The "verification" process took money from my bank account without any two-step verification on my part for the payment and without any information given on the fact that money would be taken out. There's no way to contact them aside from the online contact form. I've been reading other people experiences online and many others have had the same thing happen. Fraudulent.

They charged me 56 euros for a lifetime verification when the service was free and shortly after, they started to charge for subscriptions and this totally blocked my access to the site, preventing me from using the service I paid for. I think they can change their policies and start to charge a subscription at any time, but when you sell a lifetime service and after that introduce a limitation to access this service (in this case, a new subscription policy), you have to refund those who paid for the previous service and don’t want to pay for a subscription. It’s a matter of law and respect for the customer. I'm going to take legal action and advise everyone to do the same.

The experience matches all the other reviews here, site is useless and full of unethical practices to get your credit card and the money.

Unfortunately CS has gone down the wrong path over the years, especially due to the new payment-review system and the screening of profiles. I've experienced during my travels different situations, from good to bad ones, but it worked and I also really found really helpful people who offered a tour of their town and a bed for the night, especially when hostels were overbooked and I didn't have any other options. Later there was CS for android, or eventually the app for hanging out and even there I noticed how far was the original concept. Only people who were looking for a partner, guys who basically ignored me just for being a male, drunk girls for one night-stand. Indeed sad and after that I gave up and I prefer to book my rooms/hostels way in advance and eventually ask on a forum if someone wants to hangout. Bewelcome and similar sites are a 2nd choice and I see only people asking to host them because they're too lazy for booking a room and want to save money. I understand that in these hard times, but first people should look for an option and eventually ask help in case other things weren't available.

It’s a pity that corporate greed just kills another good concept. Deceiving people into paying a verification and using ransomware tactics to be able to access ones account again
