Worst customer service I've ever had to…
Worst customer service I've ever had to deal with, Rude people, Extremely rude people. No matter what you said to these people you're never going to be right. Get used to it. Before you purchase look at what the return policy. You could wind up spending as much as your original purchase on their penalties and fees for the return/exchange. I eventually did receive my frames without having to pay any penalties, but not without having to deal with such rude people, and a month before I receive my exchanged glasses. I would never recommend this company to purchase from. Lesson learned always read the return/exchange policy.

Extremely Slow Response – Still No Update After Ordering on July 15
I placed order #801998 with Designer Optics on July 15, and it’s now been over half a month with no shipping update or status change. I’ve reached out to customer service asking about the order status, no response. So i want to cancel the order, but I’ve only received an automated response saying they’ll reply “within one business day.” It’s been longer than that, and I still haven’t received any follow-up.
At this point, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency and communication. If my order has not shipped, I expect a full cancellation and refund immediately. Otherwise, I will be filing a dispute with my payment provider.
I chose this website based on the product availability, but now I see other reviews that mirror my experience. I hope the company can respond quickly and improve its order fulfillment process.
Will revise this review if/when the issue is resolved.

Hi Yvonne,
Thanks for sharing your concern, and I’m sorry for the long wait. Your order #801998 is a custom single-vision job in Trivex® lens material with Transitions® brown tint and Crizal® Prevencia AR coating. Each layer—surfacing, tint, AR—adds production steps, so these lenses take a bit longer than the usual 5-7 business-day window we quote.
We did send status updates by e-mail on July 23, 27 and 31; the lenses are now through the final AR stage and will ship Monday via complimentary next-day service. You can expect delivery by Tuesday, and we’ll e-mail tracking the moment the package leaves the lab.
We appreciate your patience and are committed to clearer communication moving forward. If there’s anything else we can do, please let us know at [email protected]

Read the reviews, don't be like me
Stop and check out the Google Street View of this lab. Wish I had paid attention to the reviews. I uploaded my prescription and placed an order on June 30 with overnight shipping. The glasses arrived on July 21. The lenses didn’t match my prescription. When I contacted support, they claimed I never uploaded a prescription—but still made and shipped prescription glasses anyway. That’s either a lie or a violation of federal law, you can't fill a prescription without a prescription. Their fix? A 15% discount to remake them. Even if they offered to replace them for free, I wouldn’t trust these folks again.
Response from DesignerOptics.comAug 4, 2025
Hi Harry,
We’re sorry the lenses didn’t work for you. When the order was placed on June 30, the prescription values were typed in manually with positive (+) cylinder powers; no photo of the doctor’s prescription was uploaded at that time. Positive-cylinder scripts are valid, so our lab produced the lenses exactly as entered. The doctor’s note with the negative (–) cylinder values arrived only after the glasses were delivered on July 21, which is why the finished lenses don’t match your current Rx.
These were progressive lenses with multiple add-ons (high-index material, Transitions®, Crizal® AR), so manufacturing required extra processing days
Although the error wasn’t on our end, we’ve already offered to remake the lenses with the correct numbers at a 30 % courtesy discount so you can enjoy the frames you chose. Just let us know and we’ll start the remake right away.
Thank you for giving us the chance to clarify—precision matters to us, and we’re here to make sure you see clearly.

Designer Optics & My 60-day Journey
I initiated a transaction with Designer Optics, paying the full price when I placed my order, only to endure a nearly 60-day wait before finally receiving my glasses. Naturally, I remitted the complete amount at the time of order placement, and subsequently, I bided my time for the arrival of my glasses. The customer service was utterly ineffectual, consistently providing disingenuous information regarding the anticipated shipment date of my eyewear. Despite opting for express shipping, I experienced an additional six-day delay before my glasses were delivered. This experience represents the most abysmal service I have encountered from any online retailer throughout my lifetime. I shall categorically refrain from patronizing this online establishment in the future!
Response from DesignerOptics.comAug 4, 2025
Hi Harold,
I’m sorry your glasses took so long. Your order (high-index 1.67 progressives with Transitions® Xtractive, Crizal® Sapphire AR & mirror anti-fog kit) is one of the most complex lens builds we offer. The lab had to remake the lenses when a defect appeared in edging, adding a second full production cycle.
Because of that delay we refunded your express-shipping fee and still sent the finished pair overnight at no charge
We never want a customer to feel misled. If there’s anything more we can do to make this right, please call 718-412-0407 or e-mail [email protected]—ask for me directly and I’ll help.

I would strongly caution others to think twice before ordering from this company
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Designer Optics (designeroptics dot com). I ordered specific glasses, but they sent me a completely different item — not even close to what I ordered. Instead of taking responsibility for their obvious mistake, they demanded that I pay return shipping plus a $5 “handling” fee to “check authenticity,” which is absurd since they shipped it to me in the first place.
They refused to issue a full refund without deducting these fees, despite this being 100% their error. I’m also left questioning whether the glasses they sent were even authentic. Their customer service showed zero accountability or concern for fair consumer treatment.
I’ve filed formal complaints with the BBB, FTC, and NY Attorney General. I would strongly caution others to think twice before ordering from this company.
Response from DesignerOptics.comAug 4, 2025
Hi Lilya,
We’re very sorry we sent the wrong frame on your order. While it happens to fewer than 1 % of our shipments, we understand that one mistake is one too many.
Whenever we ship an incorrect item we:
email a free, pre-paid return label (no “handling” fees of any kind)
issue a full refund or send the correct product—whichever the customer prefers
Your return label was sent on 17 July, the package scanned back on 23 July, and the payment has already been reversed. We’re tightening our pick/pack checks so this doesn’t recur. If there’s anything else we can do, please reach us at [email protected] or 718-412-0407—we want you to feel confident shopping with us again.

This website/company is 100% a scam and…
This website/company is 100% a scam and I would avoid any purchases at all cost. I wish I did my research, and read all there is online about them. You should believe all the negative stories they are so true I ordered two pair of glasses that shipped really fast and got “delivered” very fast as well. The problem is that fedex which is the THEIR OWN shipping company they use delivered the glasses to a totally different townhouse. The delivery photo was not of my door mat and I provided the costumer service 4 photos showing I have a different Matt and front door. The delivery photo dosent show my apt #, my door mat my ring door bell, or my decor hanger, I even have security footage showing no one from fed ex was at my door and still designer optics customer service responded to me 3 times “it’s been delivered” . The craziest part is they add a “shipping protection” for $7 (they make this very sneaky there is an option to remove it but you have to know to do this) and they they just “deny” the claim after you pay EXTRA for protection for a situation like this . I am $320 dollars out for a present and I expressed many times to them I really wanted this resolved before the 9th so I can either have the glasses or afford something else and now 3 days before I have neither and I have to cancel my card with my bank report this as fraud. Such a mess and headache I had to file a police report, and have walked around looking for the package and it’s just very stressful not to mention I keep calling/emailing/following up for nothing! I had high hopes for this company but they are dishonest unprofessional and bad business

Designer Optics has been a trusted name in eyewear for the past 18 years, proudly serving close to two million happy customers nationwide. It is simply inaccurate — and frankly implausible — to suggest that we own or control FedEx. FedEx is an independent courier that we, like many reputable businesses, rely on to deliver orders.
Your package was shipped promptly and, according to FedEx’s official tracking and delivery record, was delivered to the address provided. While we understand your frustration, we do take issue with the level of accusation and unwarranted alarm surrounding this matter. In rare instances, a courier can make a mistake, and the proper protocol is to investigate the delivery and file a claim if needed.
We stand by our reputation as one of the largest and most reliable designer eyewear retailers and will continue to let our long record of authentic products and excellent service speak for itself.

Placed an order on 5/8/25
Placed an order on 5/8/25. 3 pairs of designer sunglasses. Only 2 of 3 shipped out. Called 2 weeks later to learn they had none in stock and had to request a shipment from manufacturer. Not stated on website at time of order or notified after the fact via email. Was given 2 week timeframe. Called back again, said they’d “look through inventory to send” since they were closed for a week for a Jewish holiday. Been another two weeks, still no shipment, called back today to learn manufacturer is on backorder. You don’t find out anything from these people unless you call them. No email updates. They’ll just collect your money and leave the rest up to no one. Asked what could be done for the inconvenience they said they don’t offer anything but I was “welcome to use the current promo code on the website”. Spent 1k on sunglasses with them. Should have asked for a refund 6 weeks ago. Will never give them my business ever again, unless you want to make following up with the company as the CUSTOMER a part-time job, I recommend you don’t either!
