Our room was exceptionally clean and Jade helped us tremendously with the issue we had with the smoke alarm. The negative is that the air conditioning doesn’t work. It was hot and stuffy in our room even at night. The heat and humidity was extreme in the area when we went but it literally felt like the mini split in our room didn’t work at all.

Greetings, we're always happy for your comments! The heat wave has been challenging; we are working to support the city’s request for conservation. Thank you for choosing us to host your stay on the Island!

Unimpressed
The place was decent on the inside. Small rooms and the A/C did not work well. It was difficult to sleep in the warm room. Also, the outside was unkempt - tall grass and not much landscaping.

Historically Modern | Minimal Space
On their website they say
"
A Beautiful Space To Dream
Historically Modern | Minimal Space
An intelligent rendition of 19th century elegance infused with modern comfort. Domum offers thoughtful beauty in minimum / lightly furnished space for guests seeking a spot of luxury with their morning coffee. Guest rooms are complemented with ten-foot ceilings that accent this home's historic origin. Original wood floors that, although revived, reflect a charm earned through decades of experience. En suite personal bathing rooms are reminiscent of the Mediterranean, both fresh and tranquil. Your room is coated with juxtaposed color that's both subtle and bold; a rich expression that is sure to delight.
"
The key phrase is "minimum/lightly furnished space"
This is an historic property turned hotel, but really more like a B&B but there is no breakfast. I really liked the 19th century feel of the property. The location is quiet and perfect for the strand area of Galveston.
Inside the property it is quite modern. Before I give you the negative side of things, I would stay here again. My intention is not for you to not consider the property, but to better understand what you are getting.
I stayed in a single room with a queen bed. I knew the space would be small but didn't really care at the time because I was just planning to sleep. There was a bed, desk, chair, and a coat rack (plus the bathroom of course).
There was no closet, no shelf, no place to put you suitcase, no mini-fridge, no ice on the property, and no vending machine. So if you wanted a cold drink, you would have to head out to a store. I didn't realize how important it was for me to have ice or access to a cool drink if for no other reason than to take my medicine. It was very inconvenient to have to place the suitcase on the floor.
The description they provide is very accurate. The pictures of the rooms are accurate.
There is no front desk. You are emailed a code that gives you access to the front door and your room door. If you are technology impaired you might find this difficult. I personally had some difficlty because it is not very clear that you have entered the code correctly.
The place is not ADA compliant and probably is exempted due to it's historic nature. I only say that because if you use a wheel chair or walker I would not recommend this property as there in no sidewalk, an uneven cobblestone walkway from the fence to the house, and steps to the front porch. And more stairs if you are on the second floor. In my single room I don't think you would be able to turn a wheelchair around in the room and a walker would take up sprecious space.
There is no onsite parking. It is street parking and there is a sign on the street that says 2hr parking 8:00am-5:00pm with exemption for resident pass. Fortunately when I entered the room there was a parking plackard for the car.
If you have children the small room is not for you. If you are a couple, the small room will be a bit cramped. I don't know about the other rooms.
Even with that, overall it was a pleasant stay

Nice but simple
It’s a nice place if you’re a lone traveler or low maintenance. The only issues I had were a clomplete lack of trash cans on the entire premises, they only give a small bathroom trash. There is also no real place to set stuff in the bathroom. It’s a good clean place with no staff to disturb your stay! Highly recommend if you’re low maintenance. Not ideal for me though
