You prepay for the consultation and other could be with anyone besides a doctor. They don't tell you the assigned time is THEIR time not yours. If you missed your call, you have to wait AGAIN when you've already paid for the next available appointment which is 3-4 weeks away. They don't care if you've already invested alot and you're having symptoms that impact your daily life. They won't accommodate you

Hi, Bianca! Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and we apologize for any inconvenience. When a patient misses a consultation, our staff strives to reschedule them at the earliest possible date. While we are always working to reduce wait times, our providers currently have full schedules through the next four weeks. That’s why we encourage every patient to review their appointment information and ensure they are available at their scheduled time. If you have any further questions or require additional assistance, feel free to email [email protected].

Not happy
I felt they didnt give me the necesary attention, nor time to understand what my issues are.
First interview was short and dissapponting. Would not reccomend this place.
I felt like a client, not a patient!

WRONG MEDICATION AGAIN?
Defy has for a second time sent THE WRONG MEDICATION to me. How is that possible when it's CLEARLY marked in my file, the exact medication I receive?
The issue that upsets me is that I'm being dicked around and lied to while they figure out what they are going to do. Not ONE thing I was told has happened to remedy the situation as promised.
I was told this would be resolved by EOW and well they have 2 days. Not going to happen is it?
You messed up Defy Medical and this is the typical smoke and mirrors from you.
There has to be someone outside of you to call???

A member of our management team will be in touch regarding resolution to the issue. Once again, we apologize, and we will be in touch soon.

Updated -unfortunately not for the better;-(
I had posted a positive review based on my physician experience but needed to update based on overall service.
I tried this company vs. a local specialist for ease and it has proven to be quite the opposite
- it took nearly 2 months just to speak with a physician
- I was assured if I kept that apt. it would go quickly from there and Id have product shipped in a ew days.
-It took another 3 weeks and many (many!) emails to make this happen.
-they order additional tests that other HRT specialists do not require and cost hundreds of extra dollars.
-they order 3 months supplies (now I know why!) so if the scripts don't work for you or the service so poor you leave: you are in over $600 dollars in meds and almost $300 in consults fees.
- My fear to stay with them is Ill never get refills and be fighting for my sanity and messing with hormone consistency is dangerous.
Defy's concept is good- but they need to drop back and punt and not take new patients until they can properly service those they have.

great doctor, but the clinic is shady

Great doctor but the clinic is shady
Mike seems to know what he’s doing, consult was stellar experience, no complaints there. I wish Mike had his own practice or something! Unfortunately, that’s the only good thing I have to say about Defy.
The clinic itself is usually quick to reply up until the point you give them your card number to charge for scheduling an appointment. After that, replies seem to take longer.
The practice also engages in what I can only call pushy and deceptive behavior.
Instead of providing more information by email after you express your interest using their website, they will call you and try to get your card, feels very focused on making a transaction rather than ensuring you have all the necessary information and make an informed decision on your time.
When it comes to labs, they will push you towards the option where you pay them for the labs and forego insurance altogether, they make a point of highlighting numerous times that they don’t work with insurance — which is, like, fine, but it’s the lab that bills insurance, not them. When you insist on doing labs so that the lab bills your insurance, they try to scare you by saying that insurance often does not pay for labs ordered by “out of network, out of state doctors” — which is often not true. They also ask you to sign a scary looking document acknowledging that by not paying to them for the labs directly, you are risking insurance denying that lab work claim and that you accept that risk. Most insurances do cover bloodwork no matter who the ordering physician is, as long as the lab itself is in network; just like they do with prescriptions.
But that’s not all. The staff seems to have no idea what a superbill is — it’s such a common term in healthcare and yet, Defy staff either does not know its meaning at all or thinks a superbill = payment invoice. Before I paid to schedule my first appointment, the rep said they provide superbills and never mentioned there being a charge for it. Later, over email, a different rep said they provide a superbill at no charge but doing charge for a CMS-1500 form. But then they just send you a regular invoice and call it a superbill. That’s not how it works! When I pointed out that it’s missing the information that is customarily displayed on superbills — such as practitioner information, service date, CPT codes, and diagnosis codes — they say that they only provide that information via CMS-1500, for which they charge $19 since it’s an “insurance claim form”. Honestly, this is shocking because this is my first time dealing with a practice that is this mix of incompetent and shady, I’ve never been charged for a superbill before — some practices do charge you for submitting out-of-network claims TO your insurance, which requires some admin work to complete insurance-specific forms, but Defy doesn’t do that. A superbill is not an insurance form, it’s just an expanded form of a medical receipt — it does have the information that the patient can use in order to submit a claim to their insurance, a HSA account, or another reimbursement scheme — and it’s outrageous to hold this information hostage and demand payment.
After I pointed all of this out to the Defy rep over email, the same one that promised they provide superbills at no charge — she just never replied to the email.
It’s their right to not accept insurance and charge however much they want for their actual services — many practices out there choose to not accept any insurance. Yet, Defy seems hellbent on going out of their way to prevent you from benefiting in any way from your insurance in a way that I haven’t seen any other practice do.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this…
I am extremely dissatisfied with this company. They charge to complete forms for insurance and for shipping medication. Because they are out of state, you have to have prescriptions filled by them and there prices are double what I have paid at my local pharmacy! My initial consult was 20 minutes and the charge was $275!
Response from Defy MedicalDec 28, 2023
Hi Tricia. We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. Defy Medical does not take any form of insurance. We do however provide Claim Assistance to our patients who would like to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement by completing a CMS-1500 form. Due to the administrative work that goes into this, we do charge a $19 fee.
I will have a member of our team reach out to see if there is anything we may do to improve your experience with us. We value all feedback. Thank you and we will be in touch soon.

Zero Concern For Your Experience After Taking Your Money
I signed up with Defy at the end of August. The intake was smooth, the sales rep was great, their reviews were good. Everything seemed fine.
I did one round of blood work and the sales rep sent me the results as soon as they were in. I did a second round of lab work and the Intake Coordinator told me he wouldn't give me the results until I returned the consent forms. My own blood work - especially blood work that I paid for - should not be kept from me for any reason.
When it came time to ship the meds, there was a week delay because they can't ship to my address. Why didn't they tell me this up front? Finally they call me to tell me and ask for a different address. I give it to the rep and explicitly tell her multiple times to NOT include my name on the shipment, but instead the name of the person I'm sending it to. They still ship it with my name on it....
The last straw is me emailing them Nov 26 asking how I can replace my lost vial. No response so I follow up Nov 28. Still no response so I follow up Dec 1. Finally they respond Dec 5, 10 days later, asking what medication I want to order when they easily could have just read the email thread. I tell them, and they respond explaining how I recently ordered and with my dosing that should last 14 weeks. Wow. Completely ignoring the entire thread.
For Defy to be one of the more expensive options and deliver this experience, I would highly recommend trying one of their competitors.

Prescribed medication dose that was not available…. Consult now complete waste. Had we known that this dose was not available… other avenues would have been explored. After the fact, could not be bothered for a solution
