The facility is clean and the staff has been both knowledgeable and friendly, but... Nearly a year into the pandemic, I received a 15% rate increase from CubeSmart. At a time when other companies are easing back to lessen the burden on their customers, CubeSmart decided to send a 'Christmas card' demanding a rate increase 12.5 times that of inflation. Ho-Ho-Ho! Bottom line - we moved out within days. Merry Christmas Scrooge!

I used to live in Florida. I know there are a lot of snowbirds that have storage and winter homes. So my situation of living out of state and having a unit is not uncommon. During this Pandemic my employer decided not to reopen here in VA. My unemployment ran out and suck with paying bills with no job. Just because Florida open up our Governor didn't. But you guys are so quick to sell peoples property and fill the space no such empathy is to be found. Thanks for selling my memories and my children's memories

I lost my home to hurricane Sally and had to get storage to save what I could. That’s bad enough right? To make matters worse The manager at Cubesmart in Foley AL 36535 located at 3521 McKenzie St is bad. She’s rude She tried talking down to me and the Cubesmart’s are supposed to practice covid guidelines and social distancing but she has not worn a mask at all the three times I’ve had to go in the office. She took me up the elevator to show where my unit was and four other people were crowded by the elevator. I went in elevator with the manager and asked her to close the door because none of the other people were wearing a mask either and I didn’t want to be enclosed in such a small tight space with them. She let them enter the elevator forcing me towards the back and she said “you can’t stop people from getting on the elevator. You have on your mask so you are protected”. I told her she was wrong that me wearing a mask was protecting others and that’s why everyone should wear one to protect each other. She rolled her eyes and looked at one of the guys on the elevator like I was being ridiculous. I told her after we got off that she cannot tell me I have to get on elevator with anyone. She started to argue saying I can’t refuse people to get on the elevator and I shut her down. If I get covid because of her careless selfish and rude behavior Cubesmart will not hear the last from me. Be sure of that. Alabama’s Governor just extended the mask mandate requirement again. I will not be forced to be in a closed in crowded space again......fire her!!!!

The complex is kept very clean. However at the location I use there are frequently homeless people hanging around outside. Also the rent frequently goes up without explanation. Much like renting an apartment, the longer you stay the more you pay but the unit keeps getting older and older while amenities, service and construction remains the same.

The facility I am at is OK; however, they prices they list for their units are misleading. When I arrived to start my rental they required that I purchase an insurance policy from them. The policy is $12 a month and covers only $2,000. They administrative fee for the policy is $10. I don't know if this is an industry thing or not, Cubesmart manager says it is.

I initially signed up for the storage unit online, I made a reservation for a 10 x 15. Once I came to the location to look at the unit they told me that they did not have any 10 x 15’s available even though I had a reservation. They did however say that they had a 10 x 20 available, looking at the storage unit size I could tell it was not 20 feet long. I told the lady that there’s no way that this unit is 20 feet long she informed me that it is, I had to go and get a tape measure from my truck to show her that it was indeed 15 feet long. She told me that they would have to fix it in their computer and then I can come back the next day and reserve the unit, which I did. While setting up my account they try to force me into purchasing insurance from them, only after inquiring did I find I can use my homeowners insurance. I requested that my account be set up on auto pay, after one month I received a notice that my payment was still due. I called the location and the lady was apologetic and told me she would get the auto pay set up for me. After the second monthly payment was due I received a past due notice for the previous month, I called the location and the gentleman told me that they cannot set up auto pay over the phone and that the lady I spoke to the first time was misinformed. He then told me he can waive the late fee in a tone which was not so friendly as if I was the one who made the mistake. I ended up calling the corporate number to get the auto pay situation resolved, and by the way the gentleman who said he would waive the late fee never did that. I went ahead and paid it anyways, if it was not a burden to move all my things out of there I would have done so immediately I will never do business with this location ever again.

So I was a customer at this place for 6 years, originally AAA storage. Paid my fee on March 5th, had an opportunity to move my stuff out March 7th. Checked out and the thanks I got for being a multi year customer was, we do not refund the rest of the month that I did not use. The guy at the counter was real nice about it, and checked but nope. That's the policy, read the whole contract I guess or wait to move out until the end of the month. Was very disappointed as I paid more for the climate controlled bin. Hopefully will never need them again, won't go back.
