She doesn’t understand much about testosterone or other anabolics. Not a good fit for me. I need to have a follow up with Ben.

APRN Ben Walker is a danger to anyone seeking hormone therapy
April 2025:
After four months on Defy’s protocol, I experienced only negative side effects: bloating, irritability, low energy, severe acne, testicular atrophy, and a tanked libido. My workouts actually became worse while on TRT. I contacted Defy and was told I’d need to pay $125 to speak with APRN Ben Walker again, even though it was his protocol that caused the issues.
During my first consultation call with him on Dec 31, 2024, I said that I wanted to be on a conservative protocol out of concern for health issues. This was the protocol he put me on:
Cypionate: 0.40mL 2x/week
HCG: 0.5mL (500 IU) 2x/week
Anastrozole: 0.125mg 2x/week
As mentioned, I experienced only negative side effects. After trying to ride it out for months, I contacted Defy. They said I would have to book another consult with APRN Ben Walker for $125.
When I asked questions during the call, he sighed and responded with an annoyed tone. This was the same tone I suffered during our initial call. After the third time, I told him directly that I didn’t appreciate it. He didn't offer an apology even as a general courtesy for having unintentionally offended a paying customer. Instead he said "hey, I'm telling you what your options are" and blamed my “sensitive system” for the negative experience I was having because according to him, “this protocol works for most guys.”
I am quoting here because I recorded the call to ensure I didn't miss anything, which I still have and am happy to share in the event he disputes anything I am saying here.
He then launched into an unsolicited tangent about his own daily injections, his fluctuating testicular size, his wife’s protocol, and a bunch of other information irrelevant to my needs. I thought the $125 fee was so he would address my concerns, not fill the time with immaterial details about his own life.
Eventually, he changed my protocol from:
Cypionate: 0.40mL 2x/week
HCG: 0.5mL (500 IU) 2x/week
Anastrozole: 0.125mg 2x/week
to:
Cypionate: 0.25mL 3x/week
HCG: 0.35mL (350 IU) 3x/week
Anastrozole: 0.25mg 3x/week
He said to inject Mon/Wed/Fri, but didn’t explain what time of day to inject nor when to take the Anastrozole. After scoffing at my aversion to needles, he told me to combine the Cypionate and HCG into one syringe to “make it easier.” I’m just a regular guy who learned as a child that oil and water don’t mix, but I deferred to the so-called expert. The result was bruising and soreness at the injection site.
After our call, I stopped following APRN Ben Walker’s full-assed protocol. I then did my own research and decided on my own protocol that has been working wonders.
I sent a version of this review directly to Defy and was unsurprisingly met with a cookie-cutter apology that thanked me for letting them know.
APRN Ben Walker is a danger to anyone seeking hormone therapy. I would not trust him to fill my glass with tap water.
Defy’s slogan is “Defy Expectations.” They certainly did. I expected something to improve after spending over $700 in four months. Instead, the experience was so bad I considered quitting TRT altogether.
But I will not let substandard customer service and a clown in a lab coat derail my goals.

I never received the scheduled phone…
I never received the scheduled phone call. An hour and a half later someone from scheduling called to reschedule and left a message as I’d moved on work my day. I called back and kept getting a recording that all reps were busy and to leave a message. The day w fed without a call back. Quite disappointed in the whole follow-up experience thus far, especially since you are compelled to pay beforehand and then no one calls.

his is purely money grab :(
his is purely money grab :(. Paid $500 to start, but had issues at work and wasn’t able to make tests and the consultation within 2 months. Sent them an email and received reply that I have to pay another $300 . In other words: got nothing for my $500 :(. I will not pay additional $300 and will find another and friendlier company.

I had 2 previous visits with another…
I had 2 previous visits with another doctor but the scheduler told me I could followup with anyone in the practice and offered me an appt with Melissa since it was the first available. I was excited to have an appt with a female provider hoping that she would be more understanding of the frustration I was having with continued low libido. After introducing herself, she asked if I wanted to reschedule and followup with my previous provider. I told her no and explained that I was curious to hear what options she had to offer. She continued to tell me she would have my appt rescheduled. I again told her I was not interested in that as it had already been 7 months since my last appt and didn't want to wait a few more weeks to get another appt. She told me I sounded frustrated and that I really should just reschedule. I continued to refuse the rescheduling of the appt (although in hindsight I should have rescheduled because she contradicted everything she said regarding my labs and symptoms). She was dismissive, belittling and made me more upset than she was helpful. She clearly did not want to be doing the appt. If you want a caring, positive experience with Defy do not schedule your appt with Melissa.
