Was a great bank when I started using them several years ago, then unfortunately they got acquired by capital one and now everything that made Discover great is gone. They used to offer free online privacy protection, but now they don't. They also are pausing a lot of their features while migrating the systems currently, so that's annoying. Just generally have gotten worse the last year or so. Really sad to see them go.

I recently attempted to open an account…
I recently attempted to open an account with Discover Bank, and while I was hopeful about the process, I faced some significant challenges that left me feeling frustrated.
Initially, the application process seemed straightforward. I filled out the online application and was directed to call in to complete the verification. During the call, I followed the instructions to provide my ID (both front and back) along with a selfie, and I did this three times. Each time, I received confirmation that everything was complete and was told, "Thank you, have a great day."
However, I was later informed that my verification had been rejected. This was confusing, as I had received confirmations indicating that my documentation was sufficient. Unfortunately, the customer service representative was unable to provide any specific reasons for the rejection, leaving me in the dark about what went wrong.
The lack of clarity and communication during the verification process was disappointing. It’s essential for banks to provide clear guidance, especially during something as critical as account verification.
While I appreciate that Discover Bank offers various financial products, my initial experience with account opening was not as smooth as I had hoped. I would recommend that they improve their verification process and customer communication to help avoid confusion for future applicants.
Overall, I had high hopes for banking with Discover, but this experience has left me reconsidering my options.
