Rodent control is a joke.
Brought my Christmas tree home 3 days ago. Put it in basement.
2 days ago started finding empty peanut shells on basement steps next to where we store peanuts for birds.
Honest billing also a joke.
Started using this facility 3 years ago.
Price was S240 a month.
Now $528 a month.
Emails and calls about pricing ignored.
Quick to add $60 to bill when 1-3 days late.
Cleaning out space now.
Never going back.
Wish I could give zero stars

Rented at the Elkton
Rented at the Elkton, MD Rt. 40 location - Floor 10x20. Rate was hiked over $100 in the course of a year. The main gate was out of commission for several visits. The main doors in and out of the building were stuck open/broken for over 4 months. When I called customer service, I was told rate was hiking because of demand, and that I needed to address the manager with complaints. No one tried in any way to help come up with a fair resolution.
This is for Cube Smart at 1455 hwy 287, Mansfield, TX. Similar complaint as most..advertise a low rate and then within 3 months increased my rate 41%. But this is pretty typical for most self storage places.
The biggest issue with this location are the RATS…I found only two bait stations in the entire facility, and highly doubt they were maintained. I informed the manager about the issue, but she showed no interest in my concern. . I stored a vehicle in my unit so there was nothing in there that would attract rodents…they just ran between the units.
I had to set my own traps inside my unit and trapped two within a couple of weeks…I moved to another business...not a Cube Smart.

Beware
Beware: Measure your unit before you move in! I rented a unit here for 3 years under the impression it was a 10x20, only to discover upon moving out that it was actually 10x18.5. When I brought this up to management, they brushed it off by pointing to the "approximate size" clause in the rental agreement. This is a Common tactic storage facilities use to overcharge you for less space. If you rent here, Protect yourself: Measure the unit before signing, And know that you have the right to ask for a different unit or break your contract for a refund if the measurements don't match. I have since moved to a transparent facility that doesn't shortchange it's customers.

# 4619 Cubesmart: one of the most unpleasant and mismanaged enterprises I've ever dealt with
One of the most uneasy and unpleasant companies to deal with. Online payments do not work and CubeSmart always blames me and my bank that doesn't make errors and with whom I am in constant contact. I am threatened in every kind of way from being refused access to my locker, to clipping the lock. I have always paid in full, plus egregious $50 fines for late payment for their non collection of funds. I'll now pay by check until I find another company. I thought they had sorted out the ACH but no. Once again they blame my bank when there were always sufficient funds and the bank did NOT block payment.

30% rate increase after only 3 months
I have been a customer for several years at the Seattle location. I was able to downsize a little and instead of two 5x5x8 units, I was able to change to one 5x10x8 unit. They would not give me the introductory price since I was already a customer. I didn’t argue that at all. In June, 2026 the lease on my new unit began. The cost was $91.00/month. After only 3 months, my September rent for the same unit increased to $117.00/month, an almost 30% increase just 3 months after my lease began. To reiterate, I was paying full price at $91.00, not some 3-month introductory price or something like that.
After emailing them 3 times, store 6056 finally replied with “We’ve made several unsuccessful attempts to contact you by phone with important account information. It’s important we speak with you. Please contact us at 206 285 5800 at your earliest convenience.” As they know, I live out of the country, so I cannot call them and they cannot call me, which is why I chose email. The last time I had an issue with them I had to make an international call that cost over $50.00 to complete. When I told them that I could not call, the next email from store 6056 was, “As we have previously discussed, we cannot discuss account information through email. We are unable to make calls to foreign numbers. If there is someone you would like to come to the office we can speak with, we can send you an authorized user access form. Unfortunately, we cannot respond to emails outside of premade templates. This message is only to explain since we are unable to contact you via phone.”
So, unlike the rest of the free world (including banks and every other organization I tried to reach in the US), they cannot handle this through email. Three months after starting the lease I get a 30% rate increase with no explanation and they are unwilling to discuss it through email.
This is one example of why 212 or 248 reviews on “consumeraffairs” are one star and more than 50% of the reviews here are one star.

NYC is successfully suing corrupt storage companies! File your Cubesmart complaint to add to the record!
For those reporting horror stories about Cubesmart Storage, PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NYC’S DEPT OF CONSUMER AND WORKER PROTECTION (DCWP)! The city has already successfully sued Extra Space Storage for these same deceptive practices, & won a settlement for disgruntled customers. If DCWP receives enough complaints about Cubesmart, they may take similar action against this infuriating company. In my case, I was notified of a 32% increase in my storage fee after two months - unacceptable!
No links allowed here, so just search for “NYC DCWP” and find their complaint form.
You can read about the Extra Space lawsuit and settlement by searching for “extra space 1.7M settlement dcwp”

Uses bait and switch practices to bring…
Uses bait and switch practices to bring customers. Stating it’s 1 month free when it’s really not. Hoping a class action lawsuits takes place for false advertising.
