I rented an indoor temperature controlled unit for my belongings. Upon renting I also had to buy their required insurance. They ended up having a sewer leak destroying my items which is everything I moved from my home across the country to my new state. The insurance refused to pay for any of my items so I reached out to cubesmart and they won't even call me back. Do not use! Horrible customer service and the insurance is a scam.

Their advertised rates are just a gimmick yo get you in!!
Beware of their advertised rates!!! They will honor them for a few months and then will start a string of continuous and unannounced hikes. At the Cubesmart 6730 in Aurora, CO they have an advertised rate of $139.00 for a 10’x20’. Well they had me paying $258.00 for that same unit. And they will not honor their advertised rate to regular renters; that is only for new customers. And as soon as three months pass, they’ll start a sustained string of unannounced increases. Their argument is that every 30 days you start a new lease contract, so they can hike if they want to. And unfortunately, they always want to. And apprently this is a companywide policy, as I complained with the District Manager and got the same response. She has the nerve to tell me that I should have read the fine print. I had to endure this situation of continued rate increases because of personal health reasons, but fortunately I have made arrangements to stop this abuse. You have been warned!!!

Rented a storage unit on the third…exstrotionist
Rented a storage unit on the third month in they raised my rates. Called and asked how much it cost to rent the same size unit I had it was the rate paid for the first three months. So they lure you in and change the rate thinking you wont move. After I wrote a review they called me 4 times in 8hrs and sent and email saying it is common practice and they wont change the increased rate. Exstrotionist

Fake Availability, Hidden Fee's, Huge Late Fee - SCAM !!
these people announce different price and availability. when you arrive there you realize that the unit you want is not available and they make you get bigger unit with higher price and when you sign documents you see several hidden fees. They don't remind you for payment and charge you huge late fee, which is part of their business. they do anything to take your money.

CHRONIC BROKEN ELEVATORS
A clean air conditioned unit and friendly Staff do not matter if the elevators are chronically broken. Over the past 4 months, at LEAST 1 of the 2 elevators at the Nuckols Road (Richmond VA) location have been out of service every time I was there. Today, like a couple weeks ago, BOTH elevators were broken. Signs were on both elevators, so Management knew both elevators were out of order when they left for the day. How am I supposed to get my belongings out of storage to be transported to my college student’s Apartment? Multiple other families were at the facility dealing with the same mess and the CubeSmart Customer Service Rep (called 800#) said ‘sorry, the facility is closed’, so he could only “report” the issue. AVOID CUBESMART

What the heck is going on
What the heck is going on? I rented out a unit in March of 2019 and lo and behold, my rate for September is going up 17%. What the heck!! 17% in one month? This is total BS.. And to boot, the price could go up more than once a year...…..

Good Morning Mr
Good Morning Mr. Marino,
I hope this e-mail reaches you quickly and you address this matter. My husband and I used a Cube Smart in Summerville, SC and had a great experience, so we decided to stay with Cube Smart when we needed to move our storage unit items to Greenville. We are in the middle of a long move (3 hours) and thought that would make it easier. We reserved a 10 X 30 unit 2 weeks ahead online and the store manager in Simpsonville called me (Ash Mann). We discussed the options in length and set up our appointment. We scheduled to come move into the 10 X 30 Unit on July 27. She knew of the entire situation - moving from 3 hours away with a 26 ft rented truck and we had people from our church meeting us there to help us move into the unit. On the phone she even stated, you will need one lock the day of move in or we require you buy one. All was clear and ready.
I called ahead to let her know that my appt. time would need to change to later in the day because our renter truck time was shifted. No one answered at the local store, so it shifted to a regional or corporate office. The woman I spoke too said she made notes in the computer. When we arrived at the Cube Smart in Simpsonville, she said she never received the notes and had been on vacation. She wanted to show us the unit before the paper work and said we would need 3 locks. I asked, "Why would we need 3 locks for a 10 X 30?" She responded, "Well it really is 3 10 X 10 units in a row. Each door requires a separate lock." I told her that when we reserved the unit and we spoke on the phone, she did not tell me that it was 3 separate units. She confirmed that and said, "Yes, you are right, I never told you that." I said, "If i would have known, I would have looked elsewhere because the size of our items won't fit into a 10 X 10." She responded, "It is the same square footage." I responded, "It is not the same. I reserved a 10 X 30. The furniture and machines do no fit in divided 10 X 10 units. You should have told the truth and called me. Now we have driven 3 hours and people are meeting us, and we are stuck. This was really dishonest." She proceeded to show us the units on the golf cart because she insisted that it was the same square footage and we could look to see. At this point we were stuck. We saw the units and there was no way it would fit our items. We reserved a 10 X 30 for a reason.
While riding in the golf cart, she told me that we could not have a dog on the premises. I explained to her that the dog is my sister's service dog who was helping us move that day and she has a disability. I told her the dog has a certificate and is a service dog (he wears all the service dog leashes and labels). She told us that did not matter and we could only have the dog there today and could not have him on the premises again. As you well know as the manager, that is illegal. There is up to 10,000 in fines for a location to prohibit a service dog.
Now that were were stuck, she called to find another Cube Smart that would have as she called "a 10 X 30 with no walls" - she was still justifying that the 3 10 X 10s would be the same. She found a unit at the Piedmont location. I reminded her that the location is extremely further from the new home we are buying. At this point we did not have a choice. We had people helping us move and the truck had to be turned in.
So beyond the extreme sarcasm she expressed, she was not helpful at all. We were able to move all the truck to the location at Piedmont with Lisa Troy. She helped us and did her best. The issue is that this put us over 2 hours behind the schedule making this change and the distance from our home is about 17 miles. This will make it extremely difficult to move our items later and more costly. The Simpsonville Cube Smart is only 3 miles from our new home. If we would have known then we would not have used Cube Smart. We would have gone with another company that was closer to our home, but because she was dishonest, it trapped us and makes everything harder.
I know Cube Smart prides itself on customer service and this was the worst we have received ever from any type of company. Moving is hard enough as it is, but to add this extra stress and cost by no fault our own is unacceptable. I hope that you address and resolve this issue appropriately and quickly.
Sincerely,
Tanya and Luiz Franca
