Nightmare... took nearly a month to get my glasses then had to go to the post office to pick them up because nobody was home when they tried to deliver.
Response from DesignerOptics.comOct 19, 2026
Mark, I'm sorry your experience was so frustrating. Prescription orders typically take about 10 business days, and with the holiday closures in between, your order shipped on October 1st — which I know still felt like a long wait from your September 15th order date. The carrier required a signature, which meant the trip to the post office when no one was home.
I'd like to make this right. Please reach out to our team at [email protected] or 718-412-0407 so we can review what happened and see how we can help.

Bowling Ball Head Shaped Glasses
First off when I ordered them they were delayed so after bout 2 weeks I reached out. I was told they are on back order and it was going to be about 3 weeks till they came in and then they would have them filled. Ok whatever shit happens. 2.5-3 weeks later I get email saying there in yada yada. Another 10 days go by n they come in. Finally try em on and my head ain’t shaped like a bowling ball so these things won’t fit me. So just contacted Designer Optics again n waiting to hear back on what they are going to do. I’d include pics but it won’t let me

Hi Jay,
I'm genuinely sorry the experience with this order has been so frustrating — delays waiting on stock, then the fit issue when they finally arrived. That's a lot of patience on your part, and I understand the disappointment.
We want to make this right. Our team will reach out directly to your open ticket to go over your options — whether that's an exchange for a different frame style or working through a return.
Thank you for giving us the chance to fix this. We'll be in touch soon.

Bad work and lies
My fiancée ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses from DesignerOptics.com. What she received was a pair of glasses that looked like the bottom of soda bottles. The edges of the lenses were ground by someone who knew nothing of what they were doing, creating bright white rings around the edges of the lenses.
When we presented this problem to DesignerOptics.com, they blamed it on my fiancée's "pupil distance" and said they were "not responsible for esthetics".
My fiancée has been wearing glasses for most of her 50+ years of life, and also worked in the optical field. I too have worn glasses for most of my 60+ years of life, and have never seen such poorly-made eyeglasses.
We were unable to get a resolution with DesignerOptics.com, so we sent the frames she got from them to another company to have prescription sunglass lenses made, and they came back beautifully done... Proof positive that the problem was not the "pupil distance", but the lab at DesignerOptics.com.
(We have photos and email strings to prove all these statements).
So, if you want to pay for poorly made lenses, and then get gaslighted by the company that made the error, and lose hundreds of dollars along the way, then use DesignerOptics.com.
But if you want your glasses done right, the first time, choose someone else.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for the detailed feedback, and we're genuinely sorry your experience with us didn't reflect the standard we aim for. We understand how frustrating this has been, especially given your professional background in the optical field, and we don't take that lightly.
We'd like the opportunity to revisit this with you directly, outside of the back-and-forth that's already happened. A member of our team will be reaching out to discuss the order and find a fair resolution.
We appreciate you giving us the chance to make this right.

Deeply regret ordering from Designer…
Deeply regret ordering from Designer Optics — buyer beware
I deeply regret purchasing prescription glasses from Designer Optics and would strongly caution others before ordering from this company.
Designer Optics does not offer a virtual try-on, so when ordering online, I had to rely on the frame measurements provided on their website. I did exactly that. When my glasses arrived, they were far too large for me and did not fit as I expected based on those measurements. I cannot wear them.
I contacted Designer Optics hoping to simply EXCHANGE the frames for a pair that actually fit. They refused because the glasses contained prescription lenses.
I am now stuck with approximately $400 prescription glasses that I cannot wear.
I understand that prescription lenses are custom, but that is part of doing business as an online prescription eyewear retailer. If you sell glasses online without providing customers a virtual try-on option, there should be a reasonable solution when the frames don't fit. Other optical retailers offer much more customer-friendly guarantees and exchange policies for prescription eyewear.
What disappointed me most was the complete lack of interest in finding a reasonable solution. Their policy places essentially all of the risk on the customer. Once the prescription lenses are made, you can be left paying hundreds of dollars for glasses that don't fit and are unusable.
Had I understood how little protection I would have if the frames didn't fit, I NEVER would have ordered from Designer Optics.
Buyer beware: If you're considering purchasing prescription glasses here, understand that if the frames don't fit when they arrive, you may be stuck with an expensive pair of glasses you cannot wear.
I wish I had taken my $400 elsewhere. I will never purchase from Designer Optics again and cannot recommend them.

Hi Cassie,
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm truly sorry the frames didn't fit as you'd hoped based on the measurements.
I understand how disappointing it is to invest in prescription glasses that don't work for you. You're right that fit is critical, and when someone orders online without being able to try frames on in person, that uncertainty is real.
Our prescription lens policy does limit exchanges once lenses are made, because each pair is custom cut to the exact prescription entered at checkout.
That said, I'd like to see if there's anything we can do to help make this right. Please reach out directly to [email protected] or call us at 718-412-0407 so we can review your order and explore what options might be available.
We appreciate you giving us the chance to address this. Designer Optics Customer Care

Poor quality glasses due to Unhelpful ordering process
Received my Designer Optics order of two pairs of prescription glasses in an unusable state, with poor lenses, and on enquiry with Designer Optics, was advised this was because I had not ordered anti-reflective coating. Designer Optics said to remedy this they'd need to re-do the lenses, but I'd have to pay for the new lenses(original cost for lenses only was about $500)!Had Designer Optics's ordering process warned or prompted me that glasses are unusable without anti-reflective coating, I'd have ordered it. This is such an unhelpful and uncaring ordering process where Designer Optics made money while I'm dissatisfied as hell! I will never ever buy glasses again from them.
Response from DesignerOptics.comAug 24, 2026
Hi Vince,
We're genuinely sorry your lenses didn't work for you. Anti-reflective coating is optional, and while many customers do order prescription lenses without it, we understand it wasn't the right choice for your needs — and we regret that wasn't clear during checkout.
Our policy is that prescription lenses are custom-made to the exact specifications you select at the time of order, so we're not able to redo them at no charge. However, we'd like to review your specific situation and see what we can do to help make this right.
Please reach out directly to [email protected] or call us at 718-412-0407 so we can discuss your order in detail and work toward a resolution.

Atentamente,
El equipo de Designer Optics

Dear customer,
We're very sorry for the experience you've described. We manufactured your prescription lenses to your exact specifications and shipped your order twice, covering the shipping cost both times, but unfortunately the package was held and returned by customs on both attempts, despite completing all documentation FedEx requested.
Once the product was returned to us, we applied our standard policy for prescription orders. That said, given the exceptional circumstances here, we recognize the initial refund wasn't enough.
We'd like to take another look at your case and offer an additional refund as a gesture of goodwill. Please email us at [email protected] with your order number so we can resolve this directly.
Sincerely,
The Designer Optics Team

No returns or exchanges
I ordered some prescription glasses from this company and they were too small. I called to send them back for an exchange in size. All they did was tell me I couldn’t return them and then they tried to sell me a second pair of expensive glasses. A lot can go wrong with prescription glasses. Stick to the big companies that allow you to return or exchange.
Response from DesignerOptics.comAug 3, 2026
Hi Sarah, thank you for the feedback. To clarify: prescription lenses are ground and edged to fit the exact shape and size of one specific frame, so they can't be moved into a different-size frame — choosing a new frame means new lenses have to be made from scratch, which is a real cost, not an upsell. We offered a discounted price on that new pair, and a refund on the frame was also available if you preferred not to reorder.
We'd like to revisit this with you directly — please reach out at 718-412-0407 with your order number.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. They sent the wrong sunglasses and refused to pay for return shipping. Stay away
Response from DesignerOptics.comJul 28, 2026
After reviewing your order, we found that the sunglasses you received matched the model that was ordered. Your return was processed as a standard customer-choice return rather than due to an incorrect item. As outlined in our return policy, the cost of the prepaid return label is deducted when our label is used. As a courtesy, however, we waived the $9.95 return label fee and refunded it back to you.
We strive to provide accurate products and fair resolutions, and we appreciate your feedback. If there are any remaining concerns, please contact us at [email protected] or 718-412-0407
