management and was promised a call back from a higher up and this never happened

Most annoying bank if you use zelle
Most annoying bank if you plan to use Zelle. It was great for over a year but for the last 6 months or so it makes me verify identity EVERY time I use Zelle. By verify I mean go through the time wasting hassle of photographing the front and then the back of my ID, then a selfie before I can send Zelle. Even if I send another Zelle an hour or so later I have to do it ALL AGAIN!!! SO frustrating that I’m switching everything over to another bank that I use where this doesn’t happen. When I call customer service, they tell me there’s nothing they can do about it, and they try to say it’s Zelle, but I use Zelle at a Wells Fargo account at a Chase account, and even a credit union, and it doesn’t happen at any of those banks. Only Discover.

I was hacked and had to wait days to get a new checking account number. If you use the app, it blocks your ability to monitor your own account. I do not understand that since the app is used from my phone. I have to call and ask how much is in my account. Also using my debit card. Is a major pain. was told my debit card was safe to use, but I have to call ahead of time to make purchases. When you’re waiting in line to check out , the wait time to get a customer service representative to unfreeze the account is inconvenient and realistically stupid. Do better Discover. By the way, I’m closing my account.

Pissed that they got acquired
Was a great bank when I started using them several years ago, then unfortunately they got acquired by capital one and now everything that made Discover great is gone. They used to offer free online privacy protection, but now they don't. They also are pausing a lot of their features while migrating the systems currently, so that's annoying. Just generally have gotten worse the last year or so. Really sad to see them go.

Horrible company
Horrible company. They close my account because they couldn't verify my information after I went through the headache of doing it through the Equifax IRS website they wanted me to do.
They don't ask me for more information they just close my account. I never ever had issues with any company or verifying my information before.
Horrible communication and don't recommend them. Only signed up for the new customer bonus. I can see why they have to give one out because their company is awful and unreliable.

Discover Bank used to be a decent bank
Discover Bank used to be a decent bank, but not anymore. The Capitol One merger was a huge business mistake! The customer service is now non existent, the employees are clueless, they are putting holds on a deposit of a local cashiers check for a customer who has done business with Discover Bank for many years unnecessarily that is under $5k and I have a secure pension direct deposited there monthly and have worked in government and commercial and investment banking most of my life, they are obviously putting these week long holds on peoples money just to misuse their power and to fraudulently create higher available balances to use to make loans, which tells me they are crooks and getting ready to go under! There are thousands of people complaining online about the same! Which is a good sign for all to move their accounts or buy a home safe to put their money in! All should also start filing complaints with the CFPB, FDIC, Federal Reserve, and OCC for every issue, but also open an account elsewhere and purchase a safe to move your money. They are running out of money to give away and the next thing will be banks stealing it from the people for themselves or to give away and using these holds to shore up money to pay their bills out if depositors funds , just as the government has been doing for years and getting away with it under the name of “fraudulent activity” which totals billions and never gets clawed back or accounted for, like the billions the State of IL IDES gave out of business taxes from the UI Fund under Pritzker! The banks have been scamming people for hundreds of years, now claiming a 60% fraud rate, that sounds more than suspicious to me!!!

Worst Bank to Transact Business
Although I rated this bank (after CapitalOne took them over), they really deserve a -0. Since they eliminated or sold their IRA business to Axos bank (who??), I have since moved my accounts to another bank. Am now as of this writing, sitting on my phone to speak with a rep. almost 35 minutes. They must be on a Friday hiatus! And good luck getting a response "within 24" hours ... that is total BS. Eliminated CapitalOne years ago and now am getting rid of Discover. Terrible business and customer service (what customer service????)
